#44. If we limit our sight to individual players, we'll never see the big picture. The issue is a systemic one, maintained by interconnected actors, all acting in their self-interest to further their goals. Instead, it's the overarching goal of the entire system that's at fault: corporate profit above public health. #Quote by T. Colin Campbell

#75. Players have responsibility, and if they don't do their job, certain things happen. Coaches have responsibility. If they don't do their job, things happen. #Quote by Mike Singletary
Players quotes by Henry James
#76. When you lay down a proposition which is forthwith controverted, it is of course optional with you to take up the cudgels in its defence. If you are deeply convinced of its truth, you will perhaps be content to leave it to take care of itself; or, at all events, you will not go out of your way to push its fortunes; for you will reflect that in the long run an opinion often borrows credit from the forbearance of its patrons. In the long run, we say; it will meanwhile cost you an occasional pang to see your cherished theory turned into a football by the critics. A football is not, as such, a very respectable object, and the more numerous the players, the more ridiculous it becomes. Unless, therefore, you are very confident of your ability to rescue it from the chaos of kicks, you will best consult its interests by not mingling in the game. #Quote by Henry James
Players quotes by David Maraniss

Players quotes by Dr. John
#81. When I was a little kid wanting to play music, it was because of people like Pete Johnson, Huey Smith, Allen Toussaint, Professor Longhair, James Booker, Art Neville ... there was so many piano players I loved in New Orleans. Then there was guys from out of town that would come cut there a lot. There was so many great bebop piano players, so many great jazz piano players, so many great Latin piano players, so many great blues piano players. Some of those Afro-Cuban bands had some killer piano players. There was so many different things going on musically, and it was all of interest to me. #Quote by Dr. John
Players quotes by Sherry Turkle
#82. From the earliest days, videogame players were less interested in winning than in going to a new psychic place where things were always a bit different, but always the same. The gambler and the videogame player share a life of contradiction; you are overwhelmed, and so you disappear into the game. #Quote by Sherry Turkle

Players quotes by Taya Kyle
#93. Before Chris passed away, I'd volunteered to coach Angel's soccer team in our local recreational league. It was a commitment I vowed to keep. I was determined to show those little girls how to succeed on the soccer "pitch," as the field is sometimes called.
I may have gone a little overboard. I mean, how many six-year-old girls have the misfortune of being coached by the wife of a SEAL?
Day One:
"We start by running!" I shouted enthusiastically. "Everyone run around the park. Let's go."
"The soccer field, Mrs. Kyle?" asked a player.
"No! The entire complex. Come on!"
I'm guessing it was maybe five or six times as far as they'd ever run before--or maybe ten or twenty--and a good deal farther than many teams with considerably older players ran. But the girls were good sports about it. We built endurance and worked on drills, and we had fun--you never knew when the coach might grab one the of the players and twirl her around enthusiastically for doing a good job.
"I'm taking goal," I'd say when shooting practice wasn't going well. "Anyone who can hurt me gets an extra piece of candy!"
I gave out a lot of candy that afternoon.
We were a young team and a little rough at first, but we got better as we went. It was fun to watch the transition many of the girls made over the length of the season--they not only got in better shape and learned to play soccer better, but they seemed more confident as well.
I will guarantee one thing: th #Quote by Taya Kyle

Players quotes by Nick Faldo
#95. It goes without saying that it is no good having a perfect setup, perfect grip and perfect golf swing if the whole thing is misaligned. It sounds obvious but many players simply do not spend enough time getting themselves on target. #Quote by Nick Faldo
Players quotes by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Players quotes by Cari Beauchamp
#97. Today, names of screenwriters like Zoe Akins, Jeanie Macpherson, Beulah Marie Dix, Lenore Coffee, Anita Loos, June Mathis, Bess Meredyth, Jane Murfin, Adela Rogers St. Johns, Sonya Levien, and Salka Viertel are too often found only in the footnotes of Hollywood histories. But seventy years ago, they were highly paid, powerful players at the studios that churned out films at the rate of one a week. And for over twenty-five years, no writer was more sought after than Frances Marion; with her versatile pen and a caustic wit, she was a leading participant and witness to one of the most creative eras for women in American history. #Quote by Cari Beauchamp

Players quotes by Gabe Polsky
#99. What I found interesting about Slava Fetisov was that he went through three different generations of Soviet hockey. In the late 70's, he experienced the Miracle on Ice, and then in the 80's became with his teammates the Russian Five, the most dominant team in the history of hockey, and then helped bring down the hockey system when the Soviet Union collapsed and became one of the first players to play in the NHL, and then ultimately came back to Russia. #Quote by Gabe Polsky

