Hours quotes by Ai Yazawa
#1. Do you remember the time we met? The wind blew the snow about on the outside, the train moved, stopped, and then moved some more. It took us five hours to reach Tokyo, but I wasn't bored one bit. I didn't really get to hear so much about Nana. But I knew I would have loved ... To hear what Nana had to say about herself. - Nana Komatsu #Quote by Ai Yazawa
Hours quotes by Michael Crichton
#2. She had been living like a hermit herself, in a cramped, seedy apartment in Somerville, spending long hours in the lab. All-nighters had become a regular thing. She didn't have any close friends, didn't go out on dates, didn't even go to the movies by herself. She had sacrificed a normal life in order to get a PhD, and become a scientist. #Quote by Michael Crichton
Hours quotes by Ozzy Osbourne
#3. 'And what about a [band] name?' said Tony [Iommi]. The three of us looked at each other.
'We should all take a couple of days to think about it,' I said. 'I dunno about you two, but I've got a special place where I go to get ideas for important stuff like this. It's never failed me yet.'

Forty-eight hours later I blurted out: 'I've got it!'
'Must have been that dodgy bird you poked the other night,' said Geezer. 'Has your whelk turned green yet?'
Tony and Bill snickered into their plates of egg and chips. We were sitting in a greasy spoon caff in Aston. So far, everyone was getting along famously.
'Very funny, Geezer,' I said, waving an eggy fork at him. 'I mean the name for our band.'
The snickering died down.
'Go on then,' said Tony [Iommi].
'Well, I was on the shitter last night, and...'
'That's your special place?' spluttered Bill, blobs of mushed-up egg and HP sauce flying out of his mouth.
'Where the f**k did you think it was, Bill?' I said. 'The hanging gardens of f**king Babylon? #Quote by Ozzy Osbourne
Hours quotes by N.D. Wilson
#4. Lay your life down. Your heartbeats cannot be hoarded. Your reservoir of breaths is draining away. You have hands, blister them while you can. You have bones, make them strain-they can carry nothing in the grave. You have lungs, let them spill with laughter. With an average life expectancy of 78.2 years in the US (subtracting eight hours a day for sleep), I have around 250,00 conscious hours remaining to me in which I could be smiling or scowling, rejoicing in my life, in this race, in this story, or moaning and complaining about my troubles. I can be giving my fingers, my back, my mind, my words, my breaths, to my wife and my children and my neighbors, or I can grasp after the vapor and the vanity for myself, dragging my feet, afraid to die and therefore afraid to live. And, like Adam, I will still die in the end. #Quote by N.D. Wilson
Hours quotes by Philip Roth
#5. He winced when he stood
lumbago, he explained, from turning one too many sentences arounder that day
and said that he still his evening's reading. He did not do justice to a writer unless he read him on consecutive days and for no less than three hours at a sitting. Otherwise, despite his note taking and underlining, he lost touch with a book's inner life and might as well not have begun. Sometimes, when he unavoidably had to miss a day, he would go back and begin all over again, rather than be nagged by his sense that he was wronginger a serious author. #Quote by Philip Roth
Hours quotes by H.G.Wells
#6. If you are in difficulties with a book, try the element of surprise: attack it at an hour when it isn't expecting it. #Quote by H.G.Wells
Hours quotes by Barack Obama
#7. Five days a week, she came into my room at four in the morning, force-fed me breakfast, and proceeded to teach me my English lessons for three hours before I left for school and she went to work. #Quote by Barack Obama
Hours quotes by Mark Heard
#8. Music is a solace for me now. As I age, contrary to common sense, I am more and more drawn into it and apt to spend more of my waking and some of my sleeping hours thinking about it, or just feeling about it. It is my escape. #Quote by Mark Heard
Hours quotes by Sarah Dessen
#9. Everything seemed bright and different after so long in the darkness. Even though most of the businesses were closed, there was one neon sign lit in the window of a narrow storefront. COFFEE AND PIE, it read. Two bikes were parked just outside.

On the boardwalk, in the thrown light of the neon sign, his head dipped down as I pulled my fingers through his hair. The night still in progress, with daylight hours away. #Quote by Sarah Dessen
Hours quotes by Eric Brown
#10. Well, to be honest I think I'm a better short story writer than a novelist. Novels I find very hard, hours and hours, weeks and weeks, of conscious thought - whereas short stories slip out painlessly in a few days. #Quote by Eric Brown
Hours quotes by Walter Mosley
#11. One of the things that I love about being a writer is this. I wake up every day and I write for three hours. I wake up early. So like 6:00, 7:00 in the morning, I write till 9:00 or 10:00. I live in New York, nobody even is breathing until 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning. So, it's like my writing life is completely removed from the rest of my life. #Quote by Walter Mosley
Hours quotes by JJ Feild
#12. Oh my God, I could watch Jennifer Coolidge for hours. #Quote by JJ Feild
Hours quotes by Primo Levi
#13. For living men, the units of time always have a value, which increases in ratio to the strength of the internal resources of the person living through them; but for us, hours, days, months spilled out sluggishly from the future into the past, always too slowly, a valueless and superfluous material, of which we sought to rid ourselves as soon as possible ... For us, history had stopped. #Quote by Primo Levi
Hours quotes by Maggie Stiefvater
#14. Where are Sam and Grace?"
"Ringo left in his car a few hours ago. He must've taken Grace with him. I don't know where they went."
"You didn't ask?"
"We're not married" Cole said, and added, in a more humble tone, "yet". #Quote by Maggie Stiefvater
Hours quotes by Barbara Vine
#15. His books distracted him for a while. They were like the aspirins you take when you've got a headache. They kill the pain for two hours and then it comes back. #Quote by Barbara Vine
Hours quotes by Dan Savage
#16. Take me to the driest county in the most conservative state, and in two hours this determined hedonist will find you all the drugs, whores, and booze you'll need to pass an eventful weekend. #Quote by Dan Savage
Hours quotes by Charles M. Schwab
#17. Don't be afraid of imperilling your health by giving a few extra hours to the company that pays your salary! #Quote by Charles M. Schwab
Hours quotes by Charles Seife
#18. There are many ways to generate numerical falsehoods from data, many ways to create proofiness from even valid meaurements. Causuistry distorts the relationships between two sets of numbers. Randumbness creates patterns where none are to be found. Regression to the moon disguises nonsense in mathematical-looking lines or equations or formulae, making even the silliest ideas seem respectable. Such as the one described by this formula:
Callipygianness=(S+C)x(B+F)/T-V)
Where S is shape, C is circularity, B is bounciness, F ir firmness, T is texture, and V is waist-to-hip ratio. This formula was devised by a team of academic psychologists after many hours of serious research into the female derriere. Yes, indeed. This is supposed to be the formula for the perfect butt.

