Happy Were Over quotes by Kristen Ashley
#1. My heart went into my throat. I leaned back against Luke, his arm moved to wrap around my chest and we watched two people we both cared a lot about. They were in love, they were healed and most of all, they were outrageously happy. #Quote by Kristen Ashley
Happy Were Over quotes by Aldous Huxley
#2. But, Bernard, you're saying the most awful things.'
'Don't you wish you were free, Lenina?'
'I don't know what you mean. I am free. Free to have the most wonderful time. Everybody's happy nowadays.'
He laughed, 'Yes, "Everybody's happy nowadays." We begin giving children that at five. But wouldn't you like to be free to e happy in some other way, Lenina? In your own way, for example; not in everybody else's way. #Quote by Aldous Huxley
Happy Were Over quotes by Jay~
#3. Pause for a moment and think , when was the last time when you were happy? When you were content? When everything you had was enough? As humans we thrive in community, so therefore; defeat being shunned. So we scramble about, searching for the next big thing to impress people with, searching for some way to stay on top. So we create these 'standards' that we have to meet, something that allows us to say that we're good enough. And that's why Christ is such a good father, he doesn't set standards that we have to meet, he doesn't say 'I only love you, if you followed my commandments this week.' Or 'I only accept you, if you haven't sinned in a while' he says 'I don't care, how bad you messed up, I don't care how unclean or unworthy you are. I love you and therefore you are worthy and of more value to me than the whole earth and all it's riches. You can try but you can never meet my standards, because they are none. #Quote by Jay~
Happy Were Over quotes by Orhan Pamuk
#4. Human beings were made to be happy, honest and open. #Quote by Orhan Pamuk
Happy Were Over quotes by Leslie Mann
#5. I have lunches with my girlfriends, who just turned 40, and some of those lunches, we're crying and screaming about our husbands, saying we want to leave them and run away. And then, other lunches, we're fine and love our husbands and are happy with our lives. #Quote by Leslie Mann
Happy Were Over quotes by Barbara Browning
#6. I noticed that a woman on Goodreads said something like, "I was reading along in the beginning thinking, okay, a woman wrote this, there's her picture, she's a white lady, the narrator's a white lady. And then suddenly she says something and you realize she's a he. And then a few pages later you realize he's 'brown.' I think the author could have been a little more up front about this." :) It made me happy because in fact I thought everybody would pick the book up, read the back cover, and know they were dealing with a woman writer speaking through a male narrator. Which is a drag, actually, because if you didn't know the author was a woman, you'd probably assume that an unmarked first-person narrator was a man, but if you knew she was a woman you'd assume her narrator was too. And if you didn't know the race of the author, you'd probably assume the narrator was white. That's pretty insidious, of course - it's the way sexism and racism work. I'm not saying this woman on Goodreads was racist or sexist, I'm saying the fact that we make these assumptions signals that we live in a world that presumes that an unmarked voice is white and male, and that women and people of color will generally be writing from a limited perspective. I guess that's obvious. But what I was saying about this comment was that it made me realize something else about ebooks - because I can only assume she read it as an ebook if she didn't get the back jacket copy that explains who's narrating. I love books #Quote by Barbara Browning
Happy Were Over quotes by Juliette Lewis
#7. The old footage of my dad, I always knew we were cut from the same cloth, because my dad was such a renegade and always marched to the beat of his own drum. To see where we were both dancing and being silly together, it's too beautiful for words. I was really happy to have that. #Quote by Juliette Lewis
Happy Were Over quotes by Kristen Stewart
#8. One of the greatest struggles of becoming an adult is figuring out what you want to do and what makes you happy. The courageous thing is to stick with it and see it through and see if you were correct. #Quote by Kristen Stewart
Happy Were Over quotes by Cecelia Ahern
#9. This wash't how people spoke to each other. Where was the pretense that we liked each other, that we were both happy to be there, and we'd meet again? #Quote by Cecelia Ahern
Happy Were Over quotes by Marc Maron
#10. I'm happy, certainly, given the times we're living in, to be doing OK, and to not be worrying about money, and to be producing something I enjoy. #Quote by Marc Maron
Happy Were Over quotes by Laurie Lee
#11. Eight to ten loaves came to the house every day, and they never grew dry. We tore them to pieces with their crusts still warm, and their monotony was brightened by the objects we found in them – string, nails, paper, and once a mouse; for those were days of happy-go-lucky baking. #Quote by Laurie Lee
Happy Were Over quotes by Kresley Cole
#12. I stepped out into the biting air and drizzle. Cyclops loped beside me, barking a couple of times, as if to tell me something. Slaver's got Timmy!

