Expectations quotes by OMOSOHWOFA CASEY
#17. People love it when you criticise some things which they do not believe in, practices which are contrary to what they practice or contrary views. They call you objective and truthful

But immediately you start disagreeing with their views, criticising their beliefs, expressing contrary views against what they support, they call you foul names, say you are not a child of God, ask who you are to judge.

Listen and listen good, I love writing and I write based on inspiration and experience.

I don't just write, I write to capture the minds of my readers and to spark reaction. I welcome contrary views, I love you opposing my stance cos in the process I learn some things from you.

Don't get mad at me for expressing myself via writing. I love putting things down. Learn to tolerate my views and counter me when you don't agree.

Stop holding grudges and developing unnecessary hatred. Life is too short to be closed minded and inclined. Life is too short for me to idolize anybody.

I can't always be dancing to your tunes, you also have to dance to mine. #Quote by OMOSOHWOFA CASEY

You're whittling your expectations of yourself down lower and lower. #Quote by Richard O'Connor

Expectations quotes by Nathaniel Branden
#24. If we have parents who raise us with love and respect; who allow us to experience consistent and benevolent acceptance; who give us the supporting structure of reasonable rules and appropriate expectations; who do not assail us with contradictions; who do not resort to ridicule, humiliation, or physical abuse as means of controlling us; who project that they believe in our competence and goodness - we have a decent chance of internalizing their attitudes and thereby of acquiring the foundation for healthy self-esteem. #Quote by Nathaniel Branden
Expectations quotes by Lionel Shriver
#25. We have explicit expectations of ourselves in specific situations–beyond expectations; they are requirements. Some of these are small: If we are given a surprise party, we will be delighted. Others are sizable: if a parent dies, we will be grief-stricken. But perhaps in tandem with these expectations is the private fear that we will fail convention in the crunch. That we will receive the fateful phone call and our mother is dead and we feel nothing. I wonder if this quiet, unutterable little fear is even keener than the fear of the bad news itself: that we will discover ourselves to be monstrous. #Quote by Lionel Shriver
Expectations quotes by Nancy Pelosi

Expectations quotes by Amy Chua
#28. I was raised, myself, by extremely strict but also extremely loving Chinese immigrant parents. To this day, I believe that their having high expectations for me, coupled with love, was the greatest gift that anyone's ever given me. Expectations quotes by Shiv Kumar
#31. Love is selfless. It does not dictate terms. Expectations are natural but not compulsory. It doesn't say I will love you as long as you will listen to me. The minute you will disobey me I will leave you. It says I will show you the right path. If you choose a path which is wrong according to me than I will not support you but I will still love you #Quote by Shiv Kumar
Expectations quotes by Kathleen Flinn
#32. My mother always says, 'Eighty percent of what you worry about never happens anyway.'...So much of life is a farce, in both meanings of the word. Much of our life is made up of situations one might find in a traditional comedy - misunderstandings, wrong expectations, and odd situations that, in retrospect, seem quite amusing. How much of what happens is just stuff? Of course, there is always that other 20 percent. #Quote by Kathleen Flinn
Expectations quotes by Hanya Yanagihara
#33. But stranger than that was the feeling he had, that everything had been worth it, that all his miseries were going to end, that he was going to a life that would be as good as, perhaps better than, anything he had read about in books. #Quote by Hanya Yanagihara
Expectations quotes by Norman Vincent Peale
#34. We build up the feeling of insecurity or security by how we think. If in our thoughts we constantly fix attention upon sinister expectations of dire events that might happen, the result will be constantly to feel insecure. And what is even more serious is the tendency to create, by the power of thought, the very condition we fear. #Quote by Norman Vincent Peale
Expectations quotes by Italo Calvino
#35. What is more natural than that a solidity, a complicity, a bond should be established between Reader and Reader, thanks to the book?
You can leave the bookshop content, you, a man who thought that the period where you could still expect something from life had ended. You are bearing with you two different expectations, and both promise days of pleasant hopes; the expectation contained in the book - of a reading experience you are impatient to resume - and the expectation contained in that telephone number - of hearing again the vibrations, a times treble and at times smoldering, of that voice, when it will answer your first phone call in a while, in fact tomorrow, with the fragile pretext of the book, to ask her if she likes it or not, to tell her how many pages you have read or not read, to suggest to her that you meet again ... #Quote by Italo Calvino
Expectations quotes by Lyndon B. Johnson
#36. So far are we generally from thinking what we often say of the shortness of life, that at the time when it is necessarily shortest we form projects which we delay to execute, indulge such expectations as nothing but along train of events can gratify, and suffer those passions to gain upon us which are only excusable in the prime of life. #Quote by Lyndon B. Johnson
Expectations quotes by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
#37. We expect more of ourselves than we have any right to. #Quote by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
Expectations quotes by Paul Murray
#38. Life makes fools of all of us sooner or later. But keep your sense of humor and you'll at least be able to take your humiliations with some measure of grace. In the end, you know, its our own expectations that crush us. #Quote by Paul Murray
Expectations quotes by Daniel H. Wilson
#39. Luckily, unreasonable expectations go hand in hand with naive young scientists. The more naive the better - otherwise we would never have the audacity to try and build a 22,000-mile-high space elevator or some sprawling underwater hotel. #Quote by Daniel H. Wilson
Expectations quotes by Kahlil Gibran
#40. For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unclaimed. #Quote by Kahlil Gibran
Expectations quotes by Callum Roberts
#41. Early accounts of the abundance of fish and wildlife offer us a window to the past that helps reveal the magnitude of subsequent declines. They provide us with benchmarks against which we can compare the condition of today's seas. Such benchmarks are valuable in countering the phenomenon of shifting environmental baselines, whereby each generation comes to view the environment into which it was born as natural, or normal. Shifting environmental baselines cause a collective societal amnesia in which gradual deterioration of the environment and depletion of wildlife populations pass almost unnoticed. Our expectations diminish with time, and with them goes our will to do something about the losses. #Quote by Callum Roberts
Expectations quotes by William Paul Young
#42. You want to know why I live here, in this 'hovel'; I think that
is the word you used, based on your civilized and educated
perception?"
There was no use denying it. "Yes, I was wondering. So
why?"
"It was the best you could give me." She didn't turn from her
work.
"Excuse me? The best 'I' could give you? I had nothing to do
with this. I could build you something much better, but not this.
How could you think…?"
"It's all right, Anthony! I have no expectations. I am grateful to
have found even this small place in your heart. I travel light" -
she smiled as if at some secret thought - "and I make my home
inside the simplest gifts. There is nothing to feel bad or ashamed
about. I am thoroughly grateful, and being here is a joy!"
"So… because this is me, my world somehow, I have only
made this small place for you? #Quote by William Paul Young
Expectations quotes by John C. Bogle