It fact, it's merely a formula for a perfect ass #Quote by Charles Seife
Hours quotes by Michael O'Leary
#19. It's a great incentive to work long hours. I limit the holiday to two weeks and then get the hell back to the office. If I had my choice I wouldn't take holidays but my wife insists on time with the kids. That's enough. Prior to getting married I never took a holiday. #Quote by Michael O'Leary
Hours quotes by Marie Lu
#20. Each day means a new twenty-four hours. Each day means everything's possible again. You live in the moment, you die in the moment, you take it all one day at a time. #Quote by Marie Lu
Hours quotes by Karen Quan
#21. I'm gonna go put my earplugs in and practice piano for hours until my fingers bleed. I practice the piano with the focus of Helen Keller - and nothing can distract me from the scent of the music.
-Karen Quan and Jarod Kintz #Quote by Karen Quan
Hours quotes by Bob Hartley
#22. I had a dream where I was taken to Heaven and brought into a beautiful library. There I was given two golden books that were covered with dust. The Lord told me they were golden treasure that was needed for the Body of Christ to have the knowledge to proceed and succeed in this hour. #Quote by Bob Hartley
Hours quotes by RM Vaughan
#23. I can't be the only insomniac who has looked out his living room window and thought, "Why don't we all get together? We're awake. We could swap sleep recipes, console each other, plot terrible crimes." But it won't happen, any gathering of the near-dead, because the only thing more abhorrent to a restless mind in the ugly hours than the actual harshness of the ugly hours is the thought of having to listen to somebody else. Somebody else in distress, also angry at the comfortable world. #Quote by RM Vaughan
Hours quotes by Christoph Spielberg
#24. have to wait for hours in the admitting room when you come in at night. They've learned that problem cases will be seen by five different specialists, that they'll get a real ECG and a pile of lab results, and even get X-rayed as a bonus - all within an hour or two of walking in the door. In private practice, such a rigorous battery of tests would take several stressful weeks, dozens of annoying phone calls, and countless hours reading dull magazines #Quote by Christoph Spielberg
Hours quotes by Gary Kemp
#25. For 24 hours a day, for 10 years, all I thought about was being in a band. That's all I did. I had no other social life. I don't want my life to be like that now. I've spent the past 10 years having a real life as well. But Spandau Ballet is such a difficult shadow to outrun. #Quote by Gary Kemp
Hours quotes by Malina Suliman
#26. If I start talking about my own hopes, it'll take hours. The biggest hope is that there's not any more discrimination between men and women. That women could have equal rights. It's very painful when you see in your family that a brother can do anything he wants, but at the same age, you can't. #Quote by Malina Suliman
Hours quotes by Annie Fellows Johnston
#27. I have to be by myself when I write, and I never know how long it will take. It is like making butter. Sometimes it will come in a few minutes, and sometimes I have to churn away for hours. #Quote by Annie Fellows Johnston
Hours quotes by Ella Dominguez
#28. Did I go deep?" I ask as she continues to rub herself. "Yes," she answers. "Good. I like you to be reminded of where I've been. You should be feeling that for the next 24 hours#Quote by Ella Dominguez
Hours quotes by Cynthia Lynden
#29. untrained dogs and they will urinate over them. Purchase a crate or cage that is big enough for your pup to lie down, turn around, and stand up in. Create a food and potty schedule. It should include: Meal Potty Time Play Time Training Time Sleep in Crate Repeat from A Every Four Hours No matter what, don't leave your poor pup in the crate all the time. At the same time, though, the crate should give it time to relax and nap between potty and play sessions. Walk the dog about 15-30 minutes after every meal. Always praise the dog for going outside. Never ever use hitting or yelling if the dog has an accident in the house. Now, as far as behavior training, you will need to follow a schedule to make sure neither you nor the pup gets too tired or frustrated. That's what we are going to talk about next. #Quote by Cynthia Lynden
Hours quotes by Chris Kraus
#30. Two hours ago I took a break from writing this to take a walk before the sun went down. I had an urge to play Willie Nelson's "Crazy" on the Red Hot Country CD before going out, but didn't. When I turned the bend on 49th Terrace, my usual walk, Crazy sung by Patsy Cline was pouring, I mean POURING, out the windows of a house. I leaned back against a fence across the street and watched the house lift off. An operatic, cinematic moment, everything locked into a single frame that gets you high. Like You I'm Trapped. #Quote by Chris Kraus
Hours quotes by Curtis Sittenfeld
#31. High school is very intense for everyone. But at a boarding school, because you're there 24 hours a day, everything gets magnified. #Quote by Curtis Sittenfeld
Hours quotes by Barbara Moses
#32. When was the last time you were so completely engaged and absorbed by your work that all of a sudden you looked up and said, "I can't believe it-five hours couldn't have passed!" This is what psychologists are calling "flow." When you achieve a state of flow, you feel a sensation of confidence, of being in control, of being engaged and focused. Flow is achieved when your work is performed in sync with your aptitudes and values. #Quote by Barbara Moses
Hours quotes by Robinson Jeffers
#33. Mountains, a moment's earth-waves rising and hollowing; the earth too's an ephemerid; the stars -
Short-lived as grass the stars quicken in the nebula and dry in their summer, they spiral
Blind up space, scattered black seeds of a future; nothing lives long, the whole sky's
Recurrences tick the seconds of the hours of the ages of the gulf before birth, and the gulf
After death is like dated: to labor eighty years in a notch of eternity is nothing too tiresome,
Enormous repose after, enormous repose before, the flash of activity.
Surely you never have dreamed the incredible depths were prologue and epilogue merely
To the surface play in the sun, the instant of life, what is called life? I fancy
That silence is the thing, this noise a found word for it; interjection, a jump of the breath at that silence;
Stars burn, grass grows, men breathe: as a man finding treasure says "Ah!" but the treasure's the essence:
Before the man spoke it was there, and after he has spoken he gathers it,
inexhaustible treasure. #Quote by Robinson Jeffers
Hours quotes by Frank Dobson
#34. The Government's enthusiasm for 24 hour drinking puzzles me ... We want people to be responsible, yet we urge them to drink. #Quote by Frank Dobson
Hours quotes by Rodney Dangerfield
#35. I tell ya, sex is getting harder all the time. Me and my wife were trying to have sex for hours last night and I finally gave up. I asked her, "what, you can't think of anybody either?" #Quote by Rodney Dangerfield
Hours quotes by Charles Krauthammer
#36. A one-hour work-week ... would minimize the damage that Congress can do. #Quote by Charles Krauthammer
Hours quotes by Kresley Cole
#37. Hours later Kaderin paced in the main cabin of the jet, furious over more things than she could process.
The first: because of the Lykae's stunt, she was being forced into this situation with Sebastian. And she'd left the diamonds. Silly Valkyrie.
The second: two of her half-sisters, her coven mates, had been wed, and she'd heard of it after the fact. They are so not getting gifts from me. Were her sisters that averse to her presence at weddings? Am I that dismal? #Quote by Kresley Cole
Hours quotes by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
#38. You are solidified silence, awareness. A thousand hours of speech cannot equal one glance: a hundred glances cannot equal a minute of silence #Quote by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Hours quotes by Geraldine Brooks
#39. At fifteen, I have taken up the burdens of a woman, and have come to feel I am one. Furthermore, I am glad of it. For I now no longer have the time to fall into such sins as I committed as a girl, when hours that were my own to spend spread before me like a gift. #Quote by Geraldine Brooks
Hours quotes by R.J. Palacio
#40. Mom and Dad came home two hours later. We knew the second they opened the door and Daisy wasn't with them that Daisy was gone. #Quote by R.J. Palacio
Hours quotes by H.P. Lovecraft
#41. I have an odd craving to whisper about those few frightful hours in that ill-rumoured and evilly shadowed seaport of death and blasphemous abnormality. #Quote by H.P. Lovecraft
Hours quotes by Curtis Sittenfeld
#42. I don't really have special rituals, but I don't try to write fiction unless I have a minimum of a few hours. For me, it takes a while to settle into a mode where I'm truly concentrating. #Quote by Curtis Sittenfeld
Hours quotes by Richard Bach
#43. Kindle Singles is publishing on skates. It prints like lightning; our book meets readers in hours. I've spent so many years waiting for publishers to consider whether they wanted to print a book of mine, making contracts, taking months to fit it into the Fall list or the Spring list, fitting it into an advertising plan. #Quote by Richard Bach
Hours quotes by Munia Khan
#44. My arrival
Her womb's delight
Her existence
My living light
Her wounds
My scars
Her skies
My stars
Her days
My hours
Her strength
My powers
I breathe my name
Being her child
Without mother
Life's beguiled
From the poem 'Mother #Quote by Munia Khan
Hours quotes by Jane Hirshfield
#45. Poems offer us counter-knowledges. They let us see what is invisible to ordinary looking, and to find in overlooked corners the opulence of our actual lives. Similarly, we usually spend our waking hours trying to be sure of things - of our decisions, our ideas, our choices. We so want to be right. But we walk by right foot and left foot. #Quote by Jane Hirshfield
Hours quotes by Shekhar Kapur
#46. Film is drama. You've only two hours, so you lie by exclusion, and try to make up for it by portraying the environment. #Quote by Shekhar Kapur
Hours quotes by Carol M. Tanzman
#47. Just making sure you know I got home. Two hours ago. when I beeped the first time.

