Awkward quotes by Sherry J. Soule
#6. Quote from MOONLIGHT MAYHEM – pg 224 "Hero Intercedes":

His hands flickered upward, and before I knew it, they were cupping my face. So, damnably fast now. Demonic-like fast. Trent reeled me closer. Our foreheads joined. He held me, while I trembled in his arms. I was vaguely aware of Evans and Maxwell watching, although it didn't seem important. Nothing seemed important whenever he did this. It felt like we were enclosed in our own personal bubble made only for the two of us. Trent murmured something in my ear.

We stood like that until my shaky legs gradually regained strength. I shut my eyes and pretended my body wasn't sizzling with heat-lightning because Trent stood so close. My hormones always decided to rebel whenever he put his arms around me. And it wasn't totally awkward and uncomfortable.

No, it felt like the best thing I'd experienced since before Dad's death. And that's saying a lot. #Quote by Sherry J. Soule
Awkward quotes by Vera-Ellen
#7. I was called a bookish child. Mother sent me to a ballet teacher in Cincinnati when I was nine years old. I guess I was an awkward child and the family wanted me to be graceful. When I found out I liked to dance and people seemed to like to watch me, I was determined to go places. #Quote by Vera-Ellen
Awkward quotes by Brandon Sanderson
#8. You're making me get used to sleeping at night," she said. "Plus, I don't sleep in my clothing anymore." "If you did, it would make things a little awkward." Awkward quotes by Zadie Smith
#9. Her beauty was not a sharp, cold commodity. She smelled musty, womanly, like a bundle of your favourite clothes... She wore her sexuality with an older woman's ease, and not (as with most of the girls Archie had run with in the past) like an awkward purse, never knowing how to hold it, where to hang it or when to just put it down. (~of Clara Bowden) #Quote by Zadie Smith
Awkward quotes by Myra McEntire
#10. I am super awkward at social situations in general, and there's some major stuff going down, so I'm not going to hold to any sort of societal standard, and I'm just going to pretend like we've known each other long enough to say what's on our mind, and I hope that's okay. #Quote by Myra McEntire
Awkward quotes by Lauren Oliver
#11. There's that confidence again, that semi-infuriating easiness of his, the tilt of his head and the smile. but today it's not infuriating. Today I like it, feel like it's somehow rubbing off on me, like if I was around him enough I would never feel awkward or frightened or insecure. #Quote by Lauren Oliver
Awkward quotes by Anne Dudek
#12. I don't really know on the jobs I don't get - nobody calls me up and says, 'Yeah, you were too tall!' I don't know if it was that or one of a bunch of other factors. But it is awkward. I can't wear heels. #Quote by Anne Dudek
Awkward quotes by Lembit Opik
#13. I don't want to be awkward, but I've thought about this a lot, and all I want to say is in the statement. Me going out with Gabby from the Cheeky Girls is not a secret. #Quote by Lembit Opik
Awkward quotes by Jerome K. Jerome
#14. I knew a young man once, he was a most conscientious fellow, and, when he took to fly-fishing, he determined never to exaggerate his hauls by more than twenty-five per cent.

"When I have caught forty fish," said he, "then I will tell people that I have caught fifty, and so on. But I will not lie any more than that, because it is sinful to lie."

But the twenty-five per cent. plan did not work well at all. He never was able to use it. The greatest number of fish he ever caught in one day was three, and you can't add twenty-five per cent. to three – at least, not in fish.

So he increased his percentage to thirty-three-and-a-third; but that, again, was awkward, when he had only caught one or two; so, to simplify matters, he made up his mind to just double the quantity.

He stuck to this arrangement for a couple of months, and then he grew dissatisfied with it. Nobody believed him when he told them that he only doubled, and he, therefore, gained no credit that way whatever, while his moderation put him at a disadvantage among the other anglers. When he had really caught three small fish, and said he had caught six, it used to make him quite jealous to hear a man, whom he knew for a fact had only caught one, going about telling people he had landed two dozen.

So, eventually, he made one final arrangement with himself, which he has religiously held to ever since, and that was to count each fish that he caught as ten, and to assum #Quote by Jerome K. Jerome
Awkward quotes by Cheyenne Kimball

"Especially those." said Joy. #Quote by Alethea Kontis
Awkward quotes by Lisa N. Paul

Awkward quotes by Marianne Escobar
#18. MOMENTS

I saw you first
You looked exactly
The same as before
Tall and awkward and shy
I walked towards you
My hands clammy
I felt cold inside
My insides were shaking
Cant run
This is it.

U saw me
Your face brightened
A smile painted on your face
I missed it
Your smile
It brought back the past

You walked
I walked
Nearer
It feels like in the
Movies
Two people
A boy and a girl
Meeting halfway
Hoping for a happy
Ever after

I stopped
Right before I reached you
I realized
This isn't like the movies
I turned
I told myself
Don't smile

You reached me
Close
So close
I felt the urge
To touch you
Hug you
And maybe
Kiss you

There weren't Hellos
Only silent prayers
Smiling
You reached for my hand
Giving me something
You knew I love

It was awkward
You standing there
Me standing there
So close
Too close
Yet so far

I looked up to you
I tried to ask myself
Are you for real?
You smiled wider
Shy but happy

You left as fast
As you came back
It was for a second
I hated time
I wished it was
A little bit longer

With that,
I knew
I still want you. #Quote by Marianne Escobar
Awkward quotes by Mark Hoppus
#19. There is nothing more awkward and more laughable than a naked dude with his wiener flopping. #Quote by Mark Hoppus
Awkward quotes by Jacqueline Carey
#20. An awkward silence descended between us. Where did that phrase come from? I wonder. Silence descended. Descended from where exactly? Was it hovering over us like the alien spaceship in Independence Day? Maybe it wasn't really silence so much as it was the smothering weight of something unsaid, words we'd kept at bay, kept in the air, by talking about other things. #Quote by Jacqueline Carey
Awkward quotes by Katie Kacvinsky
#21. It was a little awkward walking behind his mom when, about eight hours ago, I had been rolling around on the floor with her son with my shirt pulled halfway up my back. #Quote by Katie Kacvinsky
Awkward quotes by Rick Riordan
#22. That awkward moment when you jump out a window because your friend jumped out a window, then you remember that your other friend can fly. #Quote by Rick Riordan
Awkward quotes by Penny Reid
#23. I think you need to give me a pet name - a term of endearment."
His face was its typical impassive mask, but I could tell that I'd surprised him.
Finally, he said, "Like ... babe?"
"No - that feels awkward and wrong and has undertones of pedophilia. I'm thinking of something more age appropriate, yet affectionate. #Quote by Penny Reid
Awkward quotes by Adrian Tchaikovsky
#24. I was young at Myna, that first time. When had the change come? He had retreated to here, to Collegium, to spin his awkward webs of intrigue and to lecture at the College. Then, years on, the call had come for action. He had gone to that chest in which he stored his youth and found that, like some armour long unworn, it had rusted away.
He tried to tell himself that this was not like the grumbling of any other man who finds the prime of his life behind him. I need my youth and strength now, as never before. A shame that one could no husband time until one needed it. All his thoughts rang hollow. He was past his best and that was the thorn that would not be plucked from his side. He was no different from any tradesman or scholar who, during a life of indolence, pauses partway up the stairs to think, This was not so hard, yesterday. #Quote by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Awkward quotes by Joe Abercrombie
#25. West couldn't simply leave the man like this, he didn't have it in him.

"Goodman Heath," he said as he approached, and the peasant looked up at him, surprised. He fumbled for his hat and made to rise, muttering apologies.

"No, please, don't get up." West sat down on the bench. He stared at his feet, unable to look the man in the eye. There was an awkward silence. "I have a friend who sits on the Commission for Land and Agriculture. There might be something he can do for you…" He trailed off, embarrassed, squinting up the corridor.

The farmer gave a sad smile. "I'd be right grateful for anything you could do."

"Yes, yes, of course, I'll do what I can." It would do no good whatsoever, and they both knew it. West grimaced and bit his lip. "You'd better take this," and he pressed his purse into the peasant's limp, calloused fingers. Heath looked at him, mouth slightly open. West gave a quick, awkward smile then got to his feet. He was very keen to be off.