Expectations quotes by Stephanie Laurens
#44. We invest the moment with meanings it may not necessarily have. We constrain and limit the potential outcomes by imposing external expectations, by imagining and anticipating how others will see things, what they might say...when in reality none of that might matter." ~Jeremy William Carling #Quote by Stephanie Laurens
Expectations quotes by Samuel Alexander
#45. Both expectations and memories are more than mere images founded on previous experience. #Quote by Samuel Alexander
Expectations quotes by Al Franken
#46. Our laws need to reflect the evolution of technology and the changing expectations of American society. This is why the Constitution is often called a 'living' document. #Quote by Al Franken
Expectations quotes by John Maynard Keynes
#47. The considerations upon which expectations of prospective yields are based are partly existing facts which we can assume to be known more or less for certain, and partly future events which can only be forecasted with more or less confidence. #Quote by John Maynard Keynes
Expectations quotes by Henri J.M. Nouwen
#48. Addiction" might be the best word to explain the lostness that so deeply permeates society. Our addiction make us cling to what the world proclaims as the keys to self-fulfillment: accumulation of wealth and power; attainment of status and admiration; lavish consumption of food and drink, and sexual gratification without distinguishing between lust and love. These addictions create expectations that cannot but fail to satisfy our deepest needs. As long as we live within the world's delusions, our addictions condemn us to futile quests in "the distant country," leaving us to face an endless series of disillusionments while our sense of self remains unfulfilled. In these days of increasing addictions, we have wandered far away from our Father's home. The addicted life can aptly be designated a life lived in "a distant country." It is from there that our cry for deliverance rises up. #Quote by Henri J.M. Nouwen
Expectations quotes by Kari Byron
#49. It was time for me to throw out my expectations and my baggage, but, most importantly, my assumptions. About myself, about life, and about who can and can't have the career of their dreams. I searched my mind for a mantra. At the top of the list was the all-purpose powerhouse: "Why not? #Quote by Kari Byron
Expectations quotes by Charles Dickens
#50. I resolved to tell my guardian that I doubted Orlick being the right sort of man to fill a post of trust at Miss Havisham's. 'Why of course he is not the right sort of man, Pip,' said my guardian, comfortably satisfied beforehand on the general head, 'because the man who fills the post of trust never is the right sort of man. #Quote by Charles Dickens
Expectations quotes by Margaret Chase Smith
#51. Every human being is entitled to courtesy and consideration. Constructive criticism is not only to be expected but sought. #Quote by Margaret Chase Smith
Expectations quotes by Ken Keyes Jr.
#52. The love and peace of higher consciousness flow from just being - and enjoying it all. Anything you do will not be enough unless you feel fulfilled in just being. Usually we are not happy when we find doing whatever it is that we think we have to do. Doing creates expectations that your world and the people around you may or may not fit. The things we do disappear in time. We must learn to appreciate just being alive in the nowness of whatever situation we are in. #Quote by Ken Keyes Jr.
Expectations quotes by Yuval Noah Harari
#53. The glass ceiling of happiness is held in place by two stout pillars, one psychological, the other biological. On the psychological level, happiness depends on expectations rather than objective conditions. We don't become satisfied by leading a peaceful and prosperous existence. Rather, we become satisfied when reality matches our expectations. The bad news is that as conditions improve, expectations balloon. Dramatic improvements in conditions, as humankind has experienced in recent decades, translate into greater expectations rather than greater contentment. If we don't do something about this, our future achievements too might leave us as dissatisfied as ever. On #Quote by Yuval Noah Harari
Expectations quotes by Nasri Atallah
#54. Everyone lives in a proverbial music video for a few hours. Then they leave the blinged out universe of faux-independence and fleeting adulthood and return to their parents' homes. Their parents' homes replete with marble floors and gold chandeliers and expectations of virginal daughters. #Quote by Nasri Atallah
Expectations quotes by Susan Jane Gilman
#55. Weddings are giant Rorschach tests onto which everyone around you projects their fears, fantasies, and expectations
many of which they've been cultivating since the day you were born. #Quote by Susan Jane Gilman
Expectations quotes by Lord Kelvin
#56. I have not the smallest molecule of faith in aerial navigation other than ballooning, or of the expectation of good results from any of the trials we heard of. So you will understand that I would not care to be a member of the Aeronautical Society. #Quote by Lord Kelvin
Expectations quotes by William Congreve
#57. Would any thing but a madman complain of uncertainty? Uncertainty and expectation are joys of life; security is an insipid thing; and the overtaking and possessing of a wish discovers the folly of the chase. #Quote by William Congreve
Expectations quotes by Todd Stocker
#58. Jesus' love for you far outweighs your expectations of Him. #Quote by Todd Stocker
Expectations quotes by Ann Voskamp
#59. Instead of filling with expectations, the joy-filled expect nothing
and are filled. #Quote by Ann Voskamp
Expectations quotes by Edmund Burke
#60. You would have had a protected, satisfied, laborious, and obedient people, taught to seek and to recognize the happiness that is to be found by virtue in all conditions; in which consists the true moral equality of mankind, and not in that monstrous fiction, which, by inspiring false ideas and vain expectations into men destined to travel in the obscure walk of laborious life, serves only to aggravate and embitter that real inequality, which it never can remove; and which the order of civil life establishes as much for the benefit of those whom it must leave in a humble state, as those whom it is able to exalt to a condition more splendid, but not more happy. #Quote by Edmund Burke
Expectations quotes by Sameh Elsayed
#61. When you expect something from your self and your own self disappoints you ... this is what i call a real disappointment . The worst disappointments comes from in-within. #Quote by Sameh Elsayed
Expectations quotes by Osho
#62. The joy of having something comes from the length of time you have been wanting it, expecting it. Happiness really lies in the expectation. So once you achieve it, it loses its charm for you. Every happiness is imaginary: so long as you don't possess it, it seems to be abounding happiness. But as soon as it is actualized, it ceases to be happiness; our hands are as empty as before. And then we seek some other object for our desire, and we begin to expect it again. We feel so unhappy without it and imagine that happiness will come with it. #Quote by Osho
Expectations quotes by Alexandra Bracken
#63. If I wasn't the same person I had been six years ago, how could I expect her to be? #Quote by Alexandra Bracken
Expectations quotes by Sanhita Baruah
#64. Do you know that pain of leaving when you look back expecting to see a face waving goodbye at you but all you see is a dark abandoned corner?
There won't be any reason to return then.
All you can do is look ahead and not to stumble and fall on the pit ahead waiting for you. #Quote by Sanhita Baruah
Expectations quotes by Lourdes Garcia-Navarro
#65. Iran has a young population, and the desire to get out from under conservative religious social restrictions and to be able to speak their mind without fear of arrest is palpable. But nearly seven years after authorities crushed massive street protests, reformers are still threatened with arrest and expectations for change are extremely low. #Quote by Lourdes Garcia-Navarro
Expectations quotes by Carrie Fisher
#66. Happy is one of the many things I'm likely to be over the course of a day and certainly over the course of a lifetime. But I think if you have the expectation that you're going to be happy throughout your life
more to the point, if you have a need to be comfortable all the time
well, among other things, you have the makings of a classic drug addict or alcoholic. #Quote by Carrie Fisher
Expectations quotes by Patricia Arquette
#67. Throughout history, the human species has struggled to some extent. It's part of us, as human beings, to provide better for our children and to try to do all these different things. The expectations have changed drastically, and thank God they have. Women have more rights, and women do have their own power in the world. #Quote by Patricia Arquette