Clearly, I am not cut out for a life of crime. #Quote by Carol M. Tanzman
Hours quotes by Chuck Klosterman
#48. I write pretty fast, probably faster than most people. But I might think about something for six hours, then write it in 20 minutes. So did I write for six hours and 20 minutes, or just 20 minutes? I used to write absolutely every day, except for days when I had to travel or something. #Quote by Chuck Klosterman
Hours quotes by Bram Stoker
#49. Far, far away, there is a beautiful Country which no human eye has ever seen in waking hours. Under the Sunset it lies, where the distant horizon bounds the day, and where the clouds, splendid with light and colour, give a promise of the glory and beauty which encompass it. Sometimes it is given to us to see it in dreams. #Quote by Bram Stoker
Hours quotes by Min Jin Lee
#50. Etsuko had to go back to the restaurant, but she settled on the sofa for a few minutes. When she had been a young mother there used to be only one time in her waking hours where she'd felt a kind of peace, and that was always after her children went to bed for the night. She longed to see her sons as they were back then: their legs chubby and white, their mushroom haircuts misshapen because they could never sit still at the barber. She wished she could take back the times she had scolded her children just because she was tired. There were so many errors. If life allowed revisions, she would let them stay in their bath a little longer, read them one more story before bed, and fix them another plate of shrimp. #Quote by Min Jin Lee
Hours quotes by Reid Scott
#51. Nothing is better than showing up twice a week, acting like a 12 year-old for two hours, and then going home. #Quote by Reid Scott
Hours quotes by Michele Jennae
#52. On the great canvas of time
We all create our own masterpiece.
Choreographing our steps across minutes and hours
Dancing over the days
Painting pictures over months and
Writing our stories on the years.
Singing our songs that echo across eons.
We are all a thread in the talent tapestry.
A snapshot in the cosmic, collective collage. #Quote by Michele Jennae
Hours quotes by Juan Manuel Fangio
#53. When I first came out of Argentina to Europe, the flight took 36 hours. Now it takes 12 hours, and the world is still shrinking. #Quote by Juan Manuel Fangio
Hours quotes by Lili Naghdi
#54. It is an undeniable fact that when you are solemnly in love with someone, seconds and minutes, hours and days lose their meaning. #Quote by Lili Naghdi
Hours quotes by Cynthia Bond
#55. John Imig, Damon O'Neil and Jason Parker of Swork Coffee, for the life-sustaining elixir, and for allowing me to rest, type and weep for hours into months into years. #Quote by Cynthia Bond
Hours quotes by J.D. Robb
#56. She sat down, grinned - and made her lip throb again. "I love you."
"Excellent news. You can prove it with lots of sex."
"We had sex a few hours ago."
"No, we made love a few hours ago - angels surely wept. I want sex for this job, as it's given me a buggering headache trying to straddle your far-famed line. I want mad sex, with costumes - maybe props - and an intriguing story line."
"Milking it, pal. #Quote by J.D. Robb
Hours quotes by Rainer Maria Rilke
#57. What is necessary, after all, is only this: solitude, vast inner solitude. To walk inside yourself and meet no one for hours - that is what you must be able to attain. #Quote by Rainer Maria Rilke
Hours quotes by Candice Millard
#58. When he arrived, he found that the two most important women in his life - his mother and his young wife - were dying. At 3:00 a.m. on February 14, Valentine's Day, Martha Roosevelt, still a vibrant, dark-haired Southern belle at forty-six, died of typhoid fever. Eleven hours later, her daughter-in-law, Alice Lee Roosevelt, who had given birth to Theodore's first child just two days before, succumbed to Bright's disease, a kidney disorder. That night, in his diary, Roosevelt marked the date with a large black "X" and a single anguished entry: "The light has gone out of my life. #Quote by Candice Millard
Hours quotes by Philip Dormer Stanhope
#59. Never seem more learned than the people you are with. Wear your learning like a pocket watch and keep it hidden. Do not pull it out to count the hours, but give the time when you are asked. #Quote by Philip Dormer Stanhope
Hours quotes by Gustave Flaubert
#60. One thinks of nothing,' he continued; 'the hours slip by. Motionless we traverse countries we fancy we see, and your thought, blinding with the fiction, playing with the details, follows the outline of the adventures. It mingles with the characters, and it seems as if it were yourself palpitating beneath their costumes. #Quote by Gustave Flaubert
Hours quotes by David Hall
#61. Love is when you can sit in front of each other for hours not saying anything, yet feel like you've had the best conversation possible. Love is when you can spend hours on end thinking about each other even when planets apart! #Quote by David Hall
Hours quotes by Marcel Proust
#62. He felt the inspirations of his youth, which had been dissipated by a frivolous life, stirring again in him, but they all bore now the reflection, the stamp of a particular being; and during the long hours which he now found a subtle pleasure in spending at home, alone with his convalescent soul, he became gradually himself again, but himself in thraldom to another. He #Quote by Marcel Proust
Hours quotes by Nancy Gibbs
#63. Time dissolves in summer anyway: days are long, weekends longer. Hours get all thin and watery when you are lost in the book you'd never otherwise have time to read. Senses are sharper - something about the moist air and bright light and fruit in season - and so memories stir and startle. #Quote by Nancy Gibbs
Hours quotes by Elizabeth Wein
#64. I had been in France less than 48 hours before that obliging agent of yours had to stop me being run over by a French van full of French chickens because I'd looked the wrong way before crossing the street. Which shows how cunning the Gestapo are. This person I've pulled from beneath the wheels of certain death was expecting traffic to travel on the left side of the road. Therefore she must be British, and is likely to have parachuted into Nazi-occupied France out of an Allied plane. I shall now arrest her as a spy. #Quote by Elizabeth Wein
Hours quotes by Jonathan Lethem
#65. I don't really ask of myself a given word or page count or number of hours. To work every day, that's my only fetish. And there is a physical quality to it when a novel is thriving. #Quote by Jonathan Lethem
Hours quotes by Angela Roquet
#66. After an hour's drive, he pulled off onto a gravel road and followed it back to a lake surrounded by woods. At one time, the place had been special. He had gone fishing there with his sons when they were younger. #Quote by Angela Roquet
Hours quotes by Blaise Pascal
#67. If we dreamed the same thing every night, it would affect us much as the objects we see every day. And if a common workman were sure to dream every night for twelve hours that he was a king, I believe he would be almost as happy as a king who should dream every night for twelve hours on end that he was a common workman. #Quote by Blaise Pascal
Hours quotes by Brandon Scott Gorrell
#68. It is 10 PM now, and Godzilla has been sitting at his desk in front of his laptop for six to seven hours. He has accomplished hardly anything today. Godzilla is drinking a lot of beer. He can not stop smoking cigarettes. His room is blue with cigarette smoke, and Godzilla sits on a chair in there, minimizing and maximizing Mozilla Firefox repeatedly. He is not over his girlfriend's house because she said on the cell phone that she needed time, alone, to think about their relationship. Godzilla worries that he will not be able to take care of himself if they break up. #Quote by Brandon Scott Gorrell
Hours quotes by Kate Atkinson
#69. Those fateful words We are now at war with Germany, and for several hours felt strangely numb. She tried to phone Pamela #Quote by Kate Atkinson
Hours quotes by Edward Said
#70. The particular threat to
the intellectual today, whether in the West or the nonWestern
world, is not the academy, nor the suburbs, nor the appalling commercialism of journalism and publishing
houses, but rather an attitude that I will call professionalism.
By professionalism I mean thinking of your work
as an intellectual as something you do for a living, between
the hours of nine and five with one eye on the clock, and
another cocked at what is considered to be proper, professional
behavior-not rocking the boat, not straying outside
the accepted paradigms or limits, making yourself marketable
and above all presentable, hence uncontroversial
and unpolitical and "objective. #Quote by Edward Said
Hours quotes by Garry Kasparov
#71. The ability to work hard for days on end without losing focus is a talent. The ability to keep absorbing new information after many hours of study is a talent. #Quote by Garry Kasparov
Hours quotes by John Angell James
#72. We should never forget that our time is among the talents for which we must give account at the judgment of God. Time being not the least precious of these, will be required with a strictness proportionate to its value. Let us tremble at this idea, as well we may. We must be tried not only for what we have done - but for what we had time to do, yet neglected to do it. Not only for the hours spent in sin - but for those wasted in idleness. Let us beware of that mode of spending time which some call killing it, for this murder, like others, will not always be concealed - the hours destroyed in secret will appear when we least expect it, to the unspeakable terror and amazement of our souls - they arise from the dead, and fly away to heaven, where they might have carried better news, and there tell sad tales of us, which we shall be sure to hear of again, when we hold up our hands at the bar, and they shall come as so many swift witnesses against us! #Quote by John Angell James
Hours quotes by Sarah Mackenzie
#73. It doesn't really matter if we have the most beautiful, carefully thought-out plan if there aren't enough hours in the day to get to it. Look, if God expected you to get 36 hours worth of work done in a day, he would have given you 36 hours to do it. If you have more to do than time to do it in, the simple fact is this: some of what you are doing isn't on His agenda for you. #Quote by Sarah Mackenzie
Hours quotes by Rick Yancey
#74. See him now, his face lit up with delight at the parade advancing on every side, of cart and carriage, delivery truck and spacious brougham, of ladies in their colorful crinoline and dandies dandier than the foppish fop astride boneshaker bicycles weaving between the vendors' carts as expertly as rodeo barrel racers. Sunset was still almost two hours hence, but the buildings on the western side cast long engulfing shadows, between which the granite pavement glowed honey gold in smoky shafts of slanting light, the light painting the facades along the eastern side the same Hyblaean hue. #Quote by Rick Yancey
Hours quotes by Joanna Newsom
#75. Come on home. The poppies are all grown knee-deep by now.
Blossoms all have fallen, and the pollen ruins the plow.
Peonies nod in the breeze,
and while they wetly bow
with hydrocephalitic listlessness,
ants mop up their brow.

