Your parents, perhaps. Your religion. Your teachers, historians, politicians. #Quote by Neale Donald Walsch

Against the Roman Church, you warned, lying teachers are rising, introducing ruinous sects, and drawing upon themselves speedy doom. Their tongues are fire, a restless evil, full of deadly poison. They have bitter zeal, contention in their hearts, and boast and lie against the truth. #Quote by Pope Leo X

#15. The parent is protector and trainer, but never the ultimate teacher. Every parent is responsible for teaching their kid basic moral conduct, manners, the difference between love and hate, and right from wrong. However, after maturity, the child must set off to seek knowledge on their own. Religion is never to be forced. And you cannot threaten your child with hell and tell them your religion is the only right way. There is no one right way. The many ways to the Creator are as varied as the colors of a rainbow. #Quote by Suzy Kassem

Teacher quotes by Alice Munro
#20. One thing in the school was captivating, lovely. Pictures of birds. Rose didn't know if the teacher had climbed up and nailed them above the blackboard, too high for easy desecration, if they were her first and last hopeful effort, or if they dated from some earlier, easier time in the school's history. Where had they come from, how had they arrived there, when nothing else did, in the way of decoration, illustration?

A red-headed woodpecker; an oriole; a blue jay; a Canada goose. The colors clear and long-lasting. Backgrounds of pure snow, of blossoming branches, of heady summer sky. In an ordinary classroom they would not have seemed so extraordinary. Here they were bright and eloquent, so much at variance with everything else that what they seemed to represent was not the birds themselves, not those skies and snows, but some other world of hardy innocence, bounteous information, privileged lightheartedness. No stealing from lunch pails there; no slashing coats; no pulling down pants and probing with painful sticks; no fucking; no Franny. #Quote by Alice Munro
Teacher quotes by Eric Mazur
#21. I thought I was a good teacher until I discovered my students were just memorizing information rather than learning to understand the material, #Quote by Eric Mazur
Teacher quotes by Louise L. Hay
#22. The gateways to wisdom and learning are always open, and more and more I am choosing to walk through them. Barriers, blocks, obstacles, and problems are personal teachers giving me the opportunity to move out of the past and into the Totality of Possibilities. #Quote by Louise L. Hay
Teacher quotes by Lucia Berlin
#23. Mrs. Bevins smiled. "Okay. I'll cop. I think every teacher sees this sometimes. It's not simply intelligence or talent. It's a nobility of spirit. A quality which could make him great at whatever he wanted to do." We #Quote by Lucia Berlin
Teacher quotes by H.L. Mencken
#24. I know a good many men of great learning-that is, men born with an extraordinary eagerness and capacity to acquire knowledge. One and all, they tell me that they can't recall learning anything of any value in school. All that schoolmasters managed to accomplish with them was to test and determine the amount of knowledge that they had already acquired independently-and not infrequently the determination was made clumsily and inaccurately. #Quote by H.L. Mencken
Teacher quotes by Iyanla Vanzant
#25. You know, if you're a human and living on the planet, it doesn't matter what you do; you are not immune to the challenges, the trials, the difficulty. And that fact that I happen to be a coach and a minister and a spiritual teacher doesn't mean anything. I'm still human. #Quote by Iyanla Vanzant
Teacher quotes by Ernest L. Boyer
#26. A poor surgeon hurts one person at a time. A poor teacher hurts 130. #Quote by Ernest L. Boyer
Teacher quotes by Frederick Sanger

Teacher quotes by Stephen Batchelor
#28. Awakening is not a state but a process: an ethical way of life and commitment that enables human flourishing. As such, it is no longer the exclusive preserve of enlightened teachers or accomplished yogis. Likewise, nirvana-the stopping of craving-is not the goal of the path but its very source. For human flourishing first stirs in that clear, bright, empty space where neurotic self-centredness realizes that it has no ground at all to stand on. One is then freed to pour forth like sunlight. #Quote by Stephen Batchelor
Teacher quotes by Fred Rogers
#29. Anyone who does anything to help a child in his life is a hero to me. #Quote by Fred Rogers

Teacher quotes by Albert Einstein
#32. School failed me, and I failed the school. It bored me. The teachers behaved like Feldwebel (sergeants). I wanted to learn what I wanted to know, but they wanted me to learn for the exam. What I hated most was the competitive system there, and especially sports. Because of this, I wasn't worth anything, and several times they suggested I leave. #Quote by Albert Einstein
Teacher quotes by Martin H. Fischer
#33. A good teacher must know the rules; a good pupil, the exceptions. #Quote by Martin H. Fischer
Teacher quotes by Georges St-Pierre
#34. One of the important lessons I learned from my parents is always to respect authority figures like teachers. #Quote by Georges St-Pierre
Teacher quotes by Geraldine Ferraro
#35. The Republicans love to say that the Democratic Party is ruled by 'special interests.' But when pressed to name these 'special interests,' the usual reply is women, blacks, teachers, and unions. Those are 'special interests' to be proud of - because together they comprise the majority of Americans. What about the 'special interests' that dominate the Republican Party - the oil companies, the banks, the gun lobby, and the apostles of religious intolerance? #Quote by Geraldine Ferraro