#72. human beings have an almost infinite capacity for adapting to the expectations around #Quote by Gloria Steinem
Expectations quotes by Bat For Lashes
#73. I could talk for ages about how women are amazing, but essentially we shouldn't be manipulated by the media's expectations of our bodies. I'd recommend every woman to read 'Women Who Run with the Wolves' - it's about being in touch with your more wild, free and powerful side. #Quote by Bat For Lashes
Expectations quotes by Colin Firth
#74. I thought I was managing my expectations, but on hearing the news I discovered new and unfamiliar vocal tones. Perhaps I should do another musical. #Quote by Colin Firth

#75. Putting on the spectacles of science in expectation of finding an answer to everything looked at signifies inner blindness. #Quote by J. Frank Dobie
Expectations quotes by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse
#76. Every time we make an assumption - for example, that we understand our spouse - we are exposing ourselves like an open wound. Assumptions and expectations that rely on someone or something else leave us vulnerable. At any moment, one of the uncountable possible contradictions can pop up and sprinkle salt on our assumptions, causing us to flinch and howl. #Quote by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse
Expectations quotes by Percy Bysshe Shelley
#77. In the firm expectation that when London shall be a habitation of bitterns, when St. Paul and Westminster Abbey shall stand shapeless and nameless ruins in the midst of an unpeopled marsh, when the piers of Waterloo Bridge shall become the nuclei of islets of reeds and osiers, and cast the jagged shadows of their broken arches on the solitary stream, some Transatlantic commentator will be weighing in the scales of some new and now unimagined system of criticism the respective merits of the Bells and the Fudges and their historians. #Quote by Percy Bysshe Shelley
Expectations quotes by Molly Ivins
#78. In Texas, we do not hold high expectations for the [governor's] office; it's mostly been occupied by crooks, dorks and the comatose. #Quote by Molly Ivins
Expectations quotes by David Richo
#79. Mindfulness is an ancient meditation mode in which we let go of our fears, our attachments to control and being right, our expectations and entitlements, and our judgments of others. Instead of these popular strategies, we learn to simply stay present opening in the moment - with nothing in the way - so we can experience life as it occurs. #Quote by David Richo
Expectations quotes by Susanna Kaysen
#80. For many of us, the hospital was as much a refuge as it was a prison. Though we were cut off from the world and all the trouble we enjoyed stirring up out there, we were also cut off from the demands and expectations that had driven us crazy. What could be expected of us now that we were stowed away in a loony bin? #Quote by Susanna Kaysen
Expectations quotes by Howard W. Hunter
#81. Realizing who we are and what we may become assures us that with God nothing really is impossible. From the time we learn that Jesus wants us for a Sunbeam until we learn more fully the basic principles of the gospel, we are taught to strive for perfection. It is not new to us then to talk of the importance of achievement. The difficulty arises when inflated expectations of the world alter our definition of greatness. #Quote by Howard W. Hunter
Expectations quotes by Shakti Gawain
#82. When we create something, we always create it first in a thought form. If we are basically positive in attitude, expecting and envisioning pleasure, satisfaction and happiness, we will attract and create people, situations, and events which conform to our positive expectations. #Quote by Shakti Gawain
Expectations quotes by Narendra Modi
#83. I fully understand the expectations of the state governments. Thus, I am better placed to work closely with the chief ministers. #Quote by Narendra Modi
Expectations quotes by Heather Moehn
#84. Using the Worst-Case Scenario Technique