"Sir!" called Goodman Heath after him, but West was already hurrying down the corridor, and he didn't look back. #Quote by Joe Abercrombie
Awkward quotes by Myles Horton
#26. The critic said, but don't you feel awkward about biting the hand that feeds you? I said no, I enjoy just gnawing it up to the shoulder. #Quote by Myles Horton
Awkward quotes by W. Somerset Maugham
#27. He was no longer the awkward man of social intercourse, who was sufficiently conscious of his limitations not to talk of what he did not understand, and sincere enough not to express admiration for what he did not like. #Quote by W. Somerset Maugham
Awkward quotes by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
#28. Talk to her about sex, and start early. It will probably be a bit awkward, but it is necessary. #Quote by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Awkward quotes by Loretta Chase
#29. Humor will relieve an awkward moment. #Quote by Loretta Chase
Awkward quotes by Ann Patchett
#30. You don't find strangers declaring themselves to you awkward?' But then she wouldn't, would she? People must fall in love with her hourly. She must keep a staff of translators to interpret the proposals of love and marriage.
'It's easier to love a woman when you can't understand a word she's saying,' Roxane said. #Quote by Ann Patchett
Awkward quotes by Willa Cather
#31. [Mark Twain] is still the rough, awkward, good-natured boy who swore at the deck hands when he was three years old. Thoroughly likeable as a good fellow, but impossible as a man of letters. #Quote by Willa Cather
Awkward quotes by Adi Alsaid
#32. I'm usually a bit awkward in houses that I haven't been to before, so it's a way to not look weird. If I find something I've read before it automatically makes me more comfortable. #Quote by Adi Alsaid
Awkward quotes by Zac Efron
#33. The awkward thing for me is when the realization happens that I actually might like this girl. Then I become awkward. #Quote by Zac Efron
Awkward quotes by Karl Wiggins
#34. Much as I try not to find weirdos amongst the other passengers, I keep finding weirdos amongst the other passengers. Take this old woman yesterday, marching down the platform in front of me like she had a stick stuck up her arse. She had a face like an albino walnut. I didn't know this at the time, of course, until I had cause to glance at her.
Anyway, she was marching along talking to someone, swinging her arm about, and just as I go to overtake her she swung her hand down-and-out and hit me in the dick!
I didn't know what to do. #Quote by Karl Wiggins
Awkward quotes by John Locke
#35. Affectation is an awkward and forced imitation of what should be genuine and easy, wanting the beauty that accompanies what is natural. #Quote by John Locke
Awkward quotes by Candice Swanepoel
#36. At school I got teased because I was so thin and awkward-looking. But the girls on TV looked similar to me. I would say to my mum, 'The girls at school are teasing me, but I look like those girls on TV.' #Quote by Candice Swanepoel
Awkward quotes by Panda Bear
#37. It's awkward, because sometimes you find new friends that are cooler than your old friends, and then your old friends desperately try to cling on to you even though you sort of hate them by now. #Quote by Panda Bear
Awkward quotes by Jim Butcher
#38. I'm never really comfortable at parties. Maybe I'm just not the partying type.
... I think it's because I'm never sure what to do with myself.
I mean, there're drinks, but I don't like being drunk ... There's music, but I never really learned to dance to anything that involved an electric guitar. There are people to talk to ... but once you put all the stupid things I do aside, I'm really not that interesting. I like reading, staying home, going on walks with my dog ... Who wants to hear about that? Especially when I would have to scream it over music to which no one dances.
So I'm there but not drinking, listening to music but not dancing, and trying to have conversations with near-strangers about anything other than my own stupid life ... Leads to a lot of awkward pauses. And then I start wondering why I showed up in the first place.
Cold Days (The Dresden Files Book 14), pg. 33 #Quote by Jim Butcher
Awkward quotes by Stephen Fry
#39. I really do believe that there are those who would like and trust me better if they saw me weeping into a whisky, making a fool of myself, getting aggressive, maudlin and drunkenly out of control. I have never found those states in others anything other than tiring, awkward, embarrassing and fantastically dull, but I am quite sure that people would cherish a view of me in that condition at least once in a while. #Quote by Stephen Fry
Awkward quotes by Kirsty McCay
#40. I lift the board high above my head and ... bring the metal down on the driver's exposed neck.
There it sticks, stuck in his throat, like an awkward question. #Quote by Kirsty McCay
Awkward quotes by John Naughton
#41. Computer programmers tend, by and large, to be quirky and highly individualistic. Trying to organize or manage such awkward characters is normally as thankless as herding cats #Quote by John Naughton
Awkward quotes by Nicole Krauss
#42. The more freedom I allow myself as a writer to wander, become lost and go into uncertain territory - and I am always trying to go to the more awkward place, the more difficult place - the more frightening it is, because I have no plan. #Quote by Nicole Krauss
Awkward quotes by John O'Donohue
#43. If you try to avoid or remove the awkward quality, it will pursue you. The only effective way to still its unease is to transfigure it, to let it become something creative and positive that contributes to who you are. Nietzche said that one of the best days in his life was the day when he rebaptized all his negative qualities as his best qualities. Rather than banishing what is at first glimpse unwelcome, you bring it home to unity with your life ... ..One of your sacred duties is to exercise kindness towrd them. In a sense, you are called to be a loving parent to your delinquent qualiites #Quote by John O'Donohue
Awkward quotes by Parke Godwin
#44. Hear the language, this English, double-jointed as Bedivere's limbs. It only sounds awkward. In its ability to join one concept to another as with pegs, its dependent clauses, figures of speech and cadenced alliteration, a man can say one thing five ways and yet imply a sixth; can change meaning with an inflection, a pause or a deliberate misuse of a word, can mock, scorn and flay an opponent without uttering one overt insult. #Quote by Parke Godwin
Awkward quotes by Jamie Tworkowski
#45. Our job is to love people. When it hurts. When it's awkward. When it's uncool and embarrassing. Our job is to stand together, to carry the burdens of one another and to meet each other in our questions. #Quote by Jamie Tworkowski
Awkward quotes by Vironika Tugaleva
#46. There is no way to genuinely, powerfully, truly love yourself while crafting a mask of perfection. I know, you know, we all know - it's hard to let your pimples and your flaws be seen. It's hard to stumble and bumble. It's hard to not know the right things to do or say. It's hard to not look like TV.

Sometimes, it's really hard for me to be the awkward mess that I am when I'm authentic, instead of having runway authenticity - all natural, but flawless. But every time I allow that to be okay, not just around myself but around others - I affirm something to myself. I affirm, to myself more than anyone else, that I am lovable and acceptable unconditionally. I affirm that it's okay to take on and take in all the flavours and hues of human experience, and not just the ones that are acceptable in this culture, in this time, in this place.