#38. What all great teachers appear to have in common is love of their subject, an obvious satisfaction in rousing this love in their students, and an ability to convince them that what they are being taught is deadly serious #Quote by Joseph Epstein
Teacher quotes by Vera-Ellen
#39. I was called a bookish child. Mother sent me to a ballet teacher in Cincinnati when I was nine years old. I guess I was an awkward child and the family wanted me to be graceful. When I found out I liked to dance and people seemed to like to watch me, I was determined to go places. #Quote by Vera-Ellen
Teacher quotes by Alexandra Robbins
#40. If there is a single factor that spells out the difference between the cafeteria fringe headed for greatness and those doomed for low self-worth, even more than a caring teacher or a group of friends, it is supportive, accepting parents who not only love their children unconditionally, but also don't make them feel as if their idiosyncrasies qualify as "conditions" in the first place. #Quote by Alexandra Robbins
Teacher quotes by Rosie O'Donnell
#41. Public school teachers in Long Island, New York, saved my life in the '70s. They were involved and invested and helpful. One took me into her family and loved me back to life. She taught me that love is not formed and families are not formed by blood. That love makes a family. #Quote by Rosie O'Donnell
Teacher quotes by Paul Rust
#42. My mom was my English teacher in high school. So to be able to bend the rules and be the class clown and get to take on my religion, my mom, and my town all at the same time was glorious. I think the desire to be funny was a mixture of wanting to be liked but also wanting to throw your elbows a bit. If you're cracking a joke in school, it's sort of anti-authority, but it's in the nicest, "Please like me!" way. #Quote by Paul Rust
Teacher quotes by Tim Dorsey
#43. These rare gray afternoons evoke a sweet, childhood melancholy in my soul, like when it rained in kindergarten and we had to stay inside and do crafts with library paste and pipe cleaners and buttons, and I made the best project in the whole class, an ultra-powerful rubber-band zip gun, but the teacher gave me a zero because I got her in the eye with a button. #Quote by Tim Dorsey

Teacher quotes by Yogi Bhajan
#48. Our purpose in this life is to live in higher consciousness and to teach others to live in higher consciousness. But the best test to that consciousness is humility, selflessness, and sweetness. When you teach, teach with honesty, truthfulness, and straightforwardness. As a teacher, never compromise. As a man, always compromise. The teacher who compromises is an idiot; a person who does not compromise is an idiot. Because the teacher does not teach for himself, but for the higher consciousness. And higher consciousness will never compromise with lower consciousness. This is a straight law and that has to be considered as a law; that has to be observed as a law. #Quote by Yogi Bhajan
Teacher quotes by John H. Groberg
#49. There are great scholars and wonderful teachers all over the world. Many of them humbly and effectively teach truth, but others do not. God gives us the gift of the Holy Ghost so we can discern what is true and what is not, and He expects us to seek truth wherever we can find it. Temple truths are a marvelous measuring rod by which we can measure everything else. #Quote by John H. Groberg

Teacher quotes by Carl Gardner
#51. My musical background in Tyler, Texas was quite outstanding. Uh, I grew up with, uh, with high school teachers who were in bands, they could play music. And we had a nine piece band there in Tyler, and I joined them when I was about, oh, 15 years old and traveled all over Texas in that band, playing for the elite oil people. Hah. And um, I was making about 50 bucks a night, and uh, it taught me, they taught me how to find my timing and to learn the songs that I wanted. #Quote by Carl Gardner

Teacher quotes by Joseph Weizenbaum
#54. If the teacher, if anyone, is to be an example of a whole person to others, he must first strive to be a whole person. Without the courage to confront one's inner as well as one's outer worlds, such wholeness is impossible to achieve. Instrumental reason alone cannot lead to it. And there precisely is a crucial difference between man and machine: Man, in order to become whole, must be forever an explorer of both his inner and his outer realities. His life is full of risks, but risks he has the courage to accept, because, like the explorer, he learns to trust his own capacities to endure, to overcome. What could it mean to speak of risk, courage, trust, endurance, and overcoming when one speaks of machines. #Quote by Joseph Weizenbaum

Teacher quotes by Donna Tartt
#72. Joan of Arc had led armies when she was hardly older than Harriet. Yet, for Christmas last year, Harriet's father had given Harriet an insulting board game for girls called What Shall I Be? #74. I remember my fourth grade teacher reading 'Charlotte's Web' and 'Stuart Little' to us - both, of course, by E. B. White. His stories were genuinely funny, thought provoking and full of irony and charm. Teacher quotes by Saint John Chrysostom

Teacher quotes by Bernie Siegel
#81. It can be tempting to blame others for our loss of direction. I can do it, too.' #Quote by Mac DeMarco