Another way to correct inaccurate expectations is to imagine what would happen if the worst possible scenario occurred. Pretend that everything has gone wrong at once. Picture all the details and then exaggerate them. As you visualize the worst situation possible, you may start to laugh. The scene will seem so ridiculous that you realize there is not the slightest chance that it will take place.

Lupe used the worst-case scenario technique after deciding that she really wanted to join the yearbook committee. The students in the group met after school once a week, and Lupe felt anxious about attending her first meeting. She was certain she would clamp up when people spoke to her. The morning before the meeting, she relaxed and imagined the worst things that could happen. She pictured herself saying something and everyone ignoring her. She pictured her face getting so red that it looked like she was going to explode. Then she imagined people laughing at her, saying she didn't belong.
This exercise helped Lupe realize that her fears were unfounded. That afternoon, after a little pep talk and a few deep breaths, Lupe walked into the meeting. She was relieved that people were genuinely happy to have her there. She felt proud that she was able to be involved in a situation that she would have previously avoided. #Quote by Heather Moehn

Expectations quotes by Bianca Sparacino
#87. Trust that some of the best days of your life haven't even happened yet. There are going to be parties that leave you dancing until 6am, spontaneous adventures that teach you more than you ever learned in a classroom. There are going to be nights that will stay burned beneath your eyelids, memories that dance underneath your skin. Life is going to exceed your expectations, it is going to astonish you with its timing.

Remember - you have not felt it all.
The world still has so much left for you #Quote by Bianca Sparacino
Expectations quotes by Richard Branson

Expectations quotes by Henry David Thoreau
#89. Fishermen, hunters, woodchoppers, and others, spending their lives in the fields and woods, in a peculiar sense a part of Nature themselves, are often in a more favorable mood for observing her, in the intervals of their pursuits, than philosophers or poets even, who approach her with expectation. She is not afraid to exhibit herself to them. #Quote by Henry David Thoreau
Expectations quotes by Seth Godin
#90. Great bosses and world-class organizations hire motivated people, set high expectations, and give their people room to become remarkable. #Quote by Seth Godin
Expectations quotes by Brooke Fraser
#91. People aren't problems to be fixed. People are people, for us to walk alongside and journey with and help pick up the pieces with and, when they drop them again, to get back down and help them pick them up again. And that's real love - without condition and without expectation. #Quote by Brooke Fraser
Expectations quotes by John C. Maxwell
#92. Negative expectations are a quick route to dead-end thinking. #Quote by John C. Maxwell
Expectations quotes by Debasish Mridha