And that kind of acceptance, that kind of love - that's the kind of love that creates miracles. That's the kind of love I really need. That's the kind of love that makes approval taste like cardboard. #Quote by Vironika Tugaleva
Awkward quotes by Malinda Lo
#47. Kissing Amber was like falling into the sea: Her body surrendered to the pull of the tide, buoyed by the saltwater, every breath tasting like the ocean. Reese lost all sense of where the surface was. All there was, was this. Amber's lips, her tongue, her hands stroking back Reese's hair, curling around her head and holding her steady. If their first kiss had been a bit awkward, that was gone now. #Quote by Malinda Lo
Awkward quotes by John Cusack
#48. It's something we, guys, have all done. Made tapes for girls, trying to impress them, to meet them on a shared plane of aesthetics. Read them someone else's poetry because they do poetry better than you could do it, because you're too awkward to do it. #Quote by John Cusack
Awkward quotes by Pat Morita
#49. I'm awkward at these things. Just being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Karate Kid was a real surprise and I was a little uncomfortable. #Quote by Pat Morita
Awkward quotes by Jenny Holzer
#50. I was hesitant to approach people. I'm socially awkward. But I was working on a number of memorials, and finally it dawned on me: These are memorials to people who wrote, so I should use their writing. That's how I started to quit. #Quote by Jenny Holzer
Awkward quotes by Melanie Lynskey
#51. I like to play the grey areas in life - that's the most uncomfortable place to be. Nobody likes to be in that in-between state where there don't know what's going to happen. There's a lot of tension in that, and a lot of stuff to play with - where it's uncomfortable and awkward and sad and scary. #Quote by Melanie Lynskey
Awkward quotes by Susan Ee
#52. What are you doing?'
'What?' Ugh. I suck at this.
'Are you batting your lashes at me?'
'What, me? No, of course not. What . . . spell it.'
He squints his eyes suspiciously at me. 'This is awkward.'
'Yes, it is.'
'You're not going to make this easy on me, are you?'
'You'd lose all respect for me if I did.'
'I'd make an exception for you. #Quote by Susan Ee
Awkward quotes by Marcia Muller
#53. As I sat in a small room constructing what seemed to me awkward sentences and paragraphs, McCone was out having exciting adventures. #Quote by Marcia Muller
Awkward quotes by Maureen Corrigan
#54. Social class. Class remains our national awkward topic, usually mumbled over in academic diversity workshops; indeed, most people don't know how to talk about class without automatically coupling it with race. That's because we Americans are loath to recognize that the sky's-the-limit potential we take as our birthright comes at a price far beyond what many Americans--of any race--can afford to pay. #Quote by Maureen Corrigan
Awkward quotes by Brian Eno
#55. Zappa was very technical and impressed by things that were musically challenging - weird time signatures, strange keys, awkward chord sequences. Zappa was important to me as an example of everything I didn't want to do. I'm very grateful to him, actually. #Quote by Brian Eno
Awkward quotes by Louis C.K.
#56. I was an awkward kid. #Quote by Louis C.K.
Awkward quotes by Henry David Thoreau
#57. Silence is the universal refuge, the sequel to all dull discourses and all foolish acts, a balm to our every chagrin, as welcome after satiety as after disappointment; that background which the painter may not daub, be he master or bungler, and which, however awkward a figure we may have made in the foreground, remains ever our inviolable asylum, where no indignity can assail, no personality can disturb us. #Quote by Henry David Thoreau
Awkward quotes by Sherrilyn Kenyon
#58. I am so incredibly confused." Blinking away his tears, Darling burst out laughing at Drake's befuddled exclamation from the opposite hallway. With a shake of his head to clear his vision, he leaned against Maris and met his brother's fierce scowl. "Yes, little brother, I'm that confidently heterosexual that I can hug my best friend in public and not feel awkward while doing it." "Yeah, I can hug a guy, too. Just not nipple to nipple." Drake shivered in revulsion. "That's just a little too much bromancy for me, thank you very much." Laughing, #Quote by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Awkward quotes by Sherrilyn Kenyon
#59. And as Sumi flipped through more, she couldn't help smiling at the pictures of Hauk holding the human babies and children. They were so tiny in comparison to him. He looked awkward and scared in some, and in others - later ones - he was much more confident. One of the most adorable was a more recent image of him with a girl around a year old. She was dressed in a frilly tulle gown that filled Hauk's muscular arms with pink fluff. Laughing, the girl had her hands tangled in his braids while she laid her little head against his massive shoulder. Tears #Quote by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Awkward quotes by Rebecca Stead
#60. Bridge knew why she was here. It's why we're all here, she thought. Call it Mr. Partridge with his black-and-white cookies. Call it Em standing on that stage with her knees shaking but her voice strong. Call it Jamie looking awkward in the doorway of her bedroom after she'd had the mummy nightmare. Call it love. #Quote by Rebecca Stead
Awkward quotes by Jonathan Lethem
#61. Relax,' she said. 'There's nothing wrong with a slow, awkward beginning. The text for the whole relationship, the sustaining mythos, is built in the first few encounters. The whirl of emotions, the push and pull. So the more of this kind of material we generate, the better. #Quote by Jonathan Lethem
Awkward quotes by Tony Blackburn
#62. All I've ever wanted for my kids is for them to be happy. There's no pressure on Victoria to do anything, but she genuinely loves performing. My son Simon is in advertising. They're both tremendous people. I don't think they've ever been awkward, even Simon as a teenager. #Quote by Tony Blackburn
Awkward quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
#63. Stop tormenting Derian."

"Me?" Edgar gaped at her with a clearly fake look of innocence.

"Yes, you."

"And what about you? When will you stop tormenting him?" Edgar moved past the young queen to approach the unmoving captain. He circled the man as though he were checking out a statue on display

"I'm not tormenting him; why would you say that?"

"You have the poor guy believing you actually intend to marry him." Edgar stopped to fix the captain's collar, raising it up high and stiff around his neck.

"I do intend to marry him." Eena followed her immortal watchdog and folded down the captain's collar, repositioning it as it had been.

"Oh please," Edgar groaned. "You've had two opportunities to do so, and on both occasions you turned him down." Edgar elevated the captain's elbow - adjusting him like a mannequin - leaving it in an awkward position. "The council expressed a desire for you to marry, and you nearly hyperventilated over the mere suggestion. And just recently, due to his own paranoia, Derian all but begged you to marry him. Your refusal couldn't have been more swift or more adamant."

Eena returned the captain's elbow to his side as she retorted, "I'm only seventeen, Edgar! I have no desire to marry anyone right now. But when I am ready, Derian will be my husband."

Edgar took hold of the captain's outreaching arm and shoved it forcefully down. "He will not."

Awkward quotes by Jodi Lynn Anderson
#64. You looked strange climbing in the tree like that."
Tiger Lily pulled her braids between her fingers, her sudden self-consciousness feeling foreign and strange to her.
"I didn't do it to look nice," she said.
"But you do care."
Tiger Lily studied the tree and decided if she did care, she would now choose not to. "I don't," she said.
"All girls do," he added, pushing the point.
"You must not know many girls."
"I know a million," Peter said, dark and serious. There was a long awkward silence, but if Peter regretted his words, I couldn't tell. #Quote by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Awkward quotes by Anonymous
#65. There are so many reasons why I'm proud to be an introvert. I love being a great listener & observer. I've learned so much about people that way & it's made it very hard for anyone to deceive me. I love the fact that I'm able to enjoy my own company. I'm rarely bored because I have books & movies or even my imagination to keep me company. Speaking of books, since I love reading & researching, it's made me knowledgeable on various topics so that when I do talk to others, I can follow along & understand almost anything. Lastly, there is something about being an introvert that requires a quiet type of confidence. Yes, many times we might feel awkward & like an outcast in certain situations, but for the most part, we happily stand alone. It takes courage to not allow the world to mold us into what they want. Once we become comfortable in our own skin, we learn that we are unique & strong people. We are able to make significant impacts while flying under the radar & without making a scene. We don't need the spotlight or validation to know our worth. It's a beautiful thing to be an Introvert. Just thought I'd share. #Quote by Anonymous
Awkward quotes by Ari Graynor
#66. I was a precocious only child, and then I went through a fat, awkward stage for several years, so I learned to fall back on my humor and personality when I was growing up. It's how you survive, so I think it was more of a natural progression for me, developing into comedy. #Quote by Ari Graynor
Awkward quotes by Becky Chambers
#67. Perhaps the most crucial stage is that of 'intraspecies chaos.' This is the proving ground, the awkward adolescence when a species either learns to come together on a global scale, or dissolves into squabbling factions doomed to extinction, whether through war or ecological disasters too great to tackle divided. #Quote by Becky Chambers
Awkward quotes by Sophia Amoruso
#68. Selling $500 shoes when you make $12 an hour is just an awkward economic juxtaposition. #Quote by Sophia Amoruso
Awkward quotes by Gary Chapman
#69. We speak and understand best our native language. We feel most comfortable speaking that language. The more we use a secondary language, the more comfortable we become conversing in it. If we speak only our primary language and encounter someone else who speaks only his or her primary language, which is different from ours, our communication will be limited. We must rely on pointing, grunting, drawing pictures, or acting out our ideas. We can communicate, but it is awkward. #Quote by Gary Chapman
Awkward quotes by Alyssa B. Sheinmel
#70. Our convesation is awkward, as though our friendship is another skill that I remember but can't use anymore. #Quote by Alyssa B. Sheinmel
Awkward quotes by Victoria Kahler
#71. Some hugs were awkward. One person's arm headed over the other's shoulder just as that person was mirroring the action. So it would almost look like a defensive karate move in slow motion.
Sometimes, a guy liked to hug around the waist and if the girl was shorter, he'd straighten a little and she'd end up on tip toe. This had always made her feel like a melon being weighed for juiciness. From the wrong man, from any man really, it was a creepy hug.
Other hugs were comfortable, a perfect synchronization of arms crisscrossing around one another's backs, a full, warm, brief embrace that said "I care about you" but didn't cross any weird lines. #Quote by Victoria Kahler
Awkward quotes by David Mitchell
#72. A cow of awkward pause mooed. #Quote by David Mitchell
Awkward quotes by Rainn Wilson
#73. I really like the stuff that is very absurd and very real at the same time. I think Anton Chekhov is the greatest comedy writer of all time. I think he would make a great addition to The Office staff. If you look through Chekhov plays there is a lot of awkward pauses in there. #74. What's wrong with going with me?' I ask.
'No one wants to be stuck with love birds.' Howler shakes his head.
'Awkward,' says Cyclone, already walking toward Thermo.
'You think I'd do something to risk a fall?' asks Raffe.
'You can't fall for anything you do here, Commander,' says Thermo. 'You're already in the Pit, so technically, it's equivalent to being in a Fallen state during the time you're here. #Quote by Susan Ee