Teacher quotes by Katherine Applegate
#86. Someday, if we won, if humanity survived, we'd be in the history books. Me and Jake and Rachel and Cassie and Tobias and Ax. They'd be household names, like generals from World War II or the Civil War. Patton and Eisenhower, Ulysses Grant and Robert E. Lee. Kids would study us in school. Bored, probably.
And then the teacher would tell the story of Marco. I'd be a part of history. What I was about to do. Some kid would laugh. Some kid would say, "Cold, man. That was really cold."
I had to do it, kid. It was a war. It's the whole point, you stupid, smug, smirking little jerk! Don't you get it?
It was the whole point. We hurt the innocent in order to stop the evil. Innocent Hork-Bajir. Innocent Taxxons. Innocent human-Controllers. How else to stop the Yeerks? How else to win?
No choice, you punk. We did what we had to do.
"Cold, man. The Marco dude? He was just cold. #Quote by Katherine Applegate
Teacher quotes by Carl Rogers
#87. An empathic way of being can be learned from empathic persons. Perhaps the most important statement of all is that the ability to be accurately empathic is something which can be developed by training. Therapists, parents and teachers can be helped to become empathic. This is especially likely to occur if their teachers and supervisors are themselves individuals of sensitive understanding. It is most encouraging to know that this subtle, elusive quality, of utmost importance in therapy, is not something one is "born with", but can be learned, and learned most rapidly in an empathic climate. #Quote by Carl Rogers
Teacher quotes by Laurell K. Hamilton
#88. Remember the three rules of vampire hunting. One: Never, ever look them in the eyes. Two: Never, ever give up your cross. Three: Aim for the head and heart. Even with silver ammo, it won't be a killing blow anywhere else." I felt like a kindergarten teacher sending her kiddies off to a hostile playground. "Don't panic if you get bitten. The bite can be cleansed. As long as they don't mesmerize you with their eyes, you can still fight. #Quote by Laurell K. Hamilton
Teacher quotes by Avijeet Das
#89. A Woman is the first teacher in our life. A woman in the role of a mother, grand-mother, aunt, sister, cousin, girl-friend, wife, sister-in-law, daughter and in any other role always teaches us about loving, caring, and nurturing life and relationships in world. Without women life on Earth would have been annihilated ages ago. Women give birth to and nurture life in Earth! #Quote by Avijeet Das

Teacher quotes by Bob Brookmeyer
#97. Once in a while, a teacher gets rewarded with a brilliant student. My two years with Dan Szabo at the New England Conservatory were indeed a gift
he is a pianist with unlimited potential and a composer that makes my heart sing. I deeply feel that he is an important musician for the coming years. #Quote by Bob Brookmeyer
Teacher quotes by Robert A. Johnson
#98. Dr. Kunkel's teacher, Dr. Jung, believed that archetypes are blueprints of the basic human qualities we all share. The archetypes themselves are undefinable natural patterns or forces that shape life in all ages and places. They cannot be known directly, but archetypal themes and images appear in myth, fairy tales, dreams, and fantasies. We tend to think of ourselves as unique individuals, and to a great extent we are. But just as there are shared patterns that shape our physical existence, such as having two arms and legs, two eyes, ten fingers and toes, so there are underlying patterns that shape our psychic existence. #Quote by Robert A. Johnson
Teacher quotes by Emily Mortimer
#99. I'm still shy - I'm no good at my children's parent-teacher conferences, and I'm slowly learning how to ask for what I want. But I now know that I have a reserve of courage to draw upon when I really need it. There's nothing that I'm too scared to have a go at. #Quote by Emily Mortimer
Teacher quotes by Edward Bernays
#100. We have voluntarily agreed to let an invisible government sift the data and high-spot the outstanding issues so that our field of choice shall be narrowed to practical proportions. From our leaders and the media they use to reach the public, we accept the evidence and the demarcation of issues bearing upon public questions; from some ethical teacher, be it a minister, a favorite essayist, or merely prevailing opinion, we accept a standardized code of social conduct to which we conform most of the time. #Quote by Edward Bernays
Teacher quotes by Epictetus
#101. How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself and in no instance bypass the discriminations of reason? You have been given the principles that you ought to endorse, and you have endorsed them. What kind of teacher, then, are you still waiting for in order to refer your self-improvement to him? You are no longer a boy, but a full-grown man. If you are careless and lazy now and keep putting things off and always deferring the day after which you will attend to yourself, you will not notice that you are making no progress, but you will live and die as someone quite ordinary.
From now on, then, resolve to live as a grown-up who is making progress, and make whatever you think best a law that you never set aside. And whenever you encounter anything that is difficult or pleasurable, or highly or lowly regarded, remember that the contest is now: you are at the Olympic Games, you cannot wait any longer, and that your progress is wrecked or preserved by a single day and a single event. That is how Socrates fulfilled himself by attending to nothing except reason in everything he encountered. And you, although you are not yet a Socrates, should live as someone who at least wants to be a Socrates. #Quote by Epictetus

Teacher quotes by Sascha Radetsky
#105. At Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet Academy, I studied under a brilliant and fiery teacher. This tiny, stuttering old man flew into a rage if his students' white socks failed to reach mid-calf level. Nor could he tolerate floppy hair. We wore hairnets to class - an athletic brigade of short order cooks. #Quote by Sascha Radetsky
Teacher quotes by Hermann Hesse
#106. Wisdom cannot be imparted. Wisdom that a wise man attempts to impart always sounds like foolishness to someone else ... Knowledge can be communicated, but not wisdom. One can find it, live it, do wonders through it, but one cannot communicate and teach it. #Quote by Hermann Hesse
Teacher quotes by Max Monroe
#107. Sent. Think you can mess with me? Think again, honey. Student, meet teacher. #Quote by Max Monroe
Teacher quotes by Flynn Meaney
#108. And once, a sophomore English teacher, Mr. Watts, found out that one of his students had spent the past eight class periods carving an elaborate design into his desk. The "artwork" read: "Mr. Watts and Dickens sucks dick." Mr. Watts confronted the carver, telling him, "That's wrong!" Then Mr. Watts took the knife and crossed out the last s in sucks. Teacher quotes by Robert Pinsky
#112. A reflection on Robert Lowell

Robert Lowell knew I was not one of his devotees. I attended his famous "office hours" salon only a few times. Life Studies was not a book of central importance for me, though I respected it. I admired his writing, but not the way many of my Boston friends did. Among poets in his generation, poems by Elizabeth Bishop, Alan Dugan, and Allen Ginsberg meant more to me than Lowell's. I think he probably sensed some of that.