And everything with wings is restless, aimless, drunk and dour;
butterflies and birds collide at hot, ungodly hours.
And my clay-colored motherlessness rangily reclines -
Come on home, now! All my bones are dolorous with vines. #Quote by Joanna Newsom
Hours quotes by Erika Johansen
#76. Sometime in the last forty-eight hours, Lily had discovered the great secret of pain: it thrived on the unknown, on the knowledge that there was a greater pain out there, something more excruciating that might yet be breached. The body was constantly waiting. When you took away the uncertainty, when you controlled the pain yourself, it was definitely easier to bear,... #Quote by Erika Johansen
Hours quotes by Alex Berenson
#77. I think when you have lawyers arguing over whether you can keep a detainee at 46 degrees ... for two hours, that's not torture. It may be unpleasant, it may be coercive ... but let's say what torture actually is, and that's not it. #Quote by Alex Berenson
Hours quotes by Kaley Cuoco
#78. I like to be home on a Friday night. I don't go out. I don't go to clubs. It's not my thing. I sit at home with my glass of wine and watch hours of reality TV. #Quote by Kaley Cuoco
Hours quotes by Martin Amis
#79. I looked at it out there. The figures that held my attention, as always (I too had an office at Buna, and spent many hours in front of its window), the figures that held my attention were not the men in stripes, as they queued or scurried in lines or entangled one another in a kind of centipedal scrum, moving at an unnatural speed, like extras in a silent film, moving faster than their strength or build could bear, as if in obedience to a frantic crank swivelled by a furious hand; the figures that held my attention were not the Kapos who screamed at the prisoners, nor the SS noncoms who screamed at the Kapos, nor the overalled company foremen who screamed at the SS noncoms. No. What held my eye were the figures in city business suits, designers, engineers, administrators from IG Farben plants in Frankfurt, Leverkusen, Ludwigshafen, with leather-bound notebooks and retractable yellow measuring tapes, daintily picking their way past the bodies of the wounded, the unconscious, and the dead. #Quote by Martin Amis
Hours quotes by P.G. Wodehouse
#80. How long Archibald slept he could not have said. He woke some hours later with a vague feeling that a thunderstorm of unusual violence had broken out in his immediate neighborhood. But this, he realized as the mists of slumber cleared away, was an error. The noise which had disturbed him was not thunder but the sound of someone snoring. Snoring like the dickens. The walls seemed to be vibrating like the deck of an ocean liner....

His spirit was not so completely broken as to make him lie supinely down beneath that snoring. The sound filled him, as snoring fills every right-thinking man, with a seething resentment and a passionate yearning for justice, and he climbed out of bed with the intention of taking the proper steps through the recognized channels. It is the custom nowadays to disparage the educational methods of the English public school and to maintain that they are not practical and of a kind to fit the growing boy for the problems of afterlife. But you do learn one thing at a public school, and that is how to act when somebody starts snoring.

You jolly well grab a cake of soap and pop in and stuff it down the blighter's throat. And this is what Archibald proposed - God willing - to do. #Quote by P.G. Wodehouse
Hours quotes by Daniel Wu
#81. If you're down to 6% body fat, which I've done before, you burn out really quickly. Like, in a couple hours, you're pretty much done, and then you're useless. #Quote by Daniel Wu
Hours quotes by Kahlil Gibran
#82. Once there lived in the ancient city of Afkar two learned men who hated and belittled each other's learning. For one of them denied the existence of the gods and the other was a believer.
One day the two met in the market-place, and amidst their followers they began to dispute and to argue about the existence or the non-existence of the gods. And after hours of contention they parted.
That evening the unbeliever went to the temple and prostrated himself before the altar and prayed the gods to forgive his wayward past.
And the same hour the other learned man, he who had upheld the gods, burned his sacred books. For he had become an unbeliever. #Quote by Kahlil Gibran
Hours quotes by Bryan Clay
#83. I train six to seven hours every single day. I wake up six days a week and know that it's going to be the same thing. #Quote by Bryan Clay
Hours quotes by Anne Rice
#84. There was never a mention, never a declaration or a decision. But the long hours of talking stopped. No more reading aloud, or music, or films. And after that there was simple physical affection, the two walking arm in arm, or Maharet at her reading with Mekare sitting motionless on a bench nearby. #Quote by Anne Rice
Hours quotes by Anthony Jeselnik
#85. I love Austin, but last time I was in town for twelve hours. I was exhausted, drunk and miserable. But none of that was Austin's fault. #Quote by Anthony Jeselnik
Hours quotes by Zoe Weil
#86. Each day we wake up and make myriad choices that affect others. We clothe ourselves with shirts, pants, and shoes that may have been sewn together by women working in factories fourteen-plus hours a day for a nonliving wage; we buy products manufactured in ways the destroy forests, pollute waterways, and poison the air; we wash our hair with shampoos that may have been squeezed into the eyes of conscious rabbits or force-fed to them in quantities that kill; and on and on. As Derrick Jensen has written in his book "The Culture of Make Believe", "It is possible to destroy a culture without being aware of its existence. It is possible to commit genocide or ecocide from the comfort of one's living room #Quote by Zoe Weil
Hours quotes by Philip Webb
#87. What? An alien. You think I'm from outer space." She snorts in disbelief. "I'm Kelly Tillman, you dumb-ass. From 41 Montana Avenue, Valentine, Texas. What's left of it. I canned seventh grade for a piece-of-crap job with lousy tips and lousy hours. You ain't telling me I'm the outsider here. No way. #Quote by Philip Webb
Hours quotes by Grete Waitz
#88. Running gives me a clearer perspective on the world ... I've always seen the world by running, and that has allowed me to view things in a different way. Places look different in the early-morning hours, when the streets are deserted. I've smelled crabs boiling on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco on my way to the Golden Gate Bridge, watched the sun rise over Diamond Head in Hawaii, and seen deer grazing on the Alps in St. Moritz, Switzerland. I clearly remember turning to my husband, Jack, in one of these places and saying, 'People don't know what they're missing.' #Quote by Grete Waitz
Hours quotes by Algernon Charles Swinburne
#89. Sweet for a little even to fear, and sweet,
O love, to lay down fear at love's fair feet;
Shall not some fiery memory of his breath
Lie sweet on lips that touch the lips of death?
Yet leave me not; yet, if thou wilt, be free;
Love me no more, but love my love of thee.
Love where thou wilt, and live thy life; and I,
One thing I can, and one love cannot - die.
Pass from me; yet thine arms, thine eyes, thine hair,
Feed my desire and deaden my despair.
Yet once more ere time change us, ere my cheek
Whiten, ere hope be dumb or sorrow speak,
Yet once more ere thou hate me, one full kiss;
Keep other hours for others, save me this.
Yea, and I will not (if it please thee) weep,
Lest thou be sad; I will but sigh, and sleep.
Sweet, does death hurt? thou canst not do me wrong:
I shall not lack thee, as I loved thee, long.
Hast thou not given me above all that live
Joy, and a little sorrow shalt not give?
What even though fairer fingers of strange girls
Pass nestling through thy beautiful boy's curls
As mine did, or those curled lithe lips of thine
Meet theirs as these, all theirs come after mine;
And though I were not, though I be not, best,
I have loved and love thee more than all the rest.
O love, O lover, loose or hold me fast,
I had thee first, whoever have thee last;
Fairer or not, what need I know, what care?
To thy fair bud my blossom onc #Quote by Algernon Charles Swinburne
Hours quotes by Julia Quinn
#90. What are you smiling about?" Benedict demanded.
She didn't bother to glance up as she replied, "I'm plotting your demise."
He grinned-not that she was looking at him, but it was one of those smiles she could hear in the way he breathed.
She hated that she as that sensitive to his every nuance. Especially since she had a sneaking suspicion that he was the same way about her.
"At least it sounds entertaining,"he said.
"What does?" she asked, finally moving her eyes from the lower hem of the curtain, which she'd been staring at for what seemed like hours.
"My demise," he said, his smile crooked and amused. "If you're going to kill me, you might as well enjoy yourself while you're at it, because Lord knows, I won't."
Her jaw dropped a good inch. "You're mad," she said. #Quote by Julia Quinn
Hours quotes by Emo Philips
#91. I read that nine out of 10 women fantasize about having an unknown man leap through their bedroom window at night and make mad, passionate love to them. Who would think with those odds, I would now be facing 150 hours of community service. #Quote by Emo Philips

#93. Lotto fever hit New York again this week, and like the old saying goes, 'You gotta be in it to win it' ... but first, you gotta have a dead end job so pathetic you're willing to kill five hours standing in line for a 1 in 25 million chance. #Quote by Dennis Miller

Hours quotes by Willie Nelson
#96. I have more dumb luck thank anybody I know. There must be a convey of guardian angels working twenty-four hours a day looking after me[ ... ] Like the night I first got to Nashville that I laid down in the middle of Broadway, waiting to get run over. It didn't happen [ ... ] I could swear they were keeping me alive just to see what I'd get next, I'm glad they feel that way. I'm trying to help them a little more this days. #Quote by Willie Nelson
Hours quotes by Olivia Cunning
#97. Hey, Lindsey," Kellen said, "could I get that sandwich to go? I forgot that Owen and I have somewhere we need to be in ten minutes."