Awkward quotes by Thomas A. Harris
#76. The ritual is designed to get a group of people through the hour without having to get close to anyone. They may, but they don't have to. It is more comfortable to go to a High Church Mass than to attend a revival service where one may be asked, "Are you saved, brother?" Sexual relations are less awkward in the dark for people for whom physical intimacy has no involvement at the level of personality. There is less chance for involvement in throwing a cocktail party than in having a dinner for six. There is little commitment, therefore little fulfillment. Rituals, like withdrawal, can keep us apart. An #Quote by Thomas A. Harris

Awkward quotes by James Baldwin
#80. In my experience - and this is a very awkward way to put it, since I don't really know what the word experience means - the strangest people in one's life are the people one has known and loved, still know and will always love. Here, both I and the vocabulary are both in trouble, for strangest does not imply stranger. A stranger is a stranger is a stranger, simply, and you watch the stranger to anticipate his next move. But the people who elicit from you a depth of attention and wonder which we helplessly call love are perpetually making moves which cannot possibly be anticipated. Eventually, you realize that it never occurred to you to anticipate their next move, not only because you couldn't but because you didn't have to: it was not a question of moving on the next move, but simply, of being present. Danger, true, you try to anticipate and you prepare yourself, without knowing it, to stand in the way of death. For the strangest people in the world are those people recognized, beneath one's senses, by one's soul - the people utterly indispensable for one's journey. #Quote by James Baldwin

Awkward quotes by Tillie Cole
#86. Pushing Elsie back, I said, "I'm not the most special guy in the world. I'm no one's perfect dream. I'm not sure I'll ever do anything extraordinary with my life. I'll always be that little bit awkward, and that little bit too shy. I'll always blush and dip my head, but if you'll let me, I'll be the one that's there for you. I'll be happy knowing I've got you and you've got me. That's enough for me, to be the one that you can lean on, to be the one to tell you you're beautiful every day. And talk to. I'll adore every sound that comes out of your mouth. I'll be the one to love you like nothing you've ever seen, bella mia." I blushed with embarrassment, but managed to rasp, "If you'll just let me… If you want me."

Elsie sobbed out a cry, tears tumbling down her rosy cheeks. "Levi. You are my dream realized, in every possible way. You are the most special person in my world. And I love that you blush - because I do too." She wiped at her cheeks. "I love that you're shy, and," her breathing hitched, "I love that you love my voice. I love that I never have hide who I am, disguise how I sound. Because I'm tired of trying to please others." She dipped her eyes and almost flattened me when she said, "You're my kind of extraordinary. Levi Carillo, you're the sweetest of souls. #Quote by Tillie Cole

And I could certainly have escaped justice indefinitely by crossing the Black. But I'd have to lose my last scrap of self-respect, and in that case I would take up transvestite hooking before piracy. Awkward quotes by Douglas Adams
#92. His house was certainly peculiar, and since this was the first thing that Fenchurch and Arthur had encountered it would help to know what it was like.

It was like this:

It was inside out.

Actually inside out, to the extent that they had had to park on the carpet.

All along what one would normally call the outer wall, which was decorated in a tasteful interior-designed pink, were bookshelves, also a couple of those odd three-legged tables with semicircular tops which stand in such a way as to suggest that someone just dropped the wall straight through them, and pictures which were clearly designed to soothe.

Where it got really odd was the roof.

It folded back on itself like something that M. C. Escher, had he been given to hard nights on the town, which it is no part of this narrative's purpose to suggest was the case, though it is sometimes hard, looking at his pictures, particularly the one with all the awkward steps, not to wonder, might have dreamed up after having been on one, for the little chandeliers which should have been hanging inside were on the outside pointing up.

Confusing.

The sign above the front door said "Come Outside," and so, nervously, they had.

Inside, of course, was where the Outside was. Rough brickwork, nicely done pointing, guttering in good repair, a garden path, a couple of small trees, some rooms leading off.

And the inner walls stretched #Quote by Douglas Adams
Awkward quotes by Ellen DeGeneres
#93. It's even more awkward when we're face to face with people. It used to be exciting to make plans with friends because you could sit and catch up and talk about what's been going on in your lives. Now when you see someone there's nothing left to say. You've already seen the pictures from their trip to Rio on Facebook. You've read their tweets about the latest diet they're on. And they already texted you about the pregnancy scare. So you end up just sitting and staring at each other until you both start texting other people. #Quote by Ellen DeGeneres

Awkward quotes by Heather Moehn
#96. Generalized Social Anxiety

In contrast to people with specific social anxieties, you may be afraid in a wide variety of situations. You might feel that people are judging everything you do and you might set unreasonable standards of perfection for yourself. This condition is called generalized (or discrete) social anxiety. Generalized social anxiety accounts for 80 percent of all cases of social anxiety.
Often, people with generalized social anxiety get caught in a vicious cycle. Because they are overly anxious in many situations, they act in clumsy and awkward ways, which in turn makes them feel even more discouraged and anxious. This cycle often results in depression and chronic stress.
Generalized social anxiety can affect almost every aspect of your life. This has been the case for Toni, a college senior.

In high school, I hardly had any friends. I didn't participate in any extracurricular activities and managed to get by with average grades. Because I attend a large state university, I am even more invisible. So far, I have avoided any class that has any interaction with my peers, such as discussion groups or labs.
As graduation approaches, I need to decide what type of career I want. The thought of job interviews terrifies me. I am considering grad school but would need recommendations to apply. I haven't even spoken to most of my professors, and the ones who know me probably can't say anything good about me.
As a result, I'm r #Quote by Heather Moehn
Awkward quotes by Peter Watson
#97. The curious fact is that biology tells us nothing about desire. And, when you think about it, culture -- novels, movies, opera, and quite a lot of painting -- is about desire, how we manage desire, how we suffer from it, and how it brings us joy when we get things right. A story without desire -- and that means without the insistence of desire -- will be empty, dry, and more or less aimless. That is one reason we read novels, to see how people fall into awkward moral situations and then try to extricate themselves. This is why there is so much anguish in the world: frustrated desire is every bit as miserable as poverty, because desire is no respecter of one's position in life: everyone goes through it. #Quote by Peter Watson
Awkward quotes by Alain De Botton
#98. What makes people good communicators is, in essence, an ability not to be fazed by the more problematic or offbeat aspects of their own characters. They can contemplate their anger, their sexuality, and their unpopular, awkward, or unfashionable opinions without losing confidence or collapsing into self-disgust. They can speak clearly because they have managed to develop a priceless sense of their own acceptability. They like themselves well enough to believe that they are worthy of, and can win, the goodwill of others if only they have the wherewithal to present themselves with the right degree of patience and imagination. As children, these good communicators must have been blessed with caregivers who knew how to love their charges without demanding that every last thing about them be agreeable and perfect. Such parents would have been able to live with the idea that their offspring might sometimes - for a while, at least - be odd, violent, angry, mean, peculiar, #Quote by Alain De Botton

#100. Awkward situation. I think Ash is off to rock back and forth in a corner and seriously wonder how his life got to be this way. He's a sensitive plant."