Expectations quotes by Todd Henry
#94. PREFACE TO THE PAPERBACK EDITION How much work did you do today that you will be proud of tomorrow? I don't mean just how you handled the big things, but also how you addressed the little, seemingly insignificant ones. Did you make progress on what matters most to you, or did you allow the buzz, busyness, and expectations of others to squelch your passion and focus? I've been asking these questions of others and myself each day for more than a decade, and they are the main reason I originally felt compelled to write Die Empty. Through my work I've encountered many teams of brilliant, sharp, amazing, talented people who have at some point "settled in" or begun coasting on past success. Unfortunately, #Quote by Todd Henry
Expectations quotes by Nadya Andreeva
#95. and the way you felt after a meal. It literally cannot be too detailed. If you think it is relevant, put it down. Among the things that you should track in your food log are your thoughts and expectations prior to the meals. Are you looking forward to something? Do you feel that you #Quote by Nadya Andreeva
Expectations quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
#96. There are people who are never content, never appeased, forever dissatisfied - who continually look to what escapes them, convincing themselves that if only they could attain that one desire outside of reach they would be happy. It seems almost pointless to give to these people because their eyes immediately shift from the gift to stare miserably at the portion held back. Their wants, demands, expectations, appetites are never satiated, thus they refuse to be happy. And you cannot make them so. #Quote by Richelle E. Goodrich
Expectations quotes by T.F. Hodge
#97. Apply expectations appropriately. Do not assume [all] adults are as grown up and mature as they should be, or appear to be. #Quote by T.F. Hodge
Expectations quotes by Vern Law
#98. Expectations tend to be self-fulfilling. #Quote by Vern Law
Expectations quotes by Wilma Scott Heide
#99. Unless women have, from the moment of birth, socialization for, expectations of, and preparation for a viable significant alternative to motherhood ... women will continue to want and reproduce too many children. #Quote by Wilma Scott Heide
Expectations quotes by Trip Lee
#100. Its a call-to-action to rise from the dead and actually live. Were born spiritually dead, and Im calling for everyone to become spiritually alive. Secondly, dont wait until later to live the way you were created. God created you to honor Him, find joy, and serve others. Dont sleep on that. Lastly, rise above the low expectations people have. #Quote by Trip Lee
Expectations quotes by Sigmund Freud
#101. Observe the difference between your attitude to illusions and mine. You have to defend the religious illusion with all your might. If it becomes discredited - and indeed the threat to it is great enough - then your world collapses. There is nothing left for you but to despair of everything, of civilization and the future of mankind. From that bondage I am, we are, free. Since we are prepared to renounce a good part of our infantile wishes, we can bear it if a few of our expectations turn out to be illusions. #Quote by Sigmund Freud
Expectations quotes by Gary Johnson
#102. I've always considered myself a Libertarian. While I was running for governor of New Mexico, the Republicans were totally inclusive of me; the party was open-armed, but they never thought I'd win. I delivered in a really big way; I exceeded their expectations and think I'm still highly regarded by the GOP in New Mexico. #Quote by Gary Johnson
Expectations quotes by Glenda Green
#103. Love is a gift, a miracle, a mystery. You are led to its threshold by your affinities, by your inclinations, and by the yearnings of your heart, although its power and presentation is by grace, not by expectation, demand, or requirement. Love is the ultimate paradox, for it is the lamb that is also the lion. Love is the ultimate power, which resides in surrender. #Quote by Glenda Green
Expectations quotes by Rachel Naomi Remen
#104. I had thought joy to be rather synonymous with happiness, but it seems now to be far less vulnerable than happiness. Joy seems to be a part of an unconditional wish to live, not holding back because life may not meet our preferences and expectations. Joy seems to be a function of the willingness to accept the whole, and to show up to meet with whatever is there. It has a kind of invincibility that attachment to any particular outcome would deny us. #Quote by Rachel Naomi Remen
Expectations quotes by Princess Tatiana Of Greece And Denmark
#105. Living up to other people's expectations is always difficult. #Quote by Princess Tatiana Of Greece And Denmark
Expectations quotes by Iyanla Vanzant