Players quotes by Cristina Alger
#112. And what should he have known? Well, who could answer that? Thought he was closer to all the players than anyone, he still couldn't identify who was responsible and who wasn't. Really responsible, not just "look the other way" responsible. They all were, in some larger sense. And yet, while he knew this was a wholly indefensible position, he felt that somehow none of them were, either. Just like the guys at Lehmen, or Bear Stearns, or AIG. Just like the guys at Delphic. It became a game, a contest; the only rules that governed were what made you money and what didn't. All Paul did was hang the hell on and try not to get thrown. #Quote by Cristina Alger
Players quotes by Ritchie Blackmore
#113. I had given up the guitar between '75 and '78. I completely lost interest. I was sick of hearing other guitar players and I was tired of my tunes. #Quote by Ritchie Blackmore
Players quotes by William C. Rhoden
#114. The reports of racial episodes are disturbing. But the players' protest is exhilarating because it is the most high-profile example to date in a continuing revolution in which the athletes who drive the multibillion-dollar college sports machine have begun to use their visibility to demand change. #Quote by William C. Rhoden
Players quotes by Pal Benko
#115. Sometimes players need to gain time on the clock by repeating the position, but most often its purpose is to wear down the opponent psychologically. #Quote by Pal Benko
Players quotes by Patrick Rothfuss
#116. You see, a laurel needs to grow. I can't do much about that. But I can keep the rain off a few musicians heads, can't I?" A sly smile wound it's way onto his face. "So God will tend the laurels and keep them wet. And I will tend the players and keep them dry. And wiser minds than mine will decide when to bring the two together." -Count Threpe #Quote by Patrick Rothfuss
Players quotes by John Mayall
#117. I always make it a point to pick songs on which players really shine. #Quote by John Mayall
Players quotes by Herbert Von Karajan
#118. I have often said to the orchestra, especially to the younger players, 'Do your best, and love what you are doing, because you are allowed to do this thing.' By this I mean, they can do what millions of people cannot do. Many people cannot think of playing music or listening to it until six o'clock in the evening. To be involved professionally in a thing as creative as this is a great privilege and we have a duty to make it in such a way that we can help bring pleasure and a sense of fulfillment to those who are not so fortunate. #Quote by Herbert Von Karajan
Players quotes by Saina Nehwal
#119. Badminton will gain momentum in a big manner after my win in Olympics. More players will participate in the game now. #Quote by Saina Nehwal
Players quotes by Ron Jaworski
#120. One of the things I noticed more in this draft than in any recent drafts was the importance of the character issue. Players who had baggage, like Justice, fell much farther than his talent dictated. But a lot of coaches didn't want to take the chance. #Quote by Ron Jaworski
Players quotes by James P. Carse
#121. If as a people infinite players cannot go to war against a people, they can act against war itself within whatever state they happen to reside. In one way their opposition to war resembles that of finite players: Each is opposed to the existence of a state. But their reasons and the strategies for attempting to eliminate states are radically different. Finite players go to war against states because they endanger boundaries; infinite players oppose states because they engender boundaries. #Quote by James P. Carse
Players quotes by Ivan Lendl
#122. Many times the players get in there and it's just about as well as they could have done, and other times they get in there and they favorites and they don't win. #Quote by Ivan Lendl
Players quotes by Rick Pitino
#123. I can say that hands down from being in this business 32 years; we're going to be much better than we were last year just because there's eight new players that now have experience and Palacios will be healthy. #Quote by Rick Pitino
Players quotes by Jerry West
#124. There are many players who don't measure up to their marketability. #Quote by Jerry West
Players quotes by Jock Stein
#125. Celtic jerseys are not for second best, they don't shrink to fit inferior players #Quote by Jock Stein
Players quotes by Cristiano Ronaldo
#126. At Real, psychological pressure on the players is much more serious than at United. This is good. At many clubs, you don't know the consequence of playing badly. #Quote by Cristiano Ronaldo
Players quotes by Johnny Weir
#127. Statistically, I'd say there are about as many gay figure skaters as there are gay football players. The majority are straight. There are just those few exceptions, and those are the ones who have gotten picked on and followed over the years. #Quote by Johnny Weir
Players quotes by Keyshawn Johnson
#128. There are already gay players in the NFL and have been for a while. #Quote by Keyshawn Johnson