Awkward quotes by Sherwood Smith
#104. There were cushioned benches on either side of the fire, and directly before it a great carved chair. Shevraeth rose from one of the benches, making a gesture of welcome. Indicating the chair, in which sat a straight-backed old man dressed in black velvet, he said, "Father, I have the honor of introducing Lady Meliara Astiar." And to me, in the suavest voice, as if I hadn't flung a candleholder at his head just a little while before, "Lady Meliara, my father, Prince Alaerec."
The old man nodded slowly and with great dignity. He had keen dark eyes, and white hair which he wore loose on his shoulders in the old-fashioned way. "My dear, please forgive me if I do not rise. I am afraid I do not get about with ease or grace anymore."
I felt an impulse to bow, and squashed it. I remembered that Court women sweep curtsys--something my mother had tried once to teach me, when I was six. I also remembered that I was there against my will--a prisoner, despite all the fine surroundings and polite talk--so I just crossed my arms and said, "Don't think you have to walk about on my behalf."
Bran gave me a slightly bemused look and bobbed an awkward bow to the old man.
A servant came forward, silent and skillful, and passed out goblets of wine. The Prince saluted me in silence, followed by Bran and Shevraeth. I looked down at my goblet, then took a big gulp that made my nose sting. #Quote by Sherwood Smith

Awkward quotes by J. Lynn
#106. What is it about her?" he asked, sounding like he truly wanted to understand the attraction I could barely figure out. "She's not like any other girl you've gone out with. She's fucking awkward as hell and quiet. She's pretty, but - "
"She's fucking beautiful," I cut in, daring him to disagree.
He didn't. "Is she worth this?"
"Yes," I said. #Quote by J. Lynn
Awkward quotes by Vladimir Nabokov
#107. In a nervous and slender-leaved mimosa grove at the back of their villa we found a perch on the ruins of a low stone wall. She trembled and twitched as I kissed the corner of her parted lips and the hot lobe of her ear. A cluster of stars palely glowed above us between the silhouettes of long thin leaves; that vibrant sky seemed as naked as she was under her light frock. I saw her face in the sky, strangely distinct, as if it emitted a faint radiance of its own. Her legs, her lovely live legs, were not too close together, and when my hand located what it sought, a dreamy and eerie expression, half-pleasure, half-pain, came over those childish features. She sat a little higher than I, and whenever in her solitary ecstasy she was led to kiss me, her head would bend with a sleepy, soft, drooping movement that was almost woeful, and her bare knees caught and compressed my wrist, and slackened again; and her quivering mouth, distorted by the acridity of some mysterious potion, with a sibilant intake of breath came near to my face. She would try to relieve the pain of love by first roughly rubbing her dry lips against mine; then my darling would draw away with a nervous toss of her hair, and then again come darkly near and let me feed on her open mouth, while with a generosity that was ready to offer her everything, my heart, my throat, my entrails, I gave her to hold in her awkward fist the scepter of my passion. #Quote by Vladimir Nabokov
Awkward quotes by Jane Austen
#108. But Elizabeth was not formed for ill-humour; and though every prospect of her own was destroyed for the evening, it could not dwell long on her spirits; and having told all her griefs to Charlotte Lucas, whom she had not seen for a week, she was soon able to make a voluntary transition to the oddities of her cousin, and to point him out to her particular notice. Awkward quotes by Neil Schiller
#110. A sweeping vista of Northern sky opens up between the warehouses and hangs motionless above the cobbled streets. It's a world of unrequited love beneath the smoke stacks and awkward moments in the underpass. A great crashing wave of romantic despair that washes over my dramatic heart, dousing it with a thin grey rinse. My great iron bedstead, my kitchen sink drama, the grainy black and white days of this life... #Quote by Neil Schiller
Awkward quotes by Cassandra Clare
#111. Anna's attention was focused on a single patient. Ariadne Bridgestock lay quietly against the white pillows. Her eyes were shut, and her rich brown skin was ashen, stretching tightly over the branching black veins beneath her skin.
Anna slipped in between the screens surrounding Ariadne's cot, and Cordelia followed, feeling slightly awkward. Was she intruding? But Anna looked up, as if to assure herself that Cordelia was there, before she knelt down at the side of Ariadne's bed, laying her walking stick on the floor.
Anna's bowed shoulders looked strangely vulnerable. One of her hands dangled at her side: she reached out the other, fingers moving slowly across the white linen sheets, until she was almost touching Ariadne's hand.
She did not take it. At the last moment, Anna's fingers curled and dropped to rest, beside Ariadne but not quite touching. In a low and steady voice, Anna said, "Ariadne. When you wake up - and you will wake up - I want you to remember this. It was never a sign of your worth that Charles Fairchild wanted to marry you. It is a measure of his lack of worth that he chose to break it off in such a manner."
"He broke it off?" Cordelia whispered. She was stunned. The breaking off of a promised engagement was a serious matter, undertaken usually only when one of the parties in question had committed some kind of serious crime or been caught in an affair. For Charles to break his promise to Ariadne while she lay unconscious was appalling. #Quote by Cassandra Clare
Awkward quotes by Kate Atkinson
#112. Slattern! What a wonderful new word. 'Slattern,' I murmur appreciatively to Patricia.

Awkward quotes by Markus Zusak
#119. It would be nice to say that after this small breakthrough, neither Liesel nor Max dreamed their bad visions again. It would be nice but untrue. The nightmares arrived like they always did, much like the best player in the opposition when you've heard rumors that he might be injured or sick - but there he is, warming up with the rest of them, ready to take the field. Or like a timetabled train, arriving at a nightly platform, pulling the memories behind it on a rope. A lot of dragging. A lot of awkward bounces. #Quote by Markus Zusak

Awkward quotes by Jon Rauch
#122. Do you know someone who needs hours alone every day? Who loves quiet conversations about feelings or ideas, and can give a dynamite presentation to a big audience, but seems awkward in groups and maladroit at small talk? Who has to be dragged to parties and then needs the rest of the day to recuperate? Who growls or scowls or grunts or winces when accosted with pleasantries by people who are just trying to be nice?
If so, do you tell this person he is "too serious," or ask if he is okay? Regard him as aloof, arrogant, rude? Redouble your efforts to draw him out?
If you answered yes to these questions, chances are that you have an introvert on your hands - and that you aren't caring for him properly. #Quote by Jon Rauch

Awkward quotes by Christina Lauren
#131. He closes the door with a determined click, and I hear him call to a flight attendant, and I sink down onto the toilet seat, resting my elbows on my knees and my head in my hands as I listen to him through the door.

"I'm sorry to bother you but my wife," he says, and then pauses. With the last word he says, my heart begins to hammer. "The one who now got sick? She's started her... cycle? And I'm wondering if you keep any, or rather if you have... something? You see this all happened a bit fast and she packed in a hurry, and before that we were in Vegas. I have no idea why she came with me but I really really don't want to screw this up. And now she needs something. Can she, uh," he stutters, finally saying simply, "borrow quelque chose?" I cover my mouth as he continues to ramble, and I would given anything in this moment to see the expression of the flight attendant on the other side of this door. "I meant use," he continues. "Not to borrow because I don't think they work that way."

I hear a woman's voice ask, "Do you know if she needs tampons or pads?"

Oh God. Oh God. This can't be happening.

"Um..." I hear him sigh and then say, "I have no idea but I'll give you a hundred dollars to end this conversation and give me both. #Quote by Christina Lauren

#135. You remember that documentary they showed us in sixth grade? The one about Hurricane Katrina?"
"Yeah." I shrug, remembering how we'd all piled into the media center to watch it on the big, pull-down screen. I don't recall much about the movie itself, but I'm pretty sure Brad Pitt had narrated it. "What about it?"
"I had nightmares for weeks. I have no idea why it affected me the way it did."
"Seriously?"
He nods. "Ever since, well…let's just say I don't do well in storms. Especially hurricanes."
I just stare at him in stunned silence.
"You're going to have fun with this, aren't you?"
"No, I…of course not. Jeez." How big of a bitch does he think I am? "I'm not going to tell a soul. I promise. Okay? What happens in the storm shelter stays in the storm shelter," I quip, trying to lighten the mood.
His whole body seems to relax then, as if I've taken a weight off him.