Expectations quotes by Sarah Manguso
#108. Choose one: chronic disappointment or lowering your expectations to the point where nothing can disappoint you. But consider also that you might miss feeling disappointed. #Quote by Sarah Manguso
Expectations quotes by Nicholas Sparks
#109. Real people had real agendas, real demands, real expectations about how other people should behave. #Quote by Nicholas Sparks
Expectations quotes by Kathryn Smith
#110. You'd have a better time without me." It wasn't a direct refusal.
She folded her arms beneath the swell of her lovely bosom. "No, I won't. And I don't understand how you can expect me to face the gossips on my own."
"I don't expect you to do anything. You seem to be the one with the expectations." Oh, yes, this was good. Getting defensive was so manly of him.
"Is it wrong of me to expect you to act like a husband?"
"Plenty of husbands do not attend balls with their wives."
"Yes, but those wives generally find someone to keep them company later."
Heat rushed to Grey's cheeks as the meaning of her words struck him. "Are you planning to take a lover, Rose?"
"Of course not." Rose regarded him as though he were a bothersome child. "I just want you to come with me. You are a duke, for heaven's sake. You can tell them all to go to hell and get away with it. You have nothing to be afraid of."
She couldn't seem to get further than that. She thought he was afraid. That he was a coward. That stung. No, that pissed him off. But how could he make her understand?
"I'm not afraid of them, Rose." Not really. "I just don't want to be around those people. I don't like them."
"You can't dislike all of them." All her disdain was missing was a good eye-rolling. #Quote by Kathryn Smith
Expectations quotes by David Richo
#111. Mindful grief means mourning and letting go of the past without expectation, fear, censure, blame, shame, control and so forth. Without such mindful grief, neither past nor person can be laid to rest. #Quote by David Richo
Expectations quotes by Maya Rodale
#112. Like the world had met her low expectations. #Quote by Maya Rodale
Expectations quotes by Rajneesh
#113. An expectation is a shelter - it gives you a security feeling. So when someone breaks your expectations he is breaking your shelter, making you insecure, fearful. #Quote by Rajneesh
Expectations quotes by Epictetus
#114. Circumstances do not rise to meet our expectations. Events happen as they do. People behave as they are. Embrace what you actually get. #Quote by Epictetus
Expectations quotes by Samuel Johnson
#115. He who expects much will be often disappointed; yet disappointment seldom cures us of expectation, or has any other effect than that of producing a moral sentence or peevish exclamation. #Quote by Samuel Johnson
Expectations quotes by David Thorne
#116. Copywriting basically consists of taking something dreadful, putting it in a box with a shiny ribbon, and presenting it to someone. Any disappointment the recipient has upon opening the box is entirely due to their own high expectations and therefore their fault. #Quote by David Thorne
Expectations quotes by Sherry Turkle
#117. Networked, we are together, but so lessened are our expectations of each other that we can feel utterly alone. And there is the risk that we come to see others as objects to be accessed - and only for the parts we find useful, comforting, or amusing. #Quote by Sherry Turkle
Expectations quotes by Luc Ferry
#118. The present moment is the only dimension of existence worth inhabiting, because it is the only one available to us. (...)
Yet we live virtually all of our lives somewhere between memories, and aspirations, nostalgia and expectations. #Quote by Luc Ferry
Expectations quotes by Deepak Ranjan
#119. Don't have the power to make someone happy…?' I
criticized.
'I have the power, the desire… But No marriage, No girlfriend stuff… When I feel like doing something crazy, I can pay and get a girl in bed… No emotions, no argument, and no expectations, just I want to fuck and fulfil my desire, that's it…! Darling, there is nothing like 'LOVE', everything revolves around the four lettered word – 'FUCK', understood…?' he explained naughtily. #Quote by Deepak Ranjan
Expectations quotes by Dan Pearce
#120. And if you are a mom who has watched your child's father leave, my heart goes out to you. I also pray that you had no part in it. I pray that you didn't make it impossible for him while he was there. I pray that you didn't try and force him to live up to impossible expectations. And, I pray that if he is a good man and he wants to be there in his child's life that you love your child enough to let him. Even if that seems impossible to you. #Quote by Dan Pearce
Expectations quotes by Daniel Bates
#121. High demands and expectations without skill development, encouragement or the feeling of a "win" will lead to resentment. Demanding perfection is exhausting on the part of the person making the demands and on the person of whom the perfection is demanded. #Quote by Daniel Bates
Expectations quotes by Kemi Sogunle
#122. You can't give love when you haven't experienced love. #Quote by Kemi Sogunle
Expectations quotes by Amanda Ripley
#123. A lot of the time you see a warning, in the subway, or in a movie theater, the main thrust of the warning will be to not panic if there is an emergency. To listen to directions. Now that's a waste. They could have given you information, but you can see their expectation that you're going to screw up. #Quote by Amanda Ripley
Expectations quotes by Jessica Lahey
#124. Middle school is prime time for failure, even among kids who have sailed through school up to that point. The combined stressors of puberty, heightened academic expectations, and increased workload are a setup for failure. How parents, teachers, and students work together to overcome those inevitable failures predicts so much about how children will fare in high school, college, and beyond. #Quote by Jessica Lahey
Expectations quotes by Joyce Meyer
#125. When I was a teenager, I didn't get to do a lot of the things that other kids my age were doing because my dad was very controlling and he wouldn't allow me to go to school activities, like games and dances. So I didn't have positive expectations for my future or really dream about what I could do with my life. I was just trying to survive until I could get out on my own. #Quote by Joyce Meyer
Expectations quotes by Eckhart Tolle
#126. Accept your parents' behavior with compassion, without needing to react to it, that is to say, without personalizing it. Be aware also of your own unconscious assumptions or expectations that lie behind your old, habitual reactions to them. 'My parents should approve of what I do. They should understand me and accept me for who I am.' Really? Why should they? The fact is they don't because they can't. Their evolving consciousness hasn't made the quantum leap to the level of awareness yet. #Quote by Eckhart Tolle
Expectations quotes by Paul Hersey
#127. High expectations and belief in people leads to high performance so very often belief creates fact. #Quote by Paul Hersey
Expectations quotes by Laurie Anderson
#128. The fewer expectations you have, the better. #Quote by Laurie Anderson
Expectations quotes by Stanley Milgram
#129. Although a person acting under authority performs actions that seem to violate standards of conscience, it would not be true to say that he loses his moral sense. Instead, it acquires a radically different focus. He does not respond with a moral sentiment to the actions he performs. Rather, his moral concern now shifts to a consideration of how well he is living up to the expectations that the authority has of him. #Quote by Stanley Milgram
Expectations quotes by William C. Placher
#130. The themes of Jesus' teaching are important, but of course he was more than a teacher. All the Gospels put the end of his life at the dramatic center of his story. Here all the hopes of Israel come together - he is the king of the Jews, the greatest of all the suffering prophets. Yet Jesus transformed those expectations. He did not lead Israel to victory over Rome. Indeed, one of the remarkable features of the narratives of his last days is that his increasing isolation makes it impossible to identify him with any one 'side' or cause. The Roman governor sentenced him as a Jewish rebel, but the leaders of Judaism also turned against him. He attacked the powerful on behalf of the poor, but in the end the mob too called for his blood. His own disciples ran away; Peter denied him. He did not go to his death agony as a representative of Jews, or of the poor, or of Christians, but alone, and thus, according to Christian faith, as a representative of all. #Quote by William C. Placher
Expectations quotes by Lodro Rinzler
#131. Patience from a Buddhist perspective is not a "wait and see" attitude, but rather one of "just be there" ... Patience can also be based on not expecting anything.Think of patience as an act of being open to whatever comes your way. When you begin to solidify expectations, you get frustrated because they are not met in the way you had hoped ... With no set idea of how something is supposed to be, it is hard to get stuck on things not happening in the time frame you desired. Instead, you are just being there, open to the possibilities of your life. #Quote by Lodro Rinzler
Expectations quotes by Kurbhatt
#132. What a person want in life ?