Players quotes by Leigh Steinberg
#130. But the equipment to protect the players hasn't developed along with that, so now you have more players out with worse injuries, for longer periods of time. #Quote by Leigh Steinberg
Players quotes by Kirk Hammett
#131. I didn't want to fall into the trap of competing with all these other great guitar players. I just want to sidestep the whole thing and get out of the race. #Quote by Kirk Hammett
Players quotes by Kobe Bryant
#132. Teach players the game at an early age and stop treating them like cash cows for everyone to profit off of. #Quote by Kobe Bryant
Players quotes by Hugh Laurie
#133. Some people are drawn naturally - there are natural guitarists, and there are natural piano players, and I think guitar implies travel, a sort of footloose gypsy existence. You grab your bag and you go to the next town. #Quote by Hugh Laurie
Players quotes by Michael Jordan
#134. I think school is very important and I personally had a great experience at North Carolina, which helped shape me as a basketball player and a person. Every once in a while, you will have a player who can make the jump and have an immediate impact on the professional level, but most of the players who come out would absolutely benefit from going to college. #Quote by Michael Jordan
Players quotes by Walter Dean Myers
#135. What I found fascinating was just how quickly the best of the young Negro League players were drafted into the major leagues once Branch Rickey broke the color line by hiring Jackie Robinson. It was clear that all of the major league owners already knew the talents of the black ballplayers that they had refused to let into their league. #Quote by Walter Dean Myers
Players quotes by Amy Efaw
#136. Her keeper jersey; she thinks of it now. The number 1 on its back. A lonely number. Only one goalkeeper on the field. Only one player who guards the net. Only one who stands strong and alone behind the other ten players on the field. No place to hide. No way to disappear. #Quote by Amy Efaw
Players quotes by Bob Feller
#137. You figure they cheat at the ballpark, they'll cheat on the golf course, they'll cheat in business, and anything else in life. Players may laugh about it and say it's funny, but right down in their heart, they don't think it's funny at all, and they have no respect for a person who cheats. #Quote by Bob Feller
Players quotes by Kevin Hearne
#138. I promptly forgot about him and prepared a blend of Creativi-Tea, since I had some fantasy role-players coming in for their weekly dungeon crawl, and the DM always wanted a little something extra to keep him on top of his players. #Quote by Kevin Hearne
Players quotes by Fernando Perez
#139. Playing catch is often the first professional act of the day, it's a transition from personal life to team business. Lastly, as all position players think they can pitch, at least half of us are working on our off-speed stuff likely at the detriment of our elbows and shoulders, but we can't help it. It's too much fun. My changeup has come a long way since high school. #Quote by Fernando Perez
Players quotes by Aristotle.
#140. People become house builders through building houses, harp players through playing the harp. We grow to be just by doing things which are just. #Quote by Aristotle.
Players quotes by Caitlin Lowe
#141. I think that certain players are going to approach the game differently. I am more of a quiet person. I like to have more of a focused energy and internal energy whereas some people need to be bouncing off the walls to be ready for the game. #Quote by Caitlin Lowe
Players quotes by Jack Ramsay
#142. Even the greatest players accept coaching and value the need for discipline and the order that it brings to the team #Quote by Jack Ramsay
Players quotes by Jimmy Hill
#143. He [Beckham] has two feet, which a lot of players don't have nowadays. #Quote by Jimmy Hill
Players quotes by Michael Cera
#144. Baseball players tend to have something like 20 good years in them and then around their mid-thirties they aren't in the same shape as the young guys in the league and kind of aren't worth as much. Then they retire before 40. And they are left floating adrift in the middle of the ocean. #Quote by Michael Cera
Players quotes by Steve Swallow
#145. Partisans present some of the most refreshing music I've heard in a long while, uncompromising, very well written and very well played. It demands serious attention. I hear in these players a sense of common purpose and resolve, and a strong command of a dialect uniquely suited to this music. It's heartening to hear music that looks to find its own particular place. #Quote by Steve Swallow
Players quotes by Neal A. Maxwell
#146. Enthusiasm needs to be effective enthusiasm. We must distinguish between the contribution and enthusiasm of the cheerleader and the enthusiasm of the player. While cheerleaders serve an important purpose, the real contest involves players on the field or on the court of life. We must not go through life acting only as enthusiastic cheerleaders available for hire; we must be anxiously and personally engaged. #Quote by Neal A. Maxwell
Players quotes by Tex Winter
#147. I think there's an awful lot of ball players with great skills, but whether or not they're going to be on winning teams is not going to be answered until you see how they fit in to a team or a program. If they don't, it may be their fault or it may be their coaches. #Quote by Tex Winter
Players quotes by Ronaldinho
#148. Football is a great love because I was born into a family of players and therefore born into football. I'm fortunate to have a style of play that a lot of people like. It's a privilege to be able to do what I like best and in my own way, but I'm fortunate that people like it, and that motivates me even more. #Quote by Ronaldinho
Players quotes by Alex Ferguson
#149. Critics have always questioned whether players like Pele from the 50s could play today. Lionel Messi could play in the 1950s and the present day, as could Di Stefano, Pele, Maradona, Cruyff because they are all great players. Lionel Messi without question fits into that category. #Quote by Alex Ferguson
Players quotes by Thad Matta
#150. Don't be afraid to let your players know how much you care about them #Quote by Thad Matta