"Well, okay, not friends, exactly. But you know what I mean. Our moms used to put us in a crib together. Back when we were babies."
He winces. "I know."

"In this case," Pandora said, "it's definitely not true. My laugh sounds like a serenading tree frog swinging on a rusty gate."
Gabriel smiled. "Like silver wind chimes in a summer breeze."
"That's not at all how it sounds," Pandora scoffed.
"But thats how it makes me feel." The intimate note in his voice seemed to vibrate along the network of fine, taut nerves strung all through her. #Quote by Lisa Kleypas
Awkward quotes by Alison Moyet
#139. People always had something to say about the fact I was odd looking, bigger than other people, that I was awkward. When I discovered punk, I bought into it. That look, combined with being fat, made me even less of what people thought a young woman should be. #Quote by Alison Moyet
Awkward quotes by Mayim Bialik
#140. I'm definitely on the spectrum of socially awkward. #Quote by Mayim Bialik
Awkward quotes by Zack Love
#141. Oh. Well was this your first time painting a live model?"
She nodded her head, with an almost guilty look on her face.
"What's it like?"
"Hard," she replied. #Quote by Zack Love
Awkward quotes by K.A. Tucker
#142. Have you always loved yourself this much?"
"I had an awkward year in 'ninety-nine, but I got over it quick. #Quote by K.A. Tucker
Awkward quotes by Kristi Cook
#143. Hey!" a voice calls out behind us, and we turn to find Ryder standing beside the row of orange lockers outside Mr. Jepsen's classroom. I have no idea why he's out of class early, and I don't care. "I just heard the announcement--congrats."
"Thanks," Morgan chirps. "This is epic, right? Both of us."
Ryder nods, his gaze shifting from Morgan to me.
I duck my head, averting my eyes. This is worse than when I hated him, I realize. At least then, it wasn't awkward. I could just ignore him and go about my business. Now I feel all queasy and mad and breathless and guilty. I need to get away from him. Fast.
Mercifully, Morgan glances down at her watch. "We gotta get going. There's a meeting in the media center."
"Right," Ryder says. "But, uh…Jemma, could I talk to you for a second after school today? Before practice, maybe?"
My gaze snaps up to meet his. "I…um, I don't think that's a good idea."
"I'll be quick," he says. "Actually, maybe I'll come over to your house after dinner. That way I can say hi to Nan."
"She's…really not up to visitors."
"Really?" He fixes me with a stare, one brow raised in disbelief. "'Cause your mom said just the opposite."
Crap. Now what? I'm out of excuses. Besides, the last thing I want to do is pique Morgan's curiosity. "Oh, fine. Whatever."
"Great. See you then." He turns and heads back into the classroom without a backward glance.
I have no clue what he wants to talk about. Things are already #Quote by Kristi Cook
Awkward quotes by Mitt Romney
#144. Who let the dogs out? Who, who. #Quote by Mitt Romney
Awkward quotes by Vince Gill
#145. The devaluation of music and what it's now deemed to be worth is laughable to me. My single costs 99 cents. That's what a single cost in 1960. On my phone, I can get an app for 99 cents that makes fart noises - the same price as the thing I create and speak to the world with. Some would say the fart app is more important. It's an awkward time. Creative brains are being sorely mistreated. #Quote by Vince Gill
Awkward quotes by Manisha Jain
#146. Is it love?

I don't know what should I call it - Love, attraction or something else?

Suddenly, you start feeling about someone but you also don't know what that feeling is. (I know sounds awkward.)

Suddenly, You start thinking about someone all day and night than on another second you pretend yourself you don't take care anymore or you would not think any more about them.

Suddenly, you see your all future in front of your eyes with that someone special then, on the other hand, you make sure or warn yourself that It would not happen with you. Your future can't be with them.

Suddenly, you want to open your heart in front of them or confess your feelings but on the other hand, you see - you are losing them.

Suddenly, you accept the reality it's better to be Strangers. Forever! #Quote by Manisha Jain
Awkward quotes by N. T. Wright
#147. Have suggested throughout this book that the New Testament itself answers the first half of each of these prayers in terms, primarily, of a clear list of character traits whose radical novelty is generated from within the life, vision, achievement, death, and resurrection of Jesus himself. These events, taken together, constitute Jesus's followers as the true, image-bearing human beings, the royal priesthood. I have proposed, further, that according to the New Testament the way God the Holy Spirit answers the second half of the prayer is by renewing the individual heart and mind so that we can freely and consciously choose to practice those habits of behavior which, awkward and clumsy at first, will gradually become second nature. #Quote by N. T. Wright
Awkward quotes by Wallace Shawn
#148. Interestingly, the actress who, in her own persona, may be gentle, shy, and socially awkward, someone whose hand trembles when pouring a cup of tea for a visiting friend, can convincingly portray an elegant, cruel aristocrat tossing off malicious epigrams in an eighteenth-century chocolate house. #Quote by Wallace Shawn
Awkward quotes by James Gleick
#149. He used to be from our village, one of us. After he died, the spirits made a mistake and sent him off far away to a village of whites to enter into the body of a little baby who was born of a white woman instead of one of ours. But because he belongs to us, he could not forget where he came from and so he came back." The villager added generously, "If he is a bit awkward on the drums, this is because of the poor education that the whites gave him." Carrington's life in Africa spanned four decades. #Quote by James Gleick
Awkward quotes by Victoria Awkward... Group