To his credit, Lowell nevertheless was generous to me (as he was to many other young poets) just the same. In that generosity, and a kind of open, omnivorous curiosity, he was different from my dear teacher at Stanford, Yvor Winters. Like Lowell, Winters attracted followers - but Lowell seemed almost dismayed or a little bewildered by imitators; Winters seemed to want disciples: "Wintersians," they were called.

A few years before I met Lowell, when I was still in California, I read his review of Winters's Selected Poems. Lowell wrote that, for him, Winters's poetry passed A. E. Housman's test: he felt that if he recited it while he was shaving, he would cut himself. One thing Lowell and Winters shared, that I still revere in both of them, was a fiery devotion to the vocal essence of poetry: the work and interplay of sentences and lines, rhythm and pitch. The poetry in the sounds of the poetry, in a reader's voice: neither page nor stage.

#113. Truth is not to be found outside. No teacher, no scripture can give it to you. It is inside you and if you wish to attain it, seek your own company. Be with yourself. #Quote by Rajneesh
Teacher quotes by Dan Millman
#114. Life is the only real teacher. It offers many experiences ... But the lessons of experience are hidden. #Quote by Dan Millman
Teacher quotes by Maddy Malhotra
#115. You may know how to operate computers. You may know a lot about aliens or robots. You may be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, teacher, specialist ... BUT if you don't know how you operate, why your life is the way it is and how to increase fulfillment, love and peace in your life then all the knowledge and degrees aren't much worth having! #Quote by Maddy Malhotra
Teacher quotes by Richard Rohr
#116. It is crucial that Jesus is led by the Spirit. There are two wildernesses, two darknesses in the spiritual journey. One you go into by your own stupidity, by your sin, blindness, ignorance and mistakes. We all do that. But there's another darkness. The holy darkness is the darkness that God leads us into, through and beyond. This is a necessary darkness for the journey. In a certain sense, God's darkness is a much better teacher than light. There comes a time when you have to either go deeper into faith or you will turn back, when you have to live without knowing or you lose faith altogether. So we have the Spirit leading Jesus into the wilderness, to face the essential darkness. #Quote by Richard Rohr
Teacher quotes by Keith Johnstone
#117. One day, when I was eighteen, I was reading a book and I began to weep. I was astounded. I'd had no idea that literature
could affect me in such a way. If I'd have wept over a poem in class the teacher would have been appalled. I realised that my school had been teaching me not to respond. #Quote by Keith Johnstone
Teacher quotes by Gary Sinise
#118. The wonderful drama teacher at my high school, Barbara Patterson, saw me standing in the hall and told me I should audition for 'West Side Story.' I guess she thought I looked like a gang member. #Quote by Gary Sinise
Teacher quotes by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
#119. Love is a teacher, but one must know how to acquire it, for it is difficult to acquire, it is dearly bought, by long work over a long time, for one ought to love not for a chance moment but for all time. Anyone, even a wicked man, can love by chance. #Quote by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Teacher quotes by Hamza Charlemagne
#120. Geeks = Know more about computers than their computer teacher, so everyone comes to them for computer problems.
Nerds = Have no life and only worries about school, no one talks to them.
Jocks = Know a lot about sports but not much else.
Geek's Wife: Completely depend on the geek for tech support. Tend to be pretty good looking.
Nerd's Wife: nonexistent
Jock's Wife: only there for money, most likely having an affair with another jock

See Geeks are the best! #Quote by Hamza Charlemagne
Teacher quotes by William F. Buckley, Jr.
#121. I do not, in short, myself believe it is in the least bit undignified to confess to having been critically influenced in one's thinking by a teacher, or a faculty, or a book; but the accent these days is so strong on atomistic intellectual independence that to suggest such a thing is, as I have noted, highly inflammatory. #Quote by William F. Buckley, Jr.
Teacher quotes by Swen Nater
#122. For those teachers I have mentioned, and also for me, teaching is much more than a job. It is a responsibility to those under my supervision - a responsibility to teach them. And how can I tell if I've taught them, if I've been successful? Right. Only if they've learned. Therefore, I have learned to focus on studying people, especially young people. I study the way they react, the way they are motivated, the way they are frustrated, and the way they work. This will help me discover the way they learn and when I discover that, I'm half way there. The methods I learned, both for the classroom and for the court, were created from and for my students."