"Where?" Jacob asked.
Kellen kicked him under the table. "You know. That thing we always do eight hours before a concert?"
"Masturbate?" Jacob said in all seriousness. #Quote by Olivia Cunning

Hours quotes by Stephenie Meyer
#99. I stared into her eyes, wide under the thick fringe of lashes, and yearned for sleep. Not for oblivion, as I had before, not to escape boredom, but because I wanted to *dream*. Maybe, if I could be unconscious, if I could dream, I could live for a few hours in a world where she and I could be together. She dreamed of me. I wanted to dream of her. #Quote by Stephenie Meyer

Hours quotes by Michelangelo
#101. Led by long years to my last hours, too late, O world, I know your joys for what they are. You promise a peace which is not yours to give and the repose that dies before it is born. The years of fear and shame to which Heaven now set a term, renew nothing in me but the old sweet error in which, living overlong a man kills his soul with no gain to his body. I say and I know having put it to the proof, that he has the better part in Heaven whose death falls nearest his birth. #Quote by Michelangelo
Hours quotes by Lord Dunsany
#102. There are loves that are each one the romance of a lifetime. Such a love must illumine the whole of a man's memories and light up all his years. It goes down time like lightning through the air. The length of it in hours is not to be measured. #Quote by Lord Dunsany
Hours quotes by Simon Munnery
#103. It is the vanity of women to spend hours in front of the mirror. It is the vanity of men not to bother. #Quote by Simon Munnery
Hours quotes by Anthony Powell
#104. This matter of being able to establish Barbara's whereabouts for a specific number of hours brought at least limited relief from agonies of ignorance as to what her movements might be, with consequent inability to exercise control over her in however slight a degree; for love of that sort - the sort where the sensual element has been reduced to a minimum - must after all, largely if not entirely, resolve itself to the exercise of power: a fact of which Barbara was, of course, more aware than I. #Quote by Anthony Powell
Hours quotes by Hjalmar Schacht

Hours quotes by Alistair MacLean
#106. They'll be coming for you, Mr. Jones. They'll be coming any moment now. I hate to say this, but I must. It is my duty to warn you what will happen to you, an enemy spy. You'll be tortured, Mr. Jones - not simply everyday tortures like pulling out your teeth and toe-nails, but unspeakable tortures I can't mention with Miss Ellison here - and then you'll finish in the gas chambers. If you're still alive.'

Mary clutched his arm. 'Would they - would they really do that?'

'Good God, no!' Smith stared at her in genuine surprise.

'What on earth would they want to do that for?' He raised his voice again: 'You'll die in a screaming agony, Mr. Jones, an agony beyond your wildest nightmares. And you'll take a long time dying. Hours. Maybe days. And screaming. Screaming all the time.'

'What in God's name am I to do?' The desperate voice from above was no longer quavering, it vibrated like a broken bed-spring. 'What can I do?'

'You can slide down that rope,' Smith said brutally. 'Fifteen feet. Fifteen little feet, Mr. Jones. My God, you could do that in a pole vault.'

'I can't.' The voice was a wail. 'I simply can't.'

'Yes, you can,' Smith urged. 'Grab the rope now, close your eyes, out over the sill and down. Keep your eyes closed. We can catch you.'

'I can't! I can't!'

'Oh God!' Smith said despairingly. 'Oh, my God! It's too late now.'

'It's too - what in heaven's name do you me #Quote by Alistair MacLean
Hours quotes by John T. Sonne
#107. They needed a date. They had been saying that for months. He would give her a date. He imagined grandiose affairs with fine clothes and elaborate food in luxurious surroundings. A film of her choice or a couple hours in a bookstore would have suited her, and him. This weekend would pass like all the others. Time would steadily work its way past them. Monday would bring another airplane. #Quote by John T. Sonne
Hours quotes by Louie Anderson

Hours quotes by J.K. Rowling
#109. Wow," he added, blinking rather rapidly as Hermione came hurrying toward them. "You look great!"
"Always the tone of surprise," said Hermione, though she smiled. She was wearing a floaty, lilac-colored dress with matching high heels; her hair was sleek and shiny. "Your Great-Aunt Muriel doesn't agree, I just met her upstairs while she was giving Fleur the tiara. She said, 'Oh dear, is this the Muggle-born?' and then, 'Bad posture and skinny ankles.'"
"Don't take it personally, she's rude to everyone," said Ron.
"Talking about Muriel?" inquired George, reemerging from the marquee with Fred. "Yeah, she's just told me my ears are lopsided. Old bat. I wish old Uncle Bilius was still with us, though; he was a right laugh at weddings."
"Wasn't he the one who saw a Grim and died twenty-hour hours later?" asked Hermione.
"Well, yeah, he went a bit odd toward the end," conceded George.
"But before he went loopy he was the life and soul of the party," said Fred. "He used to down an entire bottle of firewhisky, then run onto the dance floor, hoist up his robes, and start pulling bunches of flowers out of his--"
"Yes, he sounds a real charmer," said Hermione, while Harry roared with laughter.
"Never married, for some reason," said Ron.
"You amaze me," said Hermione. #Quote by J.K. Rowling

Hours quotes by Guru Angad
#116. Twenty-four hours a day one looks for contentment in eight different directions but one must also explore the ninth place, which is to their own body and contemplate within. Within the body are the nine treasures of the Name of the Lord - seek the depths of these virtues. Those blessed with the karma of good actions praise the Lord and become true devotees #Quote by Guru Angad
Hours quotes by Clarence Francis
#117. You can buy a man's time; you can buy his physical presence at a given place; you can even buy a measured number of his skilled muscular motions per hour. But you cannot buy enthusiasm ... you cannot buy loyalty ... you cannot buy the devotion of hearts, mind or souls. You must earn these. #Quote by Clarence Francis
Hours quotes by Holly Madison

Hours quotes by Rory Bremner
#119. Genealogy is among the fastest-growing leisure pursuits in the U.K. Indeed, the urge to uncover the truth about our ancestors has proved so compelling that, when the 1901 census first went online, the website crashed after a million people logged on within hours of its launch. #Quote by Rory Bremner
Hours quotes by Timothy Keller
#120. Prayer is always hard work, and often an agony. We sometimes have to wrestle even in order to pray. "When those hours of the day come in which we should be having our prayer-sessions with God, it often appears as though everything has entered into a conspiracy to prevent it." We often wrestle in prayer just to concentrate. "Your thoughts flit back and forth between God and the many pressing duties which await you."226 While God can and will grant times of peace and tranquility, no Christian outgrows the need to struggle and persevere in prayer. #Quote by Timothy Keller
Hours quotes by Henry Fielding
#121. Petition me no petitions, sir, to-day; Let other hours be set apart for business. To-day it is our pleasure to be drunk; And this our queen shall be as drunk as we. #Quote by Henry Fielding
Hours quotes by Daniel H. Pink
#122. The billable hours is a classic case of restricted autonomy. I mean, you're working on - I mean, sometimes on these six-minute increments. So you're not focused on doing a good job. You're focused on hitting your numbers. It's one reason why lawyers typically are so unhappy. And I want a world of happy lawyers. #Quote by Daniel H. Pink
Hours quotes by Johann Martin Boltzius
#123. During the conversation she [7th-GGM, Anna Maria Hoepflinger Floerl] also talked about the guidance with which God had provided her when they started to expel the Salzburgers. She was born in the state of Bavaria and brought up in ignorance by her seriously erring mother and some relatives. However, when God recognized that He could save her soul, He saw to it that among the twelve journeyman of a papal masterbuilder from Salzburg who worked on a church in Bavaria, there was a Lutheran journeyman, called "the Lutheran," about whose religion strange things were said. Because he got room and board at the house of her cousin, for whom she worked, she was very much aware of his Christian behavior. And, since she noticed great peace, nonconformance to the world, and diligent prayer and intercession as well as sympathy and tears when he saw the bound Evangelical Salzburgers being led past him, she had the deep desire to talk to this man secretly about his and her religious faith.