"Empress." Matthew looked as bad as I felt - his face wan, his shoulders slumped with fatigue.

He gazed at me with those woebegone brown eyes. "Tredici nears."

"Hey, aren't you happy that we rescued Jack?"

"I couldn't see." He hugged his arms around his torso, batting his fists against his parka. "The Lovers!" The lowest hum came from him. He stared down at me. "The twins - inseparable. Never parted."

"A path. You won't like where it leads."

"I can't steer, can't change. Before there were waves or eddies; now stone. Our enemies laugh."

He raised his palm. "Hold, please."

"Are you talking to someone else?" Matthew was the Arcana switchboard, a medium. "To . . . Aric? Is he in your eyes?" Watching me through Matthew? #Quote by Kresley Cole
Happy Were Over quotes by Bernhard Schlink
#13. When he answered, he went all the way back to beginnings. He instructed me about the individual, about freedom and dignity, about the human being as subject and the fact that one may not turn him into an object. "Don't you remember how furious you would get as a little boy when Mama knew better what was good for you? Even how far one can act like this with children is a real problem. It is a philosophical problem, but philosophy does not concern itself with children. It leaves them to pedagogy, where they're not in very good hands. Philosophy has forgotten about children." He smiled at me. "Forgotten them forever, not just sometimes, the way I forget about you."
"But . . ."
"But with adults I see absolutely no justification for setting other people's views of what is good for them above their own ideas of what is good for themselves."
"Not even if they themselves are happy about it later?"
He shook his head. "We're not talking about happiness, we're talking about dignity and freedom. Even as a little boy, you knew the difference. It was no comfort to you that your mother was always right. #Quote by Bernhard Schlink
Happy Were Over quotes by Søren Kierkegaard
#14. I have never been joyful, and yet it has always seemed as if joy were my constant companion, as if the buoyant jinn of joy danced around me, invisible to others but not to me, whose eyes shone with delight. Then when I walk past people, happy-go-lucky as a god, and they envy me because of my good fortune, I laugh, for I despise people, and I take my revenge. I have never wished to do anyone an injustice, but I have always made it appear as if anyone who came close to me would be wronged and injured. Then when I hear others praised for their faithfulness, their integrity, I laugh, for I despise people, and I take my revenge. My heart has never been hardened toward anyone, but I have always made it appear, especially when I was touched most deeply, as if my heart were closed and alien to every feeling. Then when I hear others lauded for their good hearts, see them loved for their deep, rich feelings, then I laugh, for I despise people and take my revenge. When I see myself cursed, abhorred, hated for my coldness and heartlessness, then I laugh, then my rage is satisfied. The point is that if the good people could make me be actually in the wrong, make me actually do an injustice-well, then I would have lost. #Quote by Søren Kierkegaard
Happy Were Over quotes by Stephen Taylor
#15. The wife of a junior officer cooped up in a horrible canvas partition in steerage for five months wrote:
"I had enjoyed much peace there in the absence of every comfort, even of such as are now enjoyed in jail. I used to say that there were four privations in my situation - fire, water, earth and air. No fire to warm oneself on the coldest day, no water to drink but what was tainted, no earth to set the foot on, and scarcely any air to breathe. Yet, with all these miserable circumstances, we spent many a happy hour by candlelight in that wretched cabin whilst I sewed and he read the Bible to me. #Quote by Stephen Taylor
Happy Were Over quotes by Tony MacAlpine
#16. Well sometimes I do not listen to music. But when I do it could range from Frank Sinatra to Copeland. I spend a great deal of time playing the piano because it really is my salvation at times. But I am perfectly happy just going on a long bike ride that takes many days to complete and staying away from music for a bit. It always feels so fresh when you return to the instrument with a different observation of things than when you were last there. #Quote by Tony MacAlpine
Happy Were Over quotes by Anna Banks
#17. Your mom probably wouldn't be too happy if you're dating someone who quit school."
I laugh. "Nope, don't think so. But I do think she likes you."
"Why do you say that?" he says, cocking his head at me.
"When I called her, she told me to tell you good morning. And then she told me you were 'a keeper.'" She also said he was hot, which is a ten and a half on the creep-o-meter.
"She won't think that when I start failing out of all my classes. I've missed too much school to give a convincing performance in that aspect."
"Maybe you and I could do an exchange," I say, cringing at how many different ways that could sound.
"You mean besides swapping spit?"
I'm hyperaware of the tickle in my stomach, but I say, "Gross! Did Rachel teach you that?"
He nods, still grinning. "I laughed for days."
"Anyway, since you're helping me try to change, I could help you with your schoolwork. You know, tutor you. We're in all the same classes together, and I could really use the volunteer hours for my college application."
His smile disappears as if I had slapped him. "Galen, is something wrong?"
He unclenches his jaw. "No."
"It was just a suggestion. I don't have to tutor you. I mean, we'll already be spending all day together in school and then practicing at night. You'll probably get sick of me." I toss in a soft laugh to keep it chit-chatty, but my innards feel as though they're cartwheeling.
"Not likely."