- John Wooden #Quote by Swen Nater
Teacher quotes by Maria Montessori
#123. It is necessary for the teacher to guide the child without letting him feel her presence too much, so that she may always be ready to supply the desired help, but may never be the obstacle between the child and his experience. #Quote by Maria Montessori
Teacher quotes by Joyce Meyer

Teacher quotes by Kimberly Derting
#125. Has he called you at all?" Violet asked, even though she already knew the answer. Chelsea would have exploded with joy if he had.
"No," Chelsea answered glumly, and then she snapped her gum, earning herself another scowl from the librarian. She ignored the scolding look. "And I don't get it. I've given him my best material, including the I'm-easy-and-you-can-totally-have-me bedroom eyes. What's he waiting for?" Chelsea stopped talking and dropped her face into her open history book. "Look out, crazy librarian at nine o'clock."
By the time Mrs. Hertzog reached them, Chelsea was pretending to be interested in her assignment, filling in the dates on her paper as if it were the most fascinating homework in the world. Although Violet was almost certain that the War of 1812 hadn't occurred in 1776.
"Miss Morrison, do I need to remind you that you're supposed to be working? Your teacher sent you down here to study, not to socialize." She smiled sweetly at Violet. Chelsea's gaze narrowed as she glared, first at Violet and then at Mrs. Hertzog. But, wisely, she kept her mouth shut. "If you need help finding reference material," Mrs. Hertzog offered, glancing over the answers on Chelsea's paper, "I'd be happy to point you in the right direction…"
Chelsea swallowed, and Violet suspected she'd just swallowed her gum, since gum was a library no-no, before answering. "No, thanks. I think I've got it covered." She smiled, trying for sweet but getting closer to sour. "Unl #Quote by Kimberly Derting

Teacher quotes by Christopher Hitchens
#127. Commenting acidly on a writer whom I perhaps too naively admired, my old classics teacher put on his best sneer to ask: 'Wouldn't you say, Hitchens, that his writing was somewhat journalistic?' This lofty schoolmaster employed my name sarcastically, and stressed the last term as if he meant it to sting, and it rankled even more than he had intended. Later on in life, I found that I still used to mutter and improve my long-meditated reply. Émile Zola - a journalist. Charles Dickens - a journalist. Thomas Paine - another journalist. Mark Twain. Rudyard Kipling. George Orwell - a journalist par excellence. Somewhere in my cortex was the idea to which Orwell himself once gave explicit shape: the idea that 'mere' writing of this sort could aspire to become an art, and that the word 'journalist' - like the ironic modern English usage of the word 'hack' - could lose its association with the trivial and the evanescent. #Quote by Christopher Hitchens
Teacher quotes by Marva Collins
#128. What all good teachers have in common, however, is that they set high standards for their students and do not settle for anything less. #Quote by Marva Collins
Teacher quotes by James Hilton
#129. If I had a child who wanted to be a teacher, I would bid him Godspeed as if he were going to war. For indeed the war against prejudice, greed, and ignorance is eternal, and those who dedicate themselves to it give their lives no less because they may live to see some fraction of the battle won. #Quote by James Hilton
Teacher quotes by David Shuster
#130. I think that every day is a learning experience. I mean, every time I go to a school I learn something else from a teacher or learn something else from a student, I learn something else from a parent. There's so much to know when you talk about education. #Quote by David Shuster
Teacher quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
#131. History is a great teacher. Now everyone knows that the labor movement did not diminish the strength of the nation but enlarged it. By raising the living standards of millions, labor miraculously created a market for industry and lifted the whole nation to undreamed of levels of production. Those who attack labor forget these simple truths, but history remembers them. #Quote by Martin Luther King, Jr.
Teacher quotes by Jaclyn Smith
#132. I wanted to be a ballet teacher. #Quote by Jaclyn Smith
Teacher quotes by Denise Duhamel
#133. I just didn't get it -
even with the teacher holding an orange (the earth) in one hand
and a lemon (the moon) in the other,
her favorite student (the sun) standing behind her with a flashlight.
I just couldn't grasp it -
this whole citrus universe, these bumpy planets revolving so slowly
no one could even see themselves moving.
I used to think if I could only concentrate hard enough
I could be the one person to feel what no one else could,
sense a small tug from the ground, a sky shift, the earth changing gears.
Even though I was only one mini-speck on a speck,
even though I was merely a pinprick in one goosebump on the orange,
I was sure then I was the most specially perceptive, perceptively sensitive.
I was sure then my mother was the only mother to snap,
"The world doesn't revolve around you!"
The earth was fragile and mostly water,
just the way the orange was mostly water if you peeled it,
just the way I was mostly water if you peeled me.
Looking back on that third grade science demonstration,
I can understand why some people gave up on fame or religion or cures -
especially people who have an understanding
of the excruciating crawl of the world,
who have a well-developed sense of spatial reasoning
and the tininess that it is to be one of us.
But not me - even now I wouldn't mind being god, the force
who spins the planets the way I spin a globe, #Quote by Denise Duhamel
Teacher quotes by Parker J. Palmer