One evening God arranged for her cousin to be busy with the soldiers who were accompanying the Salzburgers on their way across Bavaria, while the servants were in the tavern. She grasped this opportunity to make this knowledgeable man, who was experienced in Christianity, teach her the Evangelical truth for three hours; upon her request, he also sent her a good book, namely the Schaitberger, in a small well-secured barrel. In it, they eagerly read for three consecutive weeks at night about the E #Quote by Johann Martin Boltzius

Hours quotes by Kristen Ashley
#125. But that light that shone in Mitch's eyes told me he loved it more. Not because he liked roller coasters and crappy food.

No, because he liked to see us happy, he liked to make us that way and he didn't mind us knowing it.

From the beginning, he'd demonstrated generosity, selflessness and protectiveness, but there was something beautiful about sensing his contentment grow as the hours passed and he got more out of giving something to us than we got out of having it.

I knew before that Mitch would make a great dad.

But I knew right then that he'd build a beautiful family. #Quote by Kristen Ashley
Hours quotes by Jarod Kintz
#126. You're disoriented. You just woke up. You're in the future. You've been asleep for eight hours. #Quote by Jarod Kintz
Hours quotes by Alison Goodman
#127. There was a saying that the strength of a man's steel was only known under the hammer of circumstance. If anyone had asked me a few hours ago, I would have said that nearly five years of boyhood had hammered me into constant fear and excessive caution. But now I realised it had done the opposite. It had shaped me into someone who stepped forwards and reached for what she wanted. It was too late for me to tuck my hands behind my back and wait like a good woman. #Quote by Alison Goodman
Hours quotes by Wilkie Collins
#128. One after another those words travelled over my memory, repeating themselves again and again with a wearisome, mechanical reiteration. I was roused from what felt like a trance of many hours--from what was really, no doubt, the pause of a few moments only--by a voice calling to me. #Quote by Wilkie Collins
Hours quotes by Mary Blakely
#129. Mothers are likely to have more bad days on the job than most other professionals, considering the hours: round-the-clock, seven days a week, fifty-two weeks a year ... You go to work when you're sick, maybe even clinically depressed, because motherhood is perhaps the only unpaid position where failure to show up can result in arrest. #Quote by Mary Blakely
Hours quotes by Lukas Haas
#130. I like both music and acting, and they both have a lot in common - timing, immediacy, stuff like that. But acting is more regimented. You wait around for hours, you don't get to write the script, you get hired. Music represents me better. I'm not acting; I'm just expressing myself. #Quote by Lukas Haas

Hours quotes by Amy Lane
#132. Besides that, Sebastian liked books - all kinds. He loved fiction, non-fiction, big picture art books, the smell, the feel, and the potential to sit down with a book, become lost within it and only surface hours later when you needed to pee. Books were the bestest of best friends - and they never bitched if you forgot their birthdays or decided not to call them for a month. #Quote by Amy Lane
Hours quotes by Eileen Cook
#133. I made it until the threes before a new problem, in addition to my possible haunting, came up. I had to pee. Three hours fifty-two minutes. I tried crossing my legs and thinking dry desert thoughts. I wasn't going to make it until six a.m. No way. That left me two choices:

1. Stay here and pee the bed. This option was fraught with a whole load of downsides, not the least being forced to sit in a puddle of my own urine for hours (three hours forty-seven minutes to be exact). Then there would be the morning humiliation to consider. Dick's great-grandmother probably made this bed by collecting feathers off her pet goose. He would shit if I peed in it. He would make me sleep on rubber sheets as long as I lived here. Plus Nathaniel would know. I would be his spastic stepsister with an incontinence problem.
2. Leave the bed and make a run for the bathroom. This had the upside of not getting me a year's subscription to Bedwetters Anonymous. The downside was obvious. I had to leave the safety of the covers and risk the dead girl grabbing ahold of me. #Quote by Eileen Cook
Hours quotes by Sarah K.L. Wilson
#134. No, I wasn't going to think about that. I didn't think about it through the long hours of flight. I didn't think about it as the sun came up – finally – on the horizon, bathing me in gold and hope. I didn't think of it when Hubric signaled a weary stop and we landed exhaustedly next to a pond in a rolling field of grass.

Stop thinking about it. Seriously. You're driving me crazy.

But honestly, how did you stop thinking about something like that? I'd been so close to having something I'd wanted all my life. I'd been so close to getting what I didn't even believe was possible. #Quote by Sarah K.L. Wilson
Hours quotes by Mark Strand

Hours quotes by Gavin Maxwell
#137. I had been working hard at my book; it was one of those rare days of authorship when everything seemed to go right; the words flowed unbidden from my pen, and the time had passed unheeded, so that it was a shock to realise that I had been writing for some six hours. #Quote by Gavin Maxwell
Hours quotes by Bear Grylls
#138. Over the next few days we spent every waking moment together. We made up silly dances, did puzzles in the evening, and she stood smiling on the beach waiting for me as I took my customary New Year's dip in the freezing cold North Atlantic.
I just had a sense that we were meant to be.
I even found out she lived in the next-door road along from where I was renting a room from a friend in London. What were the chances of that?
As the week drew to a close we both got ready to head back south to London. She was flying. I was driving.
"I'll beat you to London," I challenged her.
She smiled knowingly. "No, you won't." (But I love your spirit.)
She, of course, won. It took me ten hours to drive. But at 10:00 P.M. that same night I turned up at her door and knocked.
She answered in her pajamas.
"Damn, you were right," I said, laughing. "Shall we go for some supper together?"
"I'm in my pajamas, Bear."
"I know, and you look amazing. Put a coat on. Come on."
And so she did.
Our first date, and Shara in her pajamas. Now here was a cool girl.
From then on we were rarely apart. I delivered love letters to her office by day and persuaded her to take endless afternoons off.
We roller-skated in the parks, and I took her down to the Isle of Wight for the weekends.
Mum and Dad had since moved to my grandfather's old house in Dorset, and had rented out our cottage on the island. But we still had an old caravan parked down #Quote by Bear Grylls
Hours quotes by Michael Jackson
#139. Well, especially now I come to realize - and then - I would do my schooling which was three hours with a tutor and right after that I would go to the recording studio and record, and I'd record for hours and hours until it's time to go to sleep. #Quote by Michael Jackson

#143. Is there anything more useless than a crouton? I sometimes wake up in the small hours with a start and realise that what's roused me is an overpowering urge to visit violence on its originator. #Quote by Will Self
Hours quotes by Christine Stovell
#144. I believe in making my potential models comfortable,' he explained when she shot a surprised look at him. 'I'm considerate, unlike some artists who bend their sitters into difficult positions and expect them to stay there for hours. My demands are entirely reasonable.'
For a moment, her libido got interested in his demands. What would it be like to listen to the soft caress of his voice as he told her how he wanted her? To have those midnight-blue eyes roam over every inch of her body? To be passive, helpless, whilst he did whatever he pleased? #Quote by Christine Stovell
Hours quotes by William James
#145. Let no youth have any anxiety about the upshot of his education, whatever the line of it may be. If he keep faithfully busy each hour of the working-day, he may safely leave the result to itself. He can with perfect certainty count on waking up some fine morning to find himself one of the competent ones of his generation. #Quote by William James
Hours quotes by The Nines
#146. And then I met the most wonderful boy in the world. We would take long walks by the river. We spent hours gazing into each others eyes. We were so very much in love. And then one day, he went away. And I thought I'd die, but I didn't. And when I didn't, I said to myself ... is that all there is to love? #Quote by The Nines

Hours quotes by James Patterson
#153. I made a pleasant discovery. You work hard at something eight hours a day, you get better. Not a lot better necessarily, but a little better, and that's just fine, because improving at golf, or anything else probably, is just a matter of making an endless series of tiny improvements. #Quote by James Patterson

#155. I used to think that if you cared for other people, you need to study sociology or something like it. But ... .I [have] concluded, if you want to help other people, be a manager. If done well, management is among the most noble of professions. You are in a position where you have eight or ten hours every day from every person who works for you. You have the opportunity to frame each person's work so that, at the end of every day, your employees will go home feeling like Diana felt on her good day: living a life filled with motivators. #Quote by Clayton M Christensen
Hours quotes by Katie Kacvinsky
#156. It was a little awkward walking behind his mom when, about eight hours ago, I had been rolling around on the floor with her son with my shirt pulled halfway up my back. #Quote by Katie Kacvinsky
Hours quotes by Annie Dillard
#157. Father had stretched out his long legs and was tilting back in his chair. Mother sat with her knees crossed, in blue slacks, smoking a Chesterfield. The dessert dishes were still on the table. My sisters were nowhere in evidence. It was a warm evening; the big dining-room windows gave onto blooming rhododendrons.