Happy Were Over quotes by James Gandolfini
#18. I dabbled a little bit in acting in high school, and then I forgot about it completely. And then at about 25 I went to a class. I don't think anybody in my family thought it was an intelligent choice. I don't think anybody thought I'd succeed, which is understandable. I think they were just happy that I was doing something. #Quote by James Gandolfini
Happy Were Over quotes by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
#19. He found, moreover, that he still knew how to take the weapon apart. That much of his memory, at any rate, had not been wiped out at the hospital. It made him furtively happy to suspect that there were probably other parts of his memory that had been missed as well. #Quote by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
Happy Were Over quotes by Neil Gaiman
#20. I said, "Who are you really? Why are you giving people money?"
"Everybody wants money," she said, as if it were self-evident. "It makes them happy. It will make you happy, if you let it." We had come out by the heap of grass clippings, behind the circle of green grass that we called the fairy ring: sometimes, when the weather was wet, it filled with vivid yellow toadstools. #Quote by Neil Gaiman
Happy Were Over quotes by Sharon Salzberg
#21. If we harm someone else, we're inevitably also hurting ourselves. Some quality of sensitivity and awareness has to shut down for us to be able to objectify someone else, to deny them as a living, feeling being - someone who wants to be happy, just as we do. #Quote by Sharon Salzberg
Happy Were Over quotes by Elliott James
#22. I reached my hand out and held it palm open next to hers, and after a moments hesitation she took my hand and squeezed it. I felt absurdly happy.
We were a couple of badass monster killers all right. Maybe on the way back to Choo's she'd let me buy her an ice cream cone. #Quote by Elliott James
Happy Were Over quotes by David H. Finnie
#23. The Middle East was not a wilderness, and the people there were not savages: if anything they were over civilized. Too many American newcomers to the East saw it in frontier terms. #Quote by David H. Finnie
Happy Were Over quotes by George I. Cannon
#24. Each day can be richer and more meaningful if we can be happy with ourselves. Some of the most undesirable feelings are those of envying, coveting, and wishing that we were someone else. We should be grateful for who we are and what we are, and for the talents we have been given…. It is important that we be ourselves and like ourselves. #Quote by George I. Cannon
Happy Were Over quotes by Takashi Miike
#25. I'm happy that my films were discovered by chance by foreign film festivals. That makes me realise more that there is a world outside Japan too. For me, it's an occasion to meet many people and to experience directly the response of international audiences to my films. But for me as a director, my attitude towards making films hasn't changed with the fame. I feel it's not good to change as a person anyway #Quote by Takashi Miike
Happy Were Over quotes by Arundhati Roy
#26. Not everyone in the village was happy with the idea of having an Untouchable man's statue put up at the entrance. Particularly not an Untouchable who carried a weapon. They felt it would give out the wrong message, give people ideas. Three weeks after the statue went up, the rifle on its soldier went missing. Sepoy S. Murugesan's family tried to file a complaint, but the police refused to register a case, saying that the rifle must have fallen off or simply disintegrated due to the use of substandard cement- a fairly common malpractice- and that nobody could be blamed. A month later the statue's hands were cut off. Once again the police refused to register a case, although this time they sniggered knowingly and did not even bother to offer a reason. Two weeks after the amputation of its hands, the statue of Sepoy S. Murugesan was beheaded. There were a few days of tension. People from nearby villages who belonged to the same caste as S. Murugesan organized a protest. They began a relay hunger strike at the base of the statue. A local court said it would constitute a magisterial committee to look into the matter. In the meanwhile it ordered a status quo. The hunger strike was discontinued. The magisterial committee was never constituted.