Teacher quotes by Haim Ginott

Teacher quotes by H.L. Mencken
#136. The best teacher of children, in brief, is one who is essentially childlike. #Quote by H.L. Mencken
Teacher quotes by Walter E. Williams
#137. School choice opponents are also dishonest when they speak of saving public schools. A Heritage Foundation survey found that 47 percent of House members and 51 percent of senators with school-age children enrolled them in private schools in 2001. Public school teachers enroll their children in private schools to a much greater extent than the general public, in some cities close to 50 percent. #Quote by Walter E. Williams
Teacher quotes by Cory Monteith
#138. I was 20 years old, working as a roofer and a telemarketer and driving a taxi, just barely getting by. A friend of a friend suggested I try acting. I was like, 'Why? What am I going to do? Community theater?' But I took a class, and the teacher thought that I had potential, so I moved to Vancouver and started auditioning. #Quote by Cory Monteith
Teacher quotes by Betty Smith
#139. Francie always remembered what the kind teacher told her. 'You know, Francie, a lot of people would think that these stories that you're making up all the time were terrible lies because they are not the truth as people see the truth. In the future, when something comes up, you tell exactly how it happened but write down for yourself the way you think it should have happened. Tell the truth and write the story. Then you won't get mixed up.'
It was the best advice Francie ever got. Truth and fancy were so mixed up in her mind
as they are in the mind of every lonely child
that she didn't know which was which. #Quote by Betty Smith
Teacher quotes by Elisabeth Kubler Ross
#140. Children who die young are some of our greatest teachers. We are allowed to die when we have taught what we came to teach and when we have learned what we came to learn. #Quote by Elisabeth Kubler Ross
Teacher quotes by Eric Greitens
#141. But it's also a human tendency - and a pronounced tendency in America - to become enamored of our tools and lose sight of their place. Think about a couple of the basic functions of any community: educating children and policing the streets. Today we spend huge effort and millions of dollars to bring more technology into the classroom, when the great majority of students in the great majority of circumstances can learn almost all of what they need to know with a supportive family, a pencil, some paper, good books, and a great teacher. The schools that produced Shakespeare and Jefferson and Darwin had some writing materials, some printed books - and that was it. #Quote by Eric Greitens
Teacher quotes by Tom Perrotta
#142. Taylor Swift wasn't actually one of them - she was just pretending, the same way Jesus had pretended to be a man. That was why she stood in front of the line, ahead of the others rather than among them. Because she was the teacher, the role model. She'd already shaken off the haters and the doubters and activated her best self. She was there to show the world what happiness and freedom looked like. You glowed with it. You did exactly what you wanted to. And whatever costume you wore, you were still yourself, unique and beautiful and unmistakable for anyone else. #Quote by Tom Perrotta
Teacher quotes by Frederick Lenz
#143. Being a siddha master is indeed a great accomplishment, but it is not the same as being enlightened. People confuse siddha masters, who have the power to perform miracles, with enlightened masters who can enter into samadhi. #Quote by Frederick Lenz
Teacher quotes by Eric Schlosser
#144. I think for real change to happen, it's going to have to come from the kids, the community, the teachers, the parents. #Quote by Eric Schlosser
Teacher quotes by Dan Ariely
#145. We have very strong intuitions about all kinds of things - our own ability, how the economy works, how we should pay school teachers. But unless we start testing those intuitions, we're not going to do better. #Quote by Dan Ariely
Teacher quotes by Sheldon Siegel

Deftly crafted and impeccably researched, The Art of Character is a thoughtful and insightful book that is immensely readable and practical. #Quote by Sheldon Siegel
Teacher quotes by Alexandra Bracken
#147. But hey, what's life without a little adversity?
That had to have been the fakest attempt at optimism since my fourth grade teacher tried reasoning that we were better off without the dead kids in our class because it'd mean more turns on the playground swings for the rest of us. #Quote by Alexandra Bracken
Teacher quotes by Anton Szandor LaVey
#148. A friend of mine who was a founding father of the Church of Satan, who later I compared notes with, said when he was a kid, he too managed to get into Sallys Nude Ranch, and in the corral he saw his Sunday school teacher!!! That was a real epiphany for him. From that moment on he was a Satanist. #Quote by Anton Szandor LaVey
Teacher quotes by Michael Gurian
#149. Teacher cannot solve or heal all student stress. The teacher can be vigilant in trying to guide the child toward solutions;but the teacher's job in relation to this stress is ultimately to help the child learn to manage his or her own stress wisely. In accomplishing this, the teacher mentors higher academic learning by removing distracting stress, and teaches valuable life-survival skills. #Quote by Michael Gurian
Teacher quotes by David Hawkins
#150. All of the Great Teachers throughout the history of our species have merely taught one thing, over & over, in whatever language, at whatever time. All have said, simply: Give up weak attractors for strong attractors. #Quote by David Hawkins

Teacher quotes by John Taylor Gatto

Teacher quotes by Richard Riley
#153. We need to understand that every time an elementary teacher captures the imagination of a child through the arts or music of language this nation gets a little stronger. #Quote by Richard Riley
Teacher quotes by Richard Hofstadter
#154. All this is the more maddening, as Edward Shils has pointed out, in a populistic culture which has always set a premium on government by the common man and through the common judgement and which believes deeply in the sacred character of publicity. Here the politician expresses what a large part of the public feels. The citizen cannot cease to need or to be at the mercy of experts, but he can achieve a kind of revenge by ridiculing the wild-eyed professor, the irresponsible brain truster, or the mad scientist, and by applauding the politicians as the pursue the subversive teacher, the suspect scientist, or the allegedly treacherous foreign-policy adviser. There has always been in our national experience a type of mind which elevates hatred to a kind of creed; for this mind, group hatreds take a place in politics similar to the class struggle in some other modern societies. Filled with obscure and ill-directed grievances and frustrations, with elaborate hallucinations about secrets and conspiracies, groups of malcontents have found scapegoats at various times in Masons or abolitionists, Catholics, Mormons, or Jews, Negroes, or immigrants, the liquor interests or the international bankers. In the succession of scapegoats chosen by the followers of this tradition of Know-Nothingism, the intelligentsia have at last in our time found a place. #Quote by Richard Hofstadter
Teacher quotes by Sydney Pollack