Mother regarded me warmly. She gave me to understand that she was glad I had found what I had been looking for, but that she and father were happy to sit with their coffee, and would not be coming down.

She did not say, but I understood at once, that they had their pursuits (coffee?) and I had mine. She did not say, but I began to understand then, that you do what you do out of your private passion for the thing itself.

I had essentially been handed my own life. In subsequent years my parents would praise my drawings and poems, and supply me with books, art supplies, and sports equipment, and listen to my troubles and enthusiasms, and supervise my hours, and discuss and inform, but they would not get involved with my detective work, nor hear about my reading, nor inquire about my homework or term papers or exams, nor visit the salamanders I caught, nor listen to me play the piano, nor attend my field hockey games, nor fuss over my insect collection with me, or my poetry collection or stamp collection or rock collection. My days and nights were my own to plan and fill. #Quote by Annie Dillard
Hours quotes by Jase Robertson
#158. One night, Kevin and I were at a pool hall where we saw a guy playing pool by himself; this guy looked like a hustler. He asked me if I wanted to play for twenty dollars.
"I'll tell you what," I told him. "You can play my buddy Kevin. If you win two out of three games, I'll give you twenty dollars. If he wins, you have to leave with us and go to a Bible study."
The guy looked at me like I was nuts. He walked around the pool table a few times, pondering my offer. I took a twenty-dollar bill out and placed it on the table.
"Okay," he said. "Let's do it."
What he didn't know was that Kevin is quite the player and that I don't make bets with eternal consequences on the line unless I know we're going to win! Of course, my buddy Kevin beat him. In fact, Kevin broke and ran the table in two straight games. The other guy never even took a shot! To my surprise, the guy followed through on his bet, although he didn't seem too happy about it. As we walked to my truck to leave, he threw a full can of beer across the road and declared he was ready for a change in his life anyway. I thought that was a powerful statement since he didn't even know what we were going to share with him. He knew how we rolled, despite our presence in such a rugged place. We studied the Bible with him for several hours and baptized him the same night. What I didn't know was that the guy was sentenced to prison for an earlier crime the very next day! I wouldn't see him again until he showed up #Quote by Jase Robertson
Hours quotes by Peter Beardsley
#159. I tell my kids in the Academy at Newcastle to watch Henry. He plays with such a swagger, not an arrogance, and that is a great quality. He always looks so comfortable. You talk about cars going from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds, and he is like that. He just explodes. I could sit there for hours and watch him. #Quote by Peter Beardsley
Hours quotes by Misty Copeland
#160. I have the opportunity, which most people don't experience nearly as much, of being in front of a mirror up to 10 hours a day. Staring at your body, you really get to know every little detail of how to make yourself look your best. #Quote by Misty Copeland
Hours quotes by Mardi Oakley Medawar
#161. The workroom radio, tuned to FM 88.9, emitted Muddy Waters's throaty warbling. A rez station, WOJB did its best to hit every level of musical taste. Absolute bite-ya-in-the-ass blues was aired only during the wee hours.

Tracker's favorite time and music. #Quote by Mardi Oakley Medawar

Hours quotes by Daniel Clowes
#163. I try to only work on the screenplays for a few hours a day when I'm in my most voluble mood, just sort of writing whatever comes into my head. It's a very freeing thing. #Quote by Daniel Clowes
Hours quotes by Josh Waitzkin
#164. This might sound like a dream for a seventeen-year-old boy, and I won't deny enjoying the attention, but professionally it was a nightmare. My game began to unravel. I caught myself thinking about how I looked thinking instead of losing myself in thought. The Grandmasters, my elders, were ignored and scowled at me. Some of them treated me like a pariah. I had won eight national championships and had more fans, public support and recognition than I could dream of, but none of this was helping my search for excellence, let alone for happiness. At a young age I came to know that there is something profoundly hollow about the nature of fame. I had spent my life devoted to artistic growth and was used to the sweaty-palmed sense of contentment one gets after many hours of intense reflection. This peaceful feeling had nothing to do with external adulation, and I yearned for a return to that innocent, fertile time. I missed just being a student of the game, #Quote by Josh Waitzkin
Hours quotes by Eve Ensler
#165. Look, you do everything in stages, right? I don't think everything happens at once. There are so many layers we are constantly chipping away at, down and down and down, closer and closer to what would be the body. I think what happened with cancer, was that I woke up out of nine hours of surgery and I was body. I was just body. #Quote by Eve Ensler
Hours quotes by Alice Jamieson
#166. One weekend it rained for 48 hours without stopping. The rain beat like bony fingers against the window panes. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Fungus was growing on the walls. I polished off a bottle of gin sitting huddled over the two-bar electric fire and wrote a poem, one of the few that has lasted through the moves and the years. It is called 'Where Can I Go?'
If this is not the place where tears are understood where do I go to cry?
If this is not the place where my spirits can take wing where do I go to fly?
If this is not the place where my feelings can be heard where do I go to speak?
If this is not the place where you'll accept me as I am where can I go to be me?
If this is not the place where I can try and learn and grow where can I go to laugh and cry? #Quote by Alice Jamieson
Hours quotes by Michelle Rowen
#167. Well ... unfortunately there's a little problem," he said.
"What?"
He pointed up. "That."
I looked up to see the mistletoe dangling from the ceiling where I'd hung it three hours before.
"Okay, but what does that-?"
Rhys kissed me.
"I really, really, didn't want to like that," he said.
"Rhys-" But before I could say anything else, he kissed me again and pulled me closer. #Quote by Michelle Rowen
Hours quotes by Jennifer Silverwood
#168. I couldn't help smiling as he grasped my arms and held me in place because his warmth infected me. I hadn't known I was freezing until he held me. I hadn't known until then, after the long hours of separation, that with Cain I could pretend to be human. #Quote by Jennifer Silverwood
Hours quotes by Linus Torvalds
#169. I'm a bastard. I have absolutely no clue why people can ever think otherwise. Yet they do. People think I'm a nice guy, and the fact is that I'm a scheming, conniving bastard who doesn't care for any hurt feelings or lost hours of work if it just results in what I consider to be a better system.

And I'm not just saying that. I'm really not a very nice person. I can say 'I don't care' with a straight face, and really mean it. #Quote by Linus Torvalds
Hours quotes by Pico Iyer
#170. Wherever we are, any time of night or day, our bosses, junk-mailers, our parents can get to us. Sociologists have actually found that in recent years Americans are working fewer hours than 50 years ago, but we feel as if we're working more. We have more and more time-saving devices, but sometimes, it seems, less and less time. #Quote by Pico Iyer

#175. Sleeping only six hours a night for a week in a row will make you feel on that eighth day as if you'd gotten no sleep at all. Seven and a half to eight hours remains the sweet spot. #Quote by Sanjay Gupta
Hours quotes by Sarah J. Maas
#176. Well, I care what you think of me. I care enough that I stayed at this disgusting party for you. And I care enough that I'd attend a thousand more like it so I can spend a few hours with you when you aren't looking at me like I'm not worth the dirt beneath your shoes. #Quote by Sarah J. Maas
Hours quotes by Sandra Cisneros
#177. It's so good for your health to take those naps. I don't know why people brag that they sleep five hours. I'd be ashamed. I'm proud that I sleep nine hours. #Quote by Sandra Cisneros
Hours quotes by Robert Pinsky
#178. A reflection on Robert Lowell

Robert Lowell knew I was not one of his devotees. I attended his famous "office hours" salon only a few times. Life Studies was not a book of central importance for me, though I respected it. I admired his writing, but not the way many of my Boston friends did. Among poets in his generation, poems by Elizabeth Bishop, Alan Dugan, and Allen Ginsberg meant more to me than Lowell's. I think he probably sensed some of that.

To his credit, Lowell nevertheless was generous to me (as he was to many other young poets) just the same. In that generosity, and a kind of open, omnivorous curiosity, he was different from my dear teacher at Stanford, Yvor Winters. Like Lowell, Winters attracted followers - but Lowell seemed almost dismayed or a little bewildered by imitators; Winters seemed to want disciples: "Wintersians," they were called.

A few years before I met Lowell, when I was still in California, I read his review of Winters's Selected Poems. Lowell wrote that, for him, Winters's poetry passed A. E. Housman's test: he felt that if he recited it while he was shaving, he would cut himself. One thing Lowell and Winters shared, that I still revere in both of them, was a fiery devotion to the vocal essence of poetry: the work and interplay of sentences and lines, rhythm and pitch. The poetry in the sounds of the poetry, in a reader's voice: neither page nor stage.