2. Self satisfaction and craziness from work and life he live.
3. Luxury/Royal life.

Expectations quotes by Alexandra David-Neel
#135. The wise expect nothing, hope for nothing, thus avoiding all disappointment and anxiety. #Quote by Alexandra David-Neel
Expectations quotes by Gerard Butler
#136. I don't know whether it's spiritual development or trying to learn the psychologically with being an actor, but I realise the more I get into it that this was something I was always supposed to do. That allowed me to sit easiser in the life I was living. But that doesn't mean to say you just stroll through it. It takes work and the work is not always about acting. It's sometimes about how you deal with the ups and downs of hope, of expectation. #Quote by Gerard Butler
Expectations quotes by William John Wills
#137. What you say about this world I do not quite agree with; I think it a very good world, and only requires a person to be reasonable in his expectations, and not to trust too much to others. #Quote by William John Wills
Expectations quotes by Derek Landy
#138. The man had a smooth voice, like velvet. "I'm Detective Inspector Me. Unusual name, I know. My family were incredibly
narcissistic. I'm lucky I escaped with any degree of humility at all, to be honest, but then I've always managed to exceed expectations. You are Kenny Dunne, are you not?"
"I am."
"Just a few questions for you, Mr Dunne. Or Kenny. Can I call you Kenny? I feel we've become friends these past few seconds. Can I call you Kenny?"
"Sure," Kenny said, slightly baffled.
"Thank you. Thank you very much. It's important you feel comfortable around me, Kenny. It's important we build up a level of trust. That way I'll catch you completely unprepared when I
suddenly accuse you of murder. #Quote by Derek Landy
Expectations quotes by John C. Maxwell
#139. If we treat people as who they can become, they will be inspired to rise to the level of our expectations. #Quote by John C. Maxwell

Expectations quotes by A.S. Byatt
#142. Something new, they had said. They had a perfect day for it. A day with the blue and gold good weather of anyone's primitive childhood expectations, when the new, brief memory tells itself that this is what is, and therefore was, and therefore will be. A good day to see a new place. #Quote by A.S. Byatt
Expectations quotes by William Makepeace Thackeray
#143. Never marry with the expectation of changing a person. #Quote by William Makepeace Thackeray
Expectations quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
#144. Little girls grow up thinking that knights in shining armor actually exist. But they don't. And if those valiant heroes ever did bless this world with their chivalrous deeds, I imagine, just like Christ's apostles, they were destroyed by envy on the battlefront. #Quote by Richelle E. Goodrich
Expectations quotes by Richard Beck
#145. We become "possessed" by the principality and power when we internalize the spirituality of the system and the practices, beliefs, attitudes, habits, values, expectations, norms, and traditions of the system become the sources we use to form our own identity. And while the tag "possession" might seem extreme, it does help us name something more clearly, something left out of our descriptions at the start of the chapter regarding the ill effects associated with our service to the powers. Specifically, we previously noted how the powers can make us harried, stressed, and rivalrous. But it's a bit worse than all that. It's not just that the powers push us around from the outside with demands, deadlines, and expectations. The powers also affect (and infect) us from the inside. A focus on service - how we work and make sacrifices for the institution - tends to miss how we often internalize the spirituality of the institution, how our identity becomes formed by and fused with the institution. A focus on service and work (though important) tends to be too behavioral in nature to capture how the institution gets inside us, inhabiting our hearts and minds and affecting how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. #Quote by Richard Beck
Expectations quotes by Weike Wang
#146. An equation.

happiness = reality - expectations
If reality > expectations, then you are happy.
If reality < expectations, then you are not. #Quote by Weike Wang

Expectations quotes by Pepper Schwartz
#148. Holidays in general breed unrealistic expectations. The minute you start wondering, 'is it going to be wonderful enough?,' it never will be. #Quote by Pepper Schwartz
Expectations quotes by Penny Reid
#149. Since I spent much of my childhood being left behind and ignored, one might think that, as an adult, moments of perceived abandonment would feel old hat. The truth is, as an adult, I am always waiting to be left behind. I'm always ready to be discarded and, therefore, I spend a significant amount of time preparing for this eventuality.
I lower my expectations, I don't seek out meaningful relationships, and I don't engage in any sort of real intimacy, physical or otherwise.
Engage is the key word here. Except, when I engage, when it happens, when I'm left behind it doesn't feel old hat. It feels like it did the first time and it takes me by surprise. So, I don't let it happen. #Quote by Penny Reid
Expectations quotes by Sunday Adelaja

Conditional love is an oxymoron.
Conditional love is an imposter of love.
Conditional love is something other than love,
because you cannot conditionalize the un-conditional. #Quote by Donald L. Hicks

Expectations quotes by Howard Mittelmark
#161. The Puffer Fish: Wherein the author flaunts his vocabulary.

His father was IRA and his mother was Quebecois, and they had reliquished their mortal coils in the internecine conflagration that ended their conjoined separatist movement, IRA-Q. The appellation he was given by his progenitors was Ray O'Vaque ("Like the battery," he'd elucidate, with an adamantine stare that proscribed any mirth). In his years of incarceration, however, he had earned the sobriquet "Uncle Milty" for his piscine amatory habits.
He had been emancipated from the penitentiary for three weeks, and now his restless peregrinations had conveyed him to this liminal place, seeking compurgation in the permafrost of the hyperborean tundra, which was an apt analogue of the permafrost in his heart. He insinuated himself into the caravansary with nugatory expectations, which were confirmed by the exiguous provisions for comfort. But then the bartender looked up from laving the begrimed bar, his eyes growing luminous as he ejactulated, "Milt! #Quote by Howard Mittelmark

Expectations quotes by Sheldon Vanauken
#163. How strange that we cannot love time. It spoils our loveliest moments. Nothing quite comes up to expectations because of it. We alone: animals, so far as we can see, are unaware of time, untroubled. Time is their natural environment. Why do we sense that it is not ours? #Quote by Sheldon Vanauken