Awkward quotes by Fiona Apple
#151. Hearing my songs in public freaks me out a bit. There was one restaurant I really liked in L.A., but I had to stop going there when they started playing my music. It felt kinda awkward. #Quote by Fiona Apple
Awkward quotes by Rebecca Lee
#152. This is the whole problem with words. There is so little surface area to reveal whom you might be underneath, how expansive and warm, how casual, how easygoing, how cool, and so it all comes out a little pathetic and awkward and choked. #Quote by Rebecca Lee
Awkward quotes by Leo Tolstoy
#153. Formerly (it had begun almost from childhood and kept growing till full maturity), whenever he had tried to do something that would be good for everyone, for mankind, for Russia, for the district, for the whole village, he had noticed that thinking about it was pleasant, but the doing itself was always awkward, there was no full assurance that the thing was absolutely necessary, and the doing itself, which at the start had seemed so big, kept diminishing and diminishing, dwindling to nothing; while now, after his marriage, when he began to limit himself more and more to living for himself, though he no longer experienced any joy at the thought of what he was doing, he felt certain that his work was necessary, saw that it turned out much better than before and that it was expanding more and more. #Quote by Leo Tolstoy
Awkward quotes by Judith Viorst
#154. A normal adolescent is so restless and twitchy and awkward that he can mange to injure his knee
not playing soccer, not playing football
but by falling off his chair in the middle of French class. #Quote by Judith Viorst
Awkward quotes by Keary Taylor
#155. We didn't say or write anything for a long time. Normally silence like that was uncomfortable and awkward. Like you needed to say something to fill the empty space in the air. But it didn't feel like that with Samantha. Maybe it was because I couldn't say anything and fill the quiet, but I thought it was more about two people just being with each other, enjoying the slowdown and the rare sunshine. #Quote by Keary Taylor
Awkward quotes by Sally Rooney
#156. With Marianne it was different, because everything was between them only, even awkward or difficult things. He could do or say anything he wanted with her and no one would ever find out. It gave him a vertiginous, light-headed feeling to think about it. When he touched her that night she was so wet, and she rolled her eyes back into her head and said: God, yes. And she was allowed to say it, no one would know. He was afraid he would come then just from touching her like that. #Quote by Sally Rooney
Awkward quotes by Alexa Riley
#157. For all the awkward girls that think they're alone.
You're not. #Quote by Alexa Riley
Awkward quotes by Kristin Chenoweth
#158. They had me all happy, singing. It was very awkward. I think the writers are frantically planning something appropriate to honor him, but we don't know what. #Quote by Kristin Chenoweth
Awkward quotes by Andrew James Pritchard
#159. But, being that I have always been rather awkward and shy around girls, especially those I liked, whenever I tried talking to them, it's hardly any wonder that I never got very far. I would simply start to stammer and stutter even before I could properly say hello. In fact, it's of my opinion that, to them, I must have come across seeming a bit retarded. #Quote by Andrew James Pritchard
Awkward quotes by Kate Brian
#160. Half delirious, I slipped my hands around Whit's thick neck. The second Idid he got confident. His mouth moved over mine in a rough, unpracticed, awkward back-and-forth motion, so fast it was as if he was trying to create fire with our lips. #Quote by Kate Brian
Awkward quotes by Mary Roach
#161. I find the dead easier to be around than the dying. They are not in pain, not afraid of death. There are no awkward silences and conversations that dance around the obvious. They aren't scary...Cadavers, once you get used to them--and you do that quite fast--are surprisingly easy to be around. #Quote by Mary Roach
Awkward quotes by Laurence Scott
#162. Millions of us daily take advantage of [Skype], delighted to carry the severed heads of family members under our arms as we move from the deck to the cool of inside, or steering them around our new homes, bobbing them like babies on a seasickening tour. Skype can be a wonderful consolation prize in the ongoing tournament of globalization, though typically the first place it transforms us is to ourselves. How often are the initial seconds of a video's call takeoff occupied by two wary, diagonal glances, with a quick muss or flick of the hair, or a more generous tilt of the screen in respect to the chin? Please attend to your own mask first. Yet, despite the obvious cheer of seeing a faraway face, lonesomeness surely persists in the impossibility of eye contact. You can offer up your eyes to the other person, but your own view will be of the webcam's unwarm aperture. ... The problem lies in the fact that we can't bring our silence with us through walls. In phone conversations, while silence can be both awkward and intimate, there is no doubt that each of you inhabits the same darkness, breathing the same dead air. Perversely, a phone silence is a thick rope tying two speakers together in the private void of their suspended conversation. This binding may be unpleasant and to be avoided, but it isn't as estranging as its visual counterpart. When talk runs to ground on Skype, and if the purpose of the call is to chat, I can quickly sense that my silence isn't their silence. For so #Quote by Laurence Scott
Awkward quotes by Ellen Page
#163. You think you're in a place where you're all 'I'm thrilled to be gay, I have no issues about being gay anymore, I don't feel shame about being gay,' but you actually do. You're just not fully aware of it. I think I still felt scared about people knowing. I felt awkward around gay people; I felt guilty for not being myself. #Quote by Ellen Page
Awkward quotes by Ethel Lilian Voynich
#164. You have brought out the awkward squad this
morning, colonel! Let me see if I can manage
them better. Now, men! Hold your tool higher
there, you to the left. Bless your heart, man, it's
a carbine you've got in your hand, not a fryingpan!
Are you all straight? Now then! Ready
present
"Fire!" the colonel interrupted, starting forward.
It was intolerable that this man should
give the command for his own death. #Quote by Ethel Lilian Voynich
Awkward quotes by Vito Acconci
#165. Writing was always a laborious thing for me. I never wrote fluently, I never wrote fluidly, there was something very awkward in my writing. But it seemed to me purposely awkward. It's almost as if I made the labor part of writing. #Quote by Vito Acconci
Awkward quotes by Patrick Carney
#166. I see a lot of comments on Twitter and stuff about how ugly I am, how bad I am at the drums, how awkward I look, and I'm like, yeah, I agree with most of those things. #Quote by Patrick Carney
Awkward quotes by Elle Kennedy
#167. Lusting over your best friend's girlfriend sucks. First off, there's the awkward factor. As in, it's really fucking awkward. #Quote by Elle Kennedy
Awkward quotes by Gregory J. Boyle
#168. You don't really keep vigil; it keeps you-suspended in awkward silence and dead air-desperate for anything at all to stir some hope out of these murky waters and make things vital again. #Quote by Gregory J. Boyle
Awkward quotes by Frost Kay
#169. All that time she spent fighting Tehl, making him the villain, blaming him, and yet wasn't the monster of her story, he was the hero. He'd always been the hero, albeit and awkward one. #Quote by Frost Kay
Awkward quotes by Ana Gasteyer
#170. I always tried not to be too mean, but my problem is that the people I tend to find hilarious don't usually have senses of humor. So interacting with them is a little bit of an awkward engagement, because I can't really make them laugh, on top of which I've been doing an impression of them. #Quote by Ana Gasteyer
Awkward quotes by Cassandra Clare
#171. You're a heartbreaker, Isabelle Lightwood," he said, as lightly as he could with her blood still running through him like fire. "Jace told Clary once you'd walk all over me in high-heeled boots."
"That was then. You're different now." She eyed him.
"You're not scared of me."
He touched her face. "A nd you're not scared of anything."
"I don't know." Her hair fell forward. "Maybe you'll b r eak my heart." Before he could say anything, she kissed him, and he wondered if she could taste her own blood. "Now shut up. I want to sleep," she said, and she curled up against his side and closed her eyes.
Somehow, now, they fit, where they hadn't before.
Nothing was awkward, or poking into him, or banging against his leg. It didn't feel like childhood and sunlight and gentleness. It felt strange and heated and exciting and powerful and… different. Simon lay awake, his eyes on the ceiling, his hand stroking Isabelle's silky black hair absently. He felt like he'd been caught up in a tornado and deposited somewhere very far away, where nothing was familiar. Eventually he turned his head and kissed Izzy, very lightly, on the forehead; she stirred and murmured but didn't open her eyes. #Quote by Cassandra Clare
Awkward quotes by Plutarch
#172. As bees extract honey from thyme, the strongest and driest of herbs, so sensible men often get advantage and profit from the most awkward circumstances. #Quote by Plutarch
Awkward quotes by Renae Kaye
#173. Jay?"
"Yeah?"
"I have something I need to tell you."
The smile died on his face as he looked at me with solemn eyes. "Yeah?"
"Babe, I think I'm gay."
He burst into laughter, almost rolling off the bed. "Liam? Guess what? I think I'm gay, too."
I pretended to mop at the sweat on my brow. "Oh, thank goodness. Because this could've been really awkward if you weren't. #Quote by Renae Kaye
Awkward quotes by Jay McLean
#174. The guy ... " She stops to take a breath. "In this book ... " We all wait for her to calm down. "Came in his pants while they were dry humping!" "How awkward," Jake states. Logan watches her with amusement in his eyes. "What the hell do you read, girl?" She shakes her head and wipes her eyes. "Oh man, that was good. #Quote by Jay McLean
Awkward quotes by Bella Hadid
#175. I'm so socially awkward. I really had to put myself out there and meet new people. #Quote by Bella Hadid
Awkward quotes by R.J. Ellory
#176. Love was the breaking and healing of hearts. Love was the misunderstood. Love was faith; love was the promise of now that became hope for the future. Love was a rhythm, a resonance, a reverberation. Love was awkward and foolish, it was aggressive and simple, possessed of so many indefinable qualities that it could never be conveyed in language. Love was being. #Quote by R.J. Ellory
Awkward quotes by D.H. Lawrence
#177. You have a place in my nature which no one else could fill. You have played a fundamental part in my development. And this grief, which has been like a clod between our two souls, does it not begin to dissipate? Ours is not an everyday affection. As yet, we are mortal, and to live side by side with one another would be dreadful, for somehow, with you I cannot long be trivial, and, you know, to be always beyond this mortal state would be to lose it. If people marry, they must live together as affectionate humans who may be commonplace with each other without feeling awkward- not as two souls. So I feel it.
I might marry in the years to come. It would be a woman I could kiss and embrace, whom I could make the mother of my children, whom I could talk to playfully, trivially, earnestly, but never with this dreadful seriousness. See how fate has disposed things. You, you might marry, a man who would not pour himself out like fire before you. I wonder if you understand- I wonder if I understand myself. #Quote by D.H. Lawrence
Awkward quotes by Daniel Younger
#178. Awkward conversations. They're the heart of the drug trade. The driving force that keeps criminals out of jail is paranoia. You can think you know people, but the truth is, you never know who they're talking to. The life of an outlaw: Around every corner lies a cop. In every basement waits a bust. Every friend is the guy who sells you out to keep his own ass out of jail. Sure, it was rare, but you just never knew.
The result was a series of shorthand and euphemisms so obscure even the pros often weren't sure what they were talking about. Sales became pickups. Pot, ganja, bud, or weed became lettuce, green, happy, herb, smoke... the list went on, and changed from dealer to dealer. #Quote by Daniel Younger
Awkward quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
#179. We wait too long to tell the people we love that they are the very reason that we exist. We assume that our wife, child, other family members, and friends understand our love and affection. We assume that people we care about understand our enigmatic idiosyncrasies and willingly accept the shrouded reasons behind our demonstrable oddities. We assume that other people sense that we struggle valiantly in our blackened landscape. We presume that other people comprehend our struggle to glean meaning amongst the ashes spewed from the absurd circumstances that we operate. Sometimes we need to stop and tell the tenderhearted persons whom we care about that we love them and explain that our awkward strangeness is not a rejection of them. #Quote by Kilroy J. Oldster
Awkward quotes by Cassandra Clare
#180. Out of the corner of her eye she thought she saw Jace shoot her a look of white rage - but when she glanced at him, he looked as he always did: easy, confident, slightly bored.
"In future, Clarissa," he said, "it might be wise to mention that you already have a man in your bed, to avoid such tedious situations."
"You invited him into bed?" Simon demanded, looking shaken.
"Ridiculous, isn't it?" said Jace. "We would never have all fit."
"I didn't invite him into bed," Clary snapped. "We were just kissing."
"Just kissing?" Jace's tone mocked her with its false hurt. "How swiftly you dismiss our love. #Quote by Cassandra Clare
Awkward quotes by Lizzy Caplan
#181. I'm really awkward when people recognize me. I'm not good at it, and for the most part it hadn't happened to me until 'True Blood,' and then, all of a sudden, it started happening all the time. #Quote by Lizzy Caplan
Awkward quotes by Brandon Sanderson
#182. Emergency? Knighthawk sent. I'm just bored.
I blinked, holding my phone and rereading that text.
Bored? I sent. You're literally spying on the entire world, Knighthawk. You can read anyone's mail, listen to anyone's phone calls.
First, it's not the whole world, he wrote. Only large chunks of North and Central America. Second, do you have any idea how mind-numbingly DULL most people are?
I started a reply, but a flurry of messages came at me, interrupting what I was going to say.
Oh! Knighthawk wrote. Look at this pretty flower!
Hey. I want to know if you like me, but I can't say that, so here's an awkward flirtation instead.
Where are you?
I'm here.
Where?
Here.
There?
No, here.
Oh.
Look at my kid.
Look at my dog.
Look at me.
Look at me holding my kid and dog.
Hey, everyone. I took a huge koala this morning.
Barf. The world is ruled by deific beings who can do stuff like melt buildings into puddles of acid, and all people can think of to do with their phones is take pictures of their pets and try to figure out how to get laid. #Quote by Brandon Sanderson
Awkward quotes by L.M. Augustine
#183. Wait, Cat," I say, reaching blindly for her arm, as if I could possibly make this anymore awkward. (Hint: apparently, I can.) #Quote by L.M. Augustine
Awkward quotes by Christopher Hitchens
#184. Martin is your best friend, isn't he?' a sweet and well-intentioned girl once said when both of us were present: it was the only time I ever felt awkward about this precious idea, which seemed somehow to risk diminishment if it were uttered aloud. #Quote by Christopher Hitchens
Awkward quotes by Dave Barry
#185. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment. #Quote by Dave Barry
Awkward quotes by Robin Roe
#186. Minutes tick by and I keep sitting on the couch alone and drinking my soda, feeling so awkward I want to leave, but feeling so lonely that I can't. #Quote by Robin Roe
Awkward quotes by Lisa Kleypas
#187. Is it always this awkward?" Sara asked. Her voice was hushed.
Derek turned to look at her, his gaze falling to the white rose in her hands. She had taken it from the arrangement of hothouse flowers. Nervously her fingers ruffled the fragile petals.
Self-consciously Sara sniffed the pale blossom and began to insert it back into the huge vase. "It's nice to have roses in January," she murmured. "Nothing in the world has such a lovely scent."
She was so innocently beautiful, with the disordered waves of her hair falling around her face. His muscles tightened in response. He would like to have her painted this way, standing by the table with her head turned toward him, the white flower caught in her fingers. "Bring it here," he said.
She obeyed, coming to him and handing him the rose. He closed his fingers around the plump head of the flower and pulled gently, freeing the petals from their tenuous moorings. Tossing aside the desecrated stem, he opened his hand over the bed. The petals scattered in a fragrant shower. Sara drew in a quick breath, staring at him as if mesmerized. #Quote by Lisa Kleypas
Awkward quotes by Tony Kushner
#188. I tend to be sort of quiet and shy and awkward in social situations. #Quote by Tony Kushner
Awkward quotes by Josh Brolin
#189. I got picked on a lot. I was a complete geek in school. I had braces. I didn't have the hot girlfriend. I wasn't ever sought after. I was a stocky, awkward kid who got laughed off the tennis court when I tried that. #Quote by Josh Brolin
Awkward quotes by Judah Smith
#190. That's how we often react when grace comes at us. It's awkward. God offers us something that's too good to be true - unearned, unmerited, total forgiveness - and we stand there, stiff and uncomfortable, waiting for the embrace to stop so we can get back to the business of earning our way into heaven. We need to embrace grace. We need to learn how to hug back. #Quote by Judah Smith
Awkward quotes by Christopher Moore
#191. Enchantment and seduction were fine means of persuasion, but when time is short, an awkward but quick concussion could better serve a girl's purpose. #Quote by Christopher Moore