Teacher quotes by Kresley Cole
#157. I groaned. "All the time. I thought I was going crazy."
"Duude," he said in agreement. "And before the Flash, all kinds of freaky shit was happening to me. I started speaking this wierd Language. And stuff started transforming- but only in front of me. I saw my cat walking on the ceiling, saw lava coming out of a faucet. The worst? I was doing this girl, and suddenly she looked like my gym teacher! #Quote by Kresley Cole

Teacher quotes by Jaime Escalante

Teacher quotes by Bijou Hunter
#160. I don't know why you want to hang out when I'm half asleep?"
Cooper leaned over and kissed me softly. His lips sucked at my bottom lip for a second before he pulled back and relaxed into the corner of the couch. "You pout when you sleep."
"Huh?"
"Like an angry little pout," he said, demonstrating with his lips. "It's the hottest thing I've ever seen. I thought you might give me a real talking to like my old gym teacher. Man, did that bitch hate me."
"I'm sure she had her reasons."
Cooper snorted. "Of course, you'd take a stranger's side over the guy who's feeding you."
"Maybe you called her a bitch forty times."
"Yeah, there was that. #Quote by Bijou Hunter
Teacher quotes by Aristotle.
#161. Teachers, who educate children, deserve more honour than parents, who merely gave them birth; for the latter provided mere life, while the former ensure a good life. #Quote by Aristotle.
Teacher quotes by Frederick Lenz
#162. Even to the sage who's doing Sahaja Samadhi, the great guru, I'd say: "Hey buddy, you know, I like the robes and everything, but remember, you're only touching infinity. And if you claim to be doing more, I think you're pretty much in the senses and the body and the mind because infinity is endless." #Quote by Frederick Lenz
Teacher quotes by Morgan Wootten
#163. You are the real teachers. You have these children when they are at their emotional peaks and lows. That's when they are the most pliable. It doesn't take any intelligence to send a kid home with his head hanging between his knees. But to send him home with his head up every night might show a little coaching. #Quote by Morgan Wootten
Teacher quotes by Charles Sanders Peirce
#164. In all the works on pedagogy that ever I read - and they have been many, big, and heavy - I don't remember that any one has advocated a system of teaching by practical jokes, mostly cruel. That, however, describes the method of our great teacher, Experience. #Quote by Charles Sanders Peirce
Teacher quotes by Pat Conroy
#165. Though I've never met a teacher who was not happy in retirement, I rarely meet one who thinks that their teaching life was not a grand way to spend a human life. The unhappy ones are the young ones, those who must teach in public schools when the whole nation seems at war with the very essence of teaching. #Quote by Pat Conroy
Teacher quotes by Frederick Lenz
#166. I am very interested in the enlightenment of women. Very few teachers of advanced self discovery work with women, and if they do it's usually in a very second handed way. They treat women as second class citizens. #Quote by Frederick Lenz
Teacher quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
#167. Some teachers only teach us and go but some teachers teach us and they leave indelible footprints which continue to teach us forever! Great teachers live and leave distinctive footprints. Teacher quotes by Cal Thomas
#168. No child is taught to kill, but he has to be taught to love, respect, honor and value, not only his own life, but the lives of his classmates, parents and teachers. He has to experience love and acceptance. He has to know his life has purpose and meaning. No amount of money can do that. #Quote by Cal Thomas
Teacher quotes by Frederick Lenz
#169. It takes quite a bit of time to become enlightened. But it really is not so different from learning any other art; all you need is time, a good teacher, and practice. #Quote by Frederick Lenz
Teacher quotes by Marita A. Hansen
#170. Jenna walked in between desks and plonked herself down behind hers, noticing AGAIN that the teacher hadn't graced the class with his zitty presence. She thought Mr. Kennan needed to get fired, which said a lot, because she rarely paid attention to ugly teachers. She'd discussed this with the principal two weeks back when she'd been sent to his office after getting caught sleeping. She'd told him that if he employed more hot teachers like Mr. Daniels then maybe she wouldn't pass out from boredom. The principal gave her a week's detention because of that comment, saying that she needed to take things more seriously. But she WAS being serious.
Jenna Hamilton from Graffiti Heaven (Chapter 28). #Quote by Marita A. Hansen