Expectations quotes by Brene Brown
#166. Perfectionism never happens in a vacuum. It touches everyone around us. We pass it down to our children, we infect our workplace with impossible expectations, and it's suffocating for our friends and families. Thankfully, compassion also spreads quickly. When we're kind to ourselves, we create a reservoir of compassion that we can extend to others. #Quote by Brene Brown
Expectations quotes by Ed Robertson
#167. Only your customers can define quality, because it's meeting your customers' expectations the first time every time. Simply put, it's performance to the standards of the customer. #Quote by Ed Robertson
Expectations quotes by Gretchen Rubin
#168. Upholders may struggle in situations where expectations aren't clear or the rules aren't established. They may feel compelled to meet expectations, even ones that seem pointless. They may feel uneasy when they know they're breaking the rules, even unnecessary rules, unless they work out a powerful justification to do so. #Quote by Gretchen Rubin
Expectations quotes by David Bayles
#169. The lessons you are meant to learn are in your work. To see them, you need only look at the work clearly - without judgment, without need or fear, without wishes or hopes. Without emotional expectations. Ask your work what it needs, not what you need. Then set aside your fears and listen, the way a good parent listens to a child #Quote by David Bayles

Expectations quotes by Vinnie Tesla
#171. I work hard to stay cynical enough! I keep my expectations of our culture and our leaders low, low, low, and I do it so I don't have to be let down. And yet again I am lowballed by the brokenness of the American cultural machine. #Quote by Vinnie Tesla

Expectations quotes by Dara Torres
#176. I'd proven to the world that maturity, experience, dedication, and ingenuity can make up for a little senescence. Muscle tightening is not the only thing that happens to our bodies over time. We gain knowledge, focus, and understanding, and those things can help us win. #Quote by Dara Torres

Expectations quotes by Bill Johnson
#183. Our identity sets the tone for all we do and become. Christians who live out of who they really are cannot be crippled by the opinions of others. They don't work to fit into other people's expectations, but burn with the realization of who the Father. says they are. #Quote by Bill Johnson
Expectations quotes by Jack Nicholson
#184. I respect the social graces enormously. How to pass the food. Don't yell from one room to another. Don't go through a closed door without a knock. Open the doors for the ladies. All these millions of simple household behaviors make for a better life. We can't live in constant rebellion against our parents - it's just silly. I'm very well mannered. It's not an abstract thing. It's a shared language of expectations. #Quote by Jack Nicholson

Expectations quotes by Henry B. Eyring
#192. We must also know for ourselves that the Lord restored His Church and the priesthood keys through the Prophet Joseph Smith. And we must have an assurance through the Holy Ghost, refreshed often, that those keys have been passed without interruption to the living prophet and that the Lord blesses and directs His people through the line of priesthood keys that reaches down through presidents of stakes and of districts and through bishops and branch presidents to us, wherever we are and no matter how far from the prophet and the Apostles.

That is not easy today. It was not easy in the days of Paul. It has always been hard to recognize in fallible human beings the authorized servants of God. Paul must have seemed an ordinary man to many. Joseph Smith's cheerful disposition was seen by some as not fitting their expectations for a prophet of God.

Satan will always work on the Saints of God to undermine their faith in priesthood keys. One way he does it is to point out the humanity of those who hold them. He can in that way weaken our testimony and so cut us loose from the line of keys by which the Lord ties us to Him and can take us and our families home to Him and to our Heavenly Father.

Satan succeeded in undermining the testimony of men who had, with Joseph Smith, seen the heavens opened and heard the voices of angels. The evidence of their physical eyes and ears was not enough when they no longer could feel the testimony that the priesthood keys #Quote by Henry B. Eyring
Expectations quotes by Mrs. Patrick Campbell
#193. People we love must be loved as they are. It is a want both of wisdom and courage on our part - a sort of drug - this wilful blindness, to blame them, because they fail our vision of them ... #Quote by Mrs. Patrick Campbell
Expectations quotes by Turcois Ominek

Expectations quotes by Francis Quarles
#195. Things temporal are sweeter in the expectation, things eternal are sweeter in the fruition; the first shames thy hope, the second crowns it; it is a vain journey, whose end affords less pleasure than the way. #Quote by Francis Quarles
Expectations quotes by T. S. Eliot
#196. If we take the widest and wisest view of a Cause, there is no such thing as a Lost Cause because there is no such thing as a Gained Cause. We fight for lost causes because we know that our defeat and dismay may be the preface to our successors' victory, though that victory itself will be temporary; we fight rather to keep something alive than in the expectation that anything will triumph. #Quote by T. Expectations quotes by E.M. Forster
#197. How wide the gulf between Henry as he was and Henry as Helen thought he ought to be! And she herself - hovering as usual between the two, now accepting men as they are, now yearning with her sister for Truth. Love and Truth - their warfare seems eternal. Perhaps the whole visible world rests on it, and if they were one, life itself, like the spirits when Prospero was reconciled to his brother, might vanish into air, into thin air. #Quote by E.M. Expectations quotes by Sheldon B. Kopp
#199. This wish to satisfy someone greater than the Self, to be found acceptable, to belong at last, is a struggle familiar to many psychotherapy patients. In their lives they waste themselves on wondering how they are doing, on trying to figure out the expectations of others so that they can become someone in the eyes of others. They try to be practical, to be reasonable, to figure it all out in their heads. It is as though if only they could get the words straight in their heads, if only they could find the correct formula, then everything else in their lives would be magically straightened out. They are sure there is a right way to do things, though they have not yet found it. Someone in authority must know ... It is as thought if it were discovered that two and two really did not equal four (but five), then at that moment all over the world every machine would stop operating, all of the lights would go out.