Players quotes by Sourav Ganguly

Players quotes by Fabio Capello
#154. He will be England captain one day. Jack Wilshere is a real leader. I saw how he spoke with the referee and the other players [against Denmark]. It is difficult to find someone so young with such a big personality. I remember two defenders, Paolo Maldini and Franco Baresi, and one attacker, Raul, but for personality and confidence on the pitch he is the best young midfielder I have seen for his age. #Quote by Fabio Capello
Players quotes by Brian Eno
#155. I describe things in terms of body movements. I dance a bit to describe what sort of movement it ought to make, and that's a good way of talking to musicians. Particularly bass players. #Quote by Brian Eno
Players quotes by Michael Cera
#156. I heard Bob Weinstein actually likened actors to baseball players. You work for a while then all of a sudden you go through a dry spell. #Quote by Michael Cera

Players quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
#160. Man was born to be rich, or grow rich by use of his faculties, by the union of thought with nature. Property is an intellectual production. The game requires coolness, right reasoning, promptness, and patience in the players. #Quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Players quotes by Sonny Vaccaro
#161. One-and-done is the most damaging thing in college basketball. It brings money into the college game, because it kickstarts the bidding war. When you know a kid can't turn pro and is going to go to school for one year and then go pro, that's when you see everyone going to games and courting players. #Quote by Sonny Vaccaro
Players quotes by Jerry Tarkanian
#162. Yelling doesn't win ball games. It doesn't put any points on the scoreboard. And I don't think words win ball games all the time. Players do. Preparation does. #Quote by Jerry Tarkanian
Players quotes by Andre Agassi
#163. No athletes talk to themselves like tennis players. Pitchers, golfers, goalkeepers, they mutter to themselves, but tennis players talk to themselves-and answer. Tennis players look like lunatics in a public square. #Quote by Andre Agassi
Players quotes by Vince Lombardi
#164. I hold it more important to hold the player's confidence than their affection. #Quote by Vince Lombardi
Players quotes by Gene Hackman
#165. Five players on the floor functioning as a single unit: team, team, team-no one more important than the other. #Quote by Gene Hackman
Players quotes by David Cone
#166. The owners said that they wanted the salary cap and refused to promise that they would abide by the rules of the just-expired contract after the season ended. Believing we had no choice, the players went on strike in August of 1994. #Quote by David Cone
Players quotes by Gordon Taylor
#167. David Beckham is a patriot, and I am sure he will help in any way he can. Beckham needs to be part of any future plans to remould the England set-up. Beckham and players like him need to be integrated into the set-up in the same way that the Germans take on board former players from Beckenbauer to Rummenigge. #Quote by Gordon Taylor
Players quotes by Samuel Reshevsky
#168. Young players calculate everything, a requirement of their relative inexperience. #Quote by Samuel Reshevsky
Players quotes by Alex Ferguson
#169. I was doing all the coaching schools so that I'd be able to stay in the game, and I gave myself a chance by doing that. I was only an average player, could score a goal or two, that sort of thing, but I wasn't a Bobby Charlton or a Messi, or Ronaldo. There are very, very few really great players who have become great coaches. #Quote by Alex Ferguson
Players quotes by Dusty Baker
#170. I love sharing my knowledge of hitting with others. Now coaches and players at all levels can learn my systematic approach to hitting a baseball with more consistency, mental strength and accuracy. #Quote by Dusty Baker
Players quotes by Ella Wheeler Wilcox
#171. Though critics may bow to art, and I am its own true lover,
It is not art, but heart, which wins the wide world over.

Though smooth be the heartless prayer, no ear in Heaven will mind it,
And the finest phrase falls dead if there is no feeling behind it.

Though perfect the player's touch, little, if any, he sways us,
Unless we feel his heart throb through the music he plays us.

Though the poet may spend his life in skilfully rounding a measure,
Unless he writes from a full, warm heart he gives us little pleasure.

So it is not the speech which tells, but the impulse which goes with the saying;
And it is not the words of the prayer, but the yearning back of the praying.

It is not the artist's skill which into our soul comes stealing
With a joy that is almost pain, but it is the player's feeling.