Awkward quotes by Diane Arbus
#193. I work from awkwardness. By that I mean I don't like to arrange things. If I stand in front of something, instead of arranging it, I arrange myself. #Quote by Diane Arbus
Awkward quotes by David Ogilvy
#194. I avoid clients for whom advertising is only a marginal factor in their marketing mix. They have an awkward tendency to raid their advertising appropriations whenever they need cash for other purposes. #Quote by David Ogilvy
Awkward quotes by Mervyn Peake
#195. If ever he had harboured a conscience in his tough narrow breast he had by now dug out and flung away the awkward thing - flung it so far away that were he ever to need it again he could never find it. High-shouldered to a degree little short of malformation, slender and adroit of limb and frame, his eyes close-set and the colour of dried blood, he is climbing the spiral staircase of the soul of Gormenghast, bound for some pinnacle of the itching fancy - some wild, invulnerable eyrie best known to himself; where he can watch the world spread out below him, and shake exultantly his clotted wings #Quote by Mervyn Peake
Awkward quotes by Katie Leung
#196. I'm very quiet. I can go a whole week without talking, so doing interviews is really awkward for me! #Quote by Katie Leung
Awkward quotes by Kandi Steiner
#197. On a scale of one to sexy I'm at a solid awkward turtle ninety percent of the time. #Quote by Kandi Steiner
Awkward quotes by Christian Finnegan
#198. I hope that if I ever disappear, people don't look for me based on the last websites I visited. Kind of an awkward press conference for my parents. Officer, do you have any leads? Well, based on Mr. Finnegan's computer entries, we think he was abducted by Sorority Sluts. #Quote by Christian Finnegan
Awkward quotes by Daniel Defoe
#199. If you have any regard to your future happiness, any view of living comfortably with a husband, any hope of preserving your fortunes, or restoring them after any disaster, never, ladies, marry a fool; any husband rather than a fool. With some other husbands you may be unhappy, but with a fool you will be miserable; with another husband you may, I say, be unhappy, but with a fool you must; nay, if he would, he cannot make you easy; everything he does is so awkward, everything he says is so empty, a woman of any sense cannot but be surfeited and sick of him twenty times a day. #Quote by Daniel Defoe
Awkward quotes by Sherrilyn Kenyon
#200. You'll survive, mu Tara. We'll make sure of it. (Nykyrian)
You can't guarantee that. You said it yourself. Even you're living on borrowed time, waiting for one of them to kill you. (Kiara)
And you said I was scaring her? Damn, bud. You're socially awkward to the extreme. (Syn) #Quote by Sherrilyn Kenyon