In some countries, some soldiers die twice. #Quote by Arundhati Roy
Happy Were Over quotes by Elizabeth Gaskell
#27. Pooh! away with love! Nay, my dear, we loved each other so dearly we should never have been happy with any one else; but that's a different thing. People aren't like what they were when we were young. All the love nowadays is just silly fancy, and sentimental romance, as far as I can see. #Quote by Elizabeth Gaskell
Happy Were Over quotes by M.S. Force
#28. We're going to figure this out together. One day at a time, one step at a time. Whatever you need, whenever you need it. I'm in this so deep, Nat… Please don't leave me. Don't walk away. Give me a chance. Give yourself a chance. If anyone deserves to be happy and loved, it's you. #Quote by M.S. Force
Happy Were Over quotes by Adolf Hitler
#29. They refused to sing non-German songs. The greater the efforts made to win them away from their German allegiance, the more they exalted the glory of their German heroes. They stinted themselves in buying things to eat, so that they might spare their pennies to help the war chest of their elders. They were incredibly alert in the significance of what the non-German teachers said and they contradicted in unison. They wore the forbidden emblems of their own kinsfolk and were happy when penalized for doing so, or even physically punished. In miniature they were mirrors of loyalty from which the older people might learn a lesson. #Quote by Adolf Hitler
Happy Were Over quotes by Kody Keplinger
#30. Even though this story could end a thousand different ways, and even though chances were, it might not have a happy ending, it didn't matter. Because I already knew how I was gonna tell this story. #Quote by Kody Keplinger
Happy Were Over quotes by Melissa Jensen
#31. He's right, you know," Edward was saying almost before I'd made it into my room. I had crept through the house unnecessarily. No one was home.
"Your assertions have lost a bit of their value these days, Mr. Willing."
"You know," he repeated.
I tossed my coat onto the bed. The stark black and white of my quilt was broken by a purple stain now, the result of a peaceful interlude with grape juice turning into a gentle wrestling match. The stain was the size of my palm and shaked like, I thought, an alligator. Alex insisted it was a map of Italy. Later, we'd dripped the rest of the juice onto the thick pages of my drawing pad, finding pictures in the splotches like the Rorschach inkblots used in psychology.
"Well," he'd said in response to my pagoda, antheater, and Viking, "verdict's in.You're nuts."
The pictures were tacked to my wall, unaccustomed spots of color. I'd penciled in our choices. Viking (E), pineapple (A). Lantern (E), cheese (A). Crown (E), birthday cake (A) were over my desk, over Edward.
I turned on my computer. It binged cheerfully at me. I had mail.

"Ah, subterfuge" came from over the desk.
"Shut up, Edward," I said. #Quote by Melissa Jensen
Happy Were Over quotes by Faith Sullivan
#32. It's a good and rare thing to realize when we're happy. #Quote by Faith Sullivan
Happy Were Over quotes by Fatema Mernissi
#33. Happiness, she would explain, was when a person felt good, light, creative, content, loving and loved, and free. An unhappy person felt as if there were barriers crushing her desires and the talents she had inside. A happy woman was one who could exercise all kinds of rights, from the right to move to the right to create, compete, and challenge, and at the same time could be loved for doing so. Part of happiness was to be loved by a man who enjoyed your strength and was proud of your talents. Happiness was also about the right to privacy, the right to retreat from the company of others and plunge into contemplative solitude. Or sit by yourself doing nothing for a whole day, and not give excuses or feel guilty about it either. Happiness was to be with loved ones, and yet still feel that you existed as a separate being, that ou were not just there to make them happy. Happiness was when there was a balance between what you gave and what you took. #Quote by Fatema Mernissi
Happy Were Over quotes by Charlie Munger
#34. Every business tries to turn this year's success into next year's greater success. It's hard for me to see why Microsoft is sinful to do this. If it's a sin, then I hope all of Berkshire Hathaway's subsidiaries are sinners. Someone whose salary is paid by U.S.taxpayers is happy to dramatically weaken the one place where we're winning big?! #Quote by Charlie Munger
Happy Were Over quotes by Cindy Anstey
#35. Well met, my boy." Uncle James's voice still boomed despite the close proximity. "Sorry we were tardy; last-minute papers to deal with, you know. But never you mind, we are here now. And what a trail of happy gossips you have left meandering through the Gardens. You were easy to find. We simply followed the blathering nonsense and listened for the indignant harrumphs #Quote by Cindy Anstey