And it is not the poet's song, though sweeter than sweet bells chiming,
Which thrills us through and through, but the heart which beats under the rhyming.

And therefore I say again, though I am art's own true lover,
That it is not art, but heart, which wins the wide world over. #Quote by Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Players quotes by Gautam Gambhir
#172. I believe in backing players and helping them out with their game. #Quote by Gautam Gambhir
Players quotes by James P. Carse
#173. Because infinite players prepare themselves to be surprised by the future, they play in complete openness. It is not an openness as in candor, but an openness as in vulnerability. It is not a matter of exposing one's unchanging identity, the true self that has always been, but a way of exposing one's ceaseless growth, the dynamic self that has yet to be. #Quote by James P. Carse
Players quotes by Kurt Rambis
#174. But I'm confident that my work - and the work of my staff - with our many young players over the last two years will begin to pay off for Mr. Taylor and Timberwolves fans. Now, as important new players are added to the mix, the future of this franchise should be a bright one, and I am thankful for the chance I had, to play a part in shaping that future. #Quote by Kurt Rambis

Players quotes by Frank Lampard

Players quotes by Avery Johnson
#178. There are a lot of things that make players really good coaches. Whether you've played in the NBA or not, there are certain things you have to master and be really good at. They just have to be gifted in these areas. You've got to be competent. Secondly, you've got to be able to communicate. You can have a picture in your mind on how to score but if you can't communicate it, if you can't teach it, what good is it? You've got to be brutally honest and be a man of strong character and then you've got to have class. They've got to respect you. #Quote by Avery Johnson
Players quotes by Richard Patrick
#179. I can do whatever I want, I can have my band, I can use different people, I can use studio players, it's complete, total freedom for me. If I want to make a video, now that I own my own record company, if the video has an American flame being engulfed by a huge puddle of oil, I can do that, I can say that if I want to. #Quote by Richard Patrick
Players quotes by Bob McNair
#180. The team comes first. We want to keep all of our players. We want to take care of all of our players, but the team comes first. #Quote by Bob McNair
Players quotes by Larry Bird

Players quotes by Daniel Negreanu
#186. Too many players focus on physical tells. For both online and live games, you should be focusing more on betting patterns and histories. The ability to figure out your opponent's hand based on his betting pattern is a crucial skill. #Quote by Daniel Negreanu
Players quotes by Jackson Browne
#187. Like, What is the least often heard sentence in the English language? That would be: Say, isn't that the banjo player's Porsche parked outside? #Quote by Jackson Browne
Players quotes by Dan Aykroyd
#188. James Brown opened at least six of our House of Blues clubs. He always delivered, but he demanded the respect of an emperor. But, come on, he's James Brown ! ... I got to play on stage with him. Did he ever fine me ? (Brown was known to fine players for flubbing notes or steps) - I would have loved to have been fined by James Brown ! #Quote by Dan Aykroyd
Players quotes by Jaka Tomc
#189. We are like chess players who are trying to predict the opponent's future moves, but in this case, we are dealing with life itself. True masters do not play the game on a single chessboard, but on multiple chessboards at the same time. And what's the difference between grandmasters and masters? Surprises. The moves that cannot be predicted by the opponent. Life can play a simultaneous game with seven billion people at the same time and it can take each and every one of us by surprise. And we still believe we are capable of winning, because we can predict three of four moves ahead. We are insignificant. #Quote by Jaka Tomc
Players quotes by Bobby Fischer
#190. In chess so much depends on opening theory, so the champions before the last century did not know as much as I do and other players do about opening theory. So if you just brought them back from the dead they wouldn't do well. They'd get bad openings. #Quote by Bobby Fischer
Players quotes by Marv Levy
#191. Bill Polian and I agreed when we first came together with the Buffalo Bills that we'd bring players only of high character to the team. #Quote by Marv Levy
Players quotes by David Gill

Players quotes by Robert Griffin III
#193. I hope somebody falls in love with me - other than my fiancee. But that's what you want. As a player you want a team that really wants you; head coach, GM, owner, everybody that really wants you in their place and the players believe in you. I'm looking forward to making somebody fall in love with me. #Quote by Robert Griffin III
Players quotes by Niccolo Machiavelli

Players quotes by Al McGuire
#198. I'm not saying that they were Einsteins; they were marginal students. But every ballplayer whoever touched me has moved up his station in life. And the players moved up my station. #Quote by Al McGuire
Players quotes by Ian Kinsler
#199. They wanted me to lead these young players, teach them the way to compete, when the only thing I should be worried about is how I'm performing in the game. #Quote by Ian Kinsler