Teacher quotes by William Bagley
#173. When will the public cease to insult the teacher's calling with empty flattery? Teacher quotes by Iyanla Vanzant
#174. As people, we have forgotten to be people. We know how to be doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers, we know what to do, we know what to buy, but how do I just sit with you in your pain? How do I sit with you in your vulnerability and not betray you, not abuse you? We do not know how to do that, even in our homes. #Quote by Iyanla Vanzant
Teacher quotes by Chelsea Handler
#175. According to an article on CNN.com, a new study says people who are bad kissers don't get laid. Where are you supposed to learn how to kiss? #177. In high school, I had a wonderful teacher who, coincidentally also taught Meryl Streep before me. At the same time I had my own rock band, I played bass and sang. Teacher quotes by Joan Robinson
#181. Progress is slow partly from mere intellectual inertia. In a subject where there is no agreed procedure for knocking out errors, doctrines have a long life. A professor teaches what he was taught, and his pupils, with a proper respect and reverence for teachers, set up a resistance against his critics for no other reason than that it was he whose pupils they were. #Quote by Joan Robinson
Teacher quotes by Julia DeVillers
#182. Nurse! Nurse!" A teacher came running in, dragging a boy with her. "A student cut his finger!" "It's just a paper cut," the kid said. "Jeez." "We have a bleeder! We have a bleeder!" the nurse announced dramatically. "Everyone to a cot!" The kid looked embarrassed but otherwise fine. I, on the other hand, was embarrassed and not fine. #Quote by Julia DeVillers

Teacher quotes by Rajneesh
#187. A real Master is not a teacher: a real Master is an awakener. His function is totally different from a teacher; his function is far more difficult. And only very few people can stay with a Master because to wake up after millions of lives is not an ordinary feat; it is a miracle. And to allow somebody to wake you up needs great trust, great surrender. #Quote by Rajneesh

Teacher quotes by Carl Jung
#190. One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child. #Quote by Carl Jung
Teacher quotes by Melissa Jensen
#191. The floor was full of crepe streamer seaweed and decomposing pirates. Or at least so it seemed. Half of the male population of Willing was out srutting its stuff in frilly shirts, head scarves, and gruesome makeup. Although, to be fair, some of the contorted faces had more to do with exertion than costume-store goop. Some boys need to concentrate really hard if they want to get their limbs to work with the music. It looked like "Thriller" meets Titanic.
Of course, the other half was blinding. As predicted, sequins reigned. Also as predicted, the costume of choice was some sort of skirt(the smaller the better) paired with a bikini top (ditto). As I watched from my seat at the edge of the gym,a mousy physics teacher dressed in a rotuned foam sea-horse suit had a brief, finger-waggling argument with a mermaid over the size ofher shells. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but the hand gestures said plenty. The teacher won; Shell Girl stalked off in a huff. She stopped halfway off the floor to do an angry, hokey-pokey leg shake to disentangle a length of paper seaweed from around her ankle. A group of mathletes watched her curiously. One,wearing what looked like a real antique diving suit, even tried an experimental shake of his own leg before another elbowed him into stillness. #Quote by Melissa Jensen
Teacher quotes by Ricky Skaggs
#192. I had some good teachers. One of the greatest teachers I've had is bluegrass music: going back and listening to Bill Monroe's music, the Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs. When I was with Ralph Stanley I learned a lot from him. #Quote by Ricky Skaggs
Teacher quotes by Sharon Salzberg
#193. I once complained to my teacher Munindra-Ji about being unable to maintain a regular practice. 'When I sit at home and meditate and it feels good, I'm exhilarated, and I have faith and I know that it's the most important thing in my life,' I said. 'But as soon as it feels bad, I stop. I'm disheartened and discouraged so I just give up.' He gave me quite a wonderful piece of advice. 'Just put your body there, ' he said. 'That's what you have to do. Just put your body there. Your mind will do different things all of the time, but you just put your body there. Because that's the expression of commitment, and the rest will follow from that. #Quote by Sharon Salzberg
Teacher quotes by Isaac Asimov
#194. Congratulations on the new library, because it isn't just a library. It is a space ship that will take you to the farthest reaches of the Universe, a time machine that will take you to the far past and the far future, a teacher that knows more than any human being, a friend that will amuse you and console you-and most of all, a gateway, to a better and happier and more useful life. #Quote by Isaac Asimov

Teacher quotes by John McGahern
#196. Dark, was banned by the Irish state censor for obscenity. The story was set, as so much of McGahern's later fiction would be, in isolated rural Ireland and dealt with the bleak consequences of parental and clerical child abuse. On the instructions of the Archbishop of Dublin, McGahern was sacked from his job as a primary school teacher. He later left the country. Despite these apparent setbacks, McGahern's literary friends reassured him that all this was a wonderful opportunity in terms of publicity and sales. Remember Joyce and Beckett being forced overseas? This was Irish literary history repeating itself, and preparations were soon being made to mount a campaign against the anachronistic and widely derided censorship laws with McGahern as the figurehead.

McGahern agreed that the situation was indeed absurd, and says that even as an adolescent reader he had nothing but contempt for the censorship board. #Quote by John McGahern
Teacher quotes by Joe Navarro
#197. If you are a parent, teacher, camp counselor, or school resource officer and you see children severely change or restrain their arm behavior around their parents or other adults, at a minimum it should arouse your interest and promote further observation. Cessation of arm movement is part of the limbic system's freeze response. To the abused child, this adaptive behavior can mean survival. #Quote by Joe Navarro
Teacher quotes by Daesung
#198. When I was studying in secondary school, a teacher recommended me during a singing contest. I took the championship because of my voce that I take proud of. Then I thought maybe my voice is not bad, then I wanted to be a singer. #Quote by Daesung
Teacher quotes by David McCullough
#199. Little children can learn anything, just as they can learn a foreign language. The mind is so absorbent then. There ought to be a real program to educate teachers who want to teach grade school children about history. #Quote by David McCullough