Hours quotes by Madeleine L'Engle
#179. How do I make more than a fumbling attempt to explain that faith is not legislated, that it is not a small box which works twenty-four hours a day? If I 'believe' for two minutes once every month or so, I'm doing well. #Quote by Madeleine L'Engle
Hours quotes by Guy Kawasaki
#180. My theory is that when you're young, you should work eighty hours a week to create a product or service that changes the world. #Quote by Guy Kawasaki
Hours quotes by John Greenleaf Whittier
#181. God's ways seem dark, but, soon or late, They touch the shining hills of day; The evil cannot brook delay, The good can well afford to wait, Give ermined knaves their hour of crime; Yet have the future grand and great, The safe appeal of Truth to Time! #Quote by John Greenleaf Whittier
Hours quotes by Aldous Huxley
#182. Our civilisation being what it is, you've got to spent eight hours out of every twenty-four as a mixture between an imbecile and a sewing machine. It's very disagreeable, I know. It's humiliating and disgusting. But there you are. You've got to do it, otherwise the whole fabric of our world will fall to bits and we'll starve. Do the job then, idiotically and mechanically; and spend your leisure hours in being a real complete man or woman. #Quote by Aldous Huxley
Hours quotes by Victoria Beckham
#183. I don't have a nanny or a housekeeper, and I only have a cleaner for one hour each week. I finish work and go home. I cook the dinner. I run into Tesco and do the housework in the evening. #Quote by Victoria Beckham
Hours quotes by John Mulaney
#184. I like to turn on the TV and watch whatever's on. Nick Kroll does that a lot. He doesn't watch important shows. He'll just turn on a documentary on Mia Hamm and watch it for an hour. Whatever's on, we watch. #Quote by John Mulaney
Hours quotes by Thomas Pynchon
#185. It had been dark at the beach for hours, he hadn't been smoking much and it wasn't headlights – but before she turned away, he could swear he saw light falling on her face, the orange light just after sunset that catches a face turned to the west, watching the ocean for someone to come in on the last wave of the day, in to shore and safety. #Quote by Thomas Pynchon
Hours quotes by Kenneth Grahame
#186. When the girl returned, some hours later, she carried a tray, with a cup of fragrant tea steaming on it; and a plate piled up with very hot buttered toast, cut thick, very brown on both sides, with the butter running through the holes in great golden drops, like honey from the honeycomb. The smell of that buttered toast simply talked to Toad, and with no uncertain voice; talked of warm kitchens, of breakfasts on bright frosty mornings, of cosy parlour firesides on winter evenings, when one's ramble was over and slippered feet were propped on the fender, of the purring of contented cats, and the twitter of sleepy canaries. #Quote by Kenneth Grahame
Hours quotes by Paul Neilan
#187. And everyone drank too much coffee too, at the wrong times and for the wrong reasons. They drank it when they came in every morning to get going, and then again in the afternoon to keep going. They ran on caffeine fumes all day and never fucking got anywhere. Then they went home spent and empty and crashed in front of the TV every night and slept away the few hours they had for themselves. All these motherfuckers are always talking about the best ways to manage your time. The fact is any time spent at work not sleeping in the bathroom is wasted time, and it's hard to sleep when you're pumped full of caffeine. Everyone's awake for the wrong part of their lives. And by the weekend they're too exhausted from all the frantic, useless activity to even care, and it's only fucking two days off anyway. Nobody has the time or the energy to do what they really want, or to even figure out what that is. #Quote by Paul Neilan
Hours quotes by William Goldman
#188. I think pain is the most underrated emotion available to us," the Count said. "The Serpent, to my
interpretation, was pain. Pain has been with us always, and it always irritates me when people say 'as
important as life and death' because the proper phrase, to my mind, should be, 'as important as pain and
death.'" The Count fell silent for a time then, as he began and completed a series of complex adjustments.
"One of my theories," he said somewhat later, "is that pain involves anticipation. Nothing original, I
admit, but I'm going to demonstrate to you what I mean: I will not, underline not, use the Machine on
you this evening. I could. It's ready and tested. But instead I will simply erect it and leave it beside you,
for you to stare at the next twenty-four hours, wondering just what it is and how it works and can it really
be as dreadful as all that." He tightened some things here, loosened some more over there, tugged and
patted and shaped.
The Machine looked so silly Westley was tempted to giggle. Instead, he groaned again.
"I'll leave you to your imagination, then," the Count said, and he looked at Westley. "But I want you to
know one thing before tomorrow night happens to you, and I mean it: you are the strongest, the most
brilliant and brave, the most altogether worthy creature it has ever been my privilege to meet, and I feel
almost sad that, for the purposes of my book and future pain scholars, I m #Quote by William Goldman

Hours quotes by Pete Hamill
#190. My father had a job in the factory across the way, and because he'd lost his leg, he had a stump... and in the summer... he'd work on this assembly line 8 hours a day and he was home at night. And I heard him weeping in the dark around 1 o'clock in the morning and I knew that no matter what I ever did ... that I had to honor that pain. I think that's what the children of immigrants do, all of us. We know what they gave up. They gave up their countries. In some cases they gave up their languages. They worked at the lousiest, rottenest jobs in order to put food on our table. We have to honor that, for the rest of our lives. #Quote by Pete Hamill
Hours quotes by Meghan Trainor
#191. I wasn't strong enough to have an eating disorder. I tried to go anorexic for a good three hours. I ate ice and celery, but that's not even anorexic. And I quit. I was like, 'Ma, can you make me a sandwich? Like, immediately.' #Quote by Meghan Trainor
Hours quotes by Jarrid Wilson
#192. Habits don't just happen overnight. If a habit takes 30 days to form, then those 30 days will tell you a lot about your commitments. Are you cutting down on your Starbucks habit so that you can read Scripture in the morning before work? Or are you routinely hitting snooze and falling off your exercise program 10 days in? We all have the same 24 hours in a day, and have to make choices about we're using our time. We make trade-offs based on what we deem most important at the time - for better or for worse. #Quote by Jarrid Wilson
Hours quotes by Grimes
#193. I would never go to a studio. I need my space, you know what I mean? I need to be able to chain smoke and pace about, cry and like ... spit. Just make noise, make a huge mess. I also feel like if I was concerned for the cost of the studio - like, 'this is costing 40 dollars an hour' - I wouldn't be able to work. #Quote by Grimes
Hours quotes by Karl Lagerfeld
#194. I sleep seven hours. If I go to bed at two, I wake up at nine. If I go to bed at midnight, I wake up at seven. I don't wake up before - the house can fall apart, but I sleep for seven hours. #Quote by Karl Lagerfeld
Hours quotes by Kahlil Gibran
#195. You have the great gift of understanding, beloved Mary. You are a life-giver, Mary. You are like the Great Spirit, who befriends man not only to share his life, but to add to it. My knowing you is the greatest thing in my days and nights a miracle quite outside the natural order of things.
I have always held, with my Madman, that those who understand us enslave something in us. It is not so with you. Your understanding of me is the most peaceful freedom I have known. And in the last two hours of your last visit you took y heart in your hand and found a black spot in it. But just as soon as you found the spot it was erased forever, and I became absolutely chainless. #Quote by Kahlil Gibran
Hours quotes by Lalit Sharma
#196. Everyone can be in a relationship. And being in a relationship doesn't means that you have to catch each other hands and walk in-front of everyone without caring anyone. Make conversations short and sweet..and to the point. Don't keep talking over the phones for hours with the things that doesn't makes sense. First priority should be parents. If wanna be in a relationship do it in a standard way. And first focus on what you should do. Do not prioritize your ambition on some one just without caring your parents.First focus on making life so that you can keep your parents and relationship happy. That when you are successful only then take a big step. #Quote by Lalit Sharma
Hours quotes by Makoto Shinkai
#197. In the end the train stood 2 hours motionless in the middle of nowhere.
Every minute seemed like an eternity.
Time felt crept by slowly, with clear malice towards me. All i could do was grip my teeth and try to hold back my tears ...
Akari ... Please, don't wait for me ...
If you'd just go home. #Quote by Makoto Shinkai

Hours quotes by Judith McNaught
#200. I ought to break your neck!" Clayton interrupted.
Too late, Whitney realized that she shouldn't have been standing all this time on her "injured" knee.
"Allow me to congratulate you on a fine day's work, Madam," he said sternly. "In less than twelve hours, you've brought Whitticomb to your side and Cuthbert to your feet. #Quote by Judith McNaught
